  • PXG has released two new drivers, the 0311 GEN6 and 0311 XF GEN6, and designed them with carbon fiber crowns, thin titanium faces and moveable weights. The brand claims they are more stable, but still deliver loads of ball speed. Learn if one could help you get more distance and hit more fairways ... for a price that you might not expect from the ultra-premium club maker.

    Purchased gen 6 xf a few weeks after a fitting. with a few mods and shaft changes i'm straighter, longer, less errors and tighter dispersion. fantastic driver and woods.

    I'm playing the Gen 5xf with a motus 6x x-stiff shaft & I LOVE the forgiveness of this driver. That being said it is 25-30 yards shorter than my Cobra LTDX-LS, but PXG is more forgiving on miss hits.

      Burnice,
      Those are two VERY different drivers. The Cobra LTDx LS is a low-spin club designed to a lot more weight forward in the head. That reduces spin but also helps to increase ball speed. The PXG XF GEN5 has a much higher MOI because it has more weight in the back. That's why you probably hit it straighter. I bet you hit it higher too because the extra spin will give shots more lift. If you are looking for a change and want to consider a PXG offering, the standard 0311 GEN6 could be a blend of your current Cobra and PXG drivers, but talk to a good fitter and see what a launch monitor reveals.

    Just got my Gen6 driver and it is a MONSTER!! 20+ yards longer than my G430.

      Great to hear that your new club is working for you. Getting properly fit for a new head and shaft can make a lot of difference. The Ping G430 is an excellent driver, but if the PXG GEN6 is longer for you (and hopefully just as straight), then that sounds like a win.

      The 430 wasn’t ever a long ball driver just forgiving.

    I play PXG clubs and am looking forward to the gen 6 driver. My current clubs are a little over a year old, so I'm in no rush. But I like that driver much better than the gen 5 ( I currently play the previous model 0211, which is really good).

    • @DavidDusek
      @DavidDusek  Год назад

      If you are currently playing an 0211, this will look and feel very familiar. The matte black carbon fiber crown, the look at address and the sound will be things you've seen and heard before, but you might get more ball speed. Be sure to hit them on a launch monitor and get some numbers before you break open your wallet and buy anything.

    I have the Gen 5 and like it as it's fitted to my swing, however, I only paid $299 brand new and this Gen 6 doesn't sound like there is any major innovation for an additional $200 over Gen 5. If I were looking to move into a PXG driver, I'd wait and get the Gen 5 at a discount - which they always do when the new generation is released. Additionally, PXG club pricing is hard to predict as it seems to move up and down a lot.

      @DavidDusek  Год назад

      The GEN6 drivers certainly feel like a refinement over the GEN5 instead of a major overhaul. Several of the key technologies are the same. PXG claims the GEN6 has a higher MOI and is more stable on mis-hits then the GEN5, but if you were well fit for a GEN5 last year, the improvements might not be drastic.

    The standard 0311 looks so sharp in the address position. Been playing the 0811 Proto X+ and really want to give the new Gen6 a rip.

    You have to really be in love with this black and chrome theme from PGX and maybe just the story behind the brand to get on board IMHO. Something about the crown and design just doesn't speak "super premium" or really even premium to me. This kinda falls in line with the Wilson and Tour Exotics styling and design.

    • @DavidDusek
      @DavidDusek  Год назад

      Crown designs are subjective, but I know what you mean. Matte black crowns are great at reducing glare, and they have been trendy for a few seasons, so there are a lot of brands out there using matte black. Glossy black can too very sharp, but a ding or a chip in a glossy crown grabs my eyes every time. As for the chrome and black styling, in the address position, the PXG irons look like many other better-player irons and better-payer distance irons. Personally, what's on the back of the iron doesn't bother me if I can't see it when I look down at the ball.

    What does adding a heavier weight in the back port achieve

    • @DavidDusek
      @DavidDusek  Год назад

      It shifts the center of gravity back, away from the face, which increases the moment of interim and boosts stability. More weight in the back can also add spin and encourage a higher launch angle.

    Does either Driver have Adjustable Shaft? Like Callaway where you can change Loft and Angle? From Video doesn't appear it does. And for $500 Driver that should be a standard.

    • @DavidDusek
      @DavidDusek  Год назад +1

      David,
      Yes, both the standard and the XF models have a 12-position adjustable hosel that allows you to change the loft up or down by up to 1.5 degrees. It also allows players and fitters to to make the lie angle up to 3 degree flat. Sorry for not including that in the video.
      You can see the screw in the the toe area of the sole in many shots in the video. PXG's adjustable hosel is small, to save weight, so in a way, your comment is exactly what the designers want. Something that is there to help you, but not too big.

      @@DavidDusek Nice thanks for info.. Like the trend that manufactures are starting to include Adjustable Shafts on there Fairway Woods as well. Really makes a difference with those of us who don't have the perfect Swing.

    I hate PXG and their marketing. Right after I bought gen4 full bag deal for 3K they give up the ultra premium marketing and everything went cheap. My value went down the toilet and no one see pxg, my club as premium anymore. Sucks!

      All you had to do was call in and complain (as long as you were within 30 days) and they would refund you the difference. They have excellent customer service. This was also one thing I hate about PXG.....but Parsons mentioned that they will not be dropping prices with the Gen6 stuff for quite a while
