    Glad to finally (!) see GP catch up on very important functionality! The FPL/PROC disparity was the single most annoying (and truly bizarre) issue that kept me from using GP. Since your EFB has great differentiating features like EMER, split view, widgets and the really amazing (although still kind of slow and unstable) flight profile view I can finally see myself making the switch from FF. Can't wait to try out v10!

    Why the Android version does not look anywhere close to this?! This is a rip-off!!! You can't charge the same for a subpar product. Show some respect for Android users.

    @8:42 I see a few CAP planes in that flight list. :D I’m the ACM for CAP2059. Thank you Garmin for all the hard work on this app. It is amazing! One suggestion: could you add a way to enter waypoints with MGRS coordinates? There have been a few times when I’ve been given a tasking, usually an additional task while flying, to go to a waypoint and the guard gives it in MGRS.

    I bought Pilot so I didn't have to buy an iPad even though EVERY other pilot I know uses Foreflight. Figured I'd give GP a chance. Now I wonder if they put iOS ahead of Android. I'm still trying to figure out how to record a flight without actually setting up a whole trip. Can't I press "record" or something then take off?

      We are in the exact same boat. I did not want Apple so FF was off the map for me. Now I feel like Garmin treats me as a second class citizen. I am really angry that I spent all the money on a GDL-51 but I still can't get synthetic vision.

      We appreciate your interest in Garmin Pilot. To add your logbook to flyGarmin and Garmin Pilot, visit flyGarmin.com and login with the same credentials as your Garmin Pilot account. Once logged in, go to the Logbook tab and then the Setup tab. Scroll to the bottom of the page to the Import and Export section and select Import from Spreadhseet. The instructions walk you through how to get your logbook into flyGarmin and Garmin Pilot.
      I personally did this sometime ago and have been keeping my logbook in Garmin Pilot ever since. It did take a little elbow grease, but you’ll certainly get the time back over time. I realized the simplicity at my next annual insurance renewal. You can quickly sum hours by almost any attribute in your logbook by a selected time period. So understanding how many hours you have in a complex aircraft over the past year is just a couple taps away as opposed to going through each page of your logbook tabulating the hours manually- it’s awesome! I hope this helps.

    Garmin simply IGNORES the fact that the Android version of Garmin Pilot is NOT supported by ANY of the tutorials or HELP! The Android Version is like the forgotten Step Child who's even existence is barely mentioned. And the Program is VERY Different, with No little help! How can you even Pretend that these tutorials will help Android users?

      @mytech6779 Год назад

      From what I know of programming, and I have GP on both android and iPad, management seems to have royally screwed up early on. Basically, it looks like they took the quick halfassed route and developed the the first versions of the app with superficially easy proprietary languages rather than building a solid C++ foundation (which compiles for basically any platform ever made), and now they are backed into a corner where they need to maintain two separate parallel code bases or invest huge money to hire a C++ team to totally rewrite it from scratch(long term return, but hurts the short term dividends).

    Now hang on. When I select LOAD after adding an approach to my destination the destination airport jumps up,into the Route field. The approach does load but then I have to remove the destination from the route. Otherwise it doesn’t show correctly on the map. What’s going on? I’m trying to follow this step by step on an iPad Air 2 version 10.2.8.

    • @garminaviation
      @garminaviation  2 года назад

      The process demonstrated in the video loads the approach. To navigate the approach, it needs to be activated. In your flight plan, next to the approach that was loaded, select Actions --> Activate Approach. This will begin navigation to the first waypoint, the Initial Approach Fix (IAF) in the procedure. If you're given vectors, you'll select Activate Vector-to-Final. Thank you for being a loyal Garmin Pilot subscriber. If you have additional questions, please reach out to GPFeedback@garmin.com.

    Currently evaluating Garmin Pilot (switching from SkyDemon) due to more IFR flying, but I miss a lot of features I see in those videos here. Also I can only find Version 7.4.2 in the Google Play Store - how can I get Version 10!? There seems to be even no way to file an IFR flight plan (including auto-routing) in Europe so far (which would be the main point to switch from Sky Demon)...

    I am trying to find out how to do auto routing but can't seem to be able to find it. If I put KHOT to KFMY there should be a way to do an auto route via vor, victor airways, direct, etc. If I click on the routing tab it brings up previous flights,,,,, all above fl270 ( I am planning a flight in a 172) and all pretty much direct. If Garmin pilot can't do auto routing it isn't very useful for my purposes. Do I have to go to AOPA.com/tripplanner to plan a trip (which does routing), then redo it waypoint per waypoint on the ipad? That's too much work.

    • @garminaviation
      @garminaviation  4 года назад

      I am an AOPA member and just did some planning with the tool on their website. Garmin Pilot has similar tools to help speed the flight planning process within Garmin Pilot. From the Flight Plan page, in the upper right-hand corner there is a Routing button, which provides options to filter other aircraft that have filed routes between the departure and destination airport provided in Garmin Pilot. If you’d like to create your own route quickly, select procedures on either the departure/destination airports to load a SID/STAR and you can pull up a IFR sectional to connect those with the desired airways. I’m fairly spoiled here in the Midwest, we’re typically cleared direct. 😊

    • @pylotttt
      @pylotttt 4 года назад

      Garmin Aviation you talked around the issue but didn’t actually address my question. I asked about a specific route and said what the problem is and you either didn’t read the whole post or didn’t want to say that Garmin Pilot won’t do an auto route like I asked. I believe your answer should have been NO it won’t do an auto route using cot or victor routes unless someone else has previously Done the flight plan and if not I would need to manually input each waypoint. I wish companies would be up front and just say no our product won’t do what you are asking At this point. Especially when an actual routing example is provided.

    For those of you complaining about Android versions, as an app developer on both platforms, Android is a good bit more difficult to deal with. I am honestly shocked that Garmin spends the time and money to keep that app up to date at all. The ipad, whether you like Apple or not, is a much better platform for handling something as important as our flight bags. I wouldn't begin to consider doing any of it on Android. Also, if that is the only reason you chose Garmin Pilot then I'm a little surprised. Garmin Pilot (especially with this latest release) is just as capable as foreflight and actually contains features you won't get in Foreflight. I've been a Foreflight user since 2015 and am honestly looking at switching to GP for a number of reasons. I'm excited to see the new version, so quit teasing us Garmin and release it already. :-)

      You sure are surprised a lot. Why would anyone pay three or more times more for Apple? Because it is easier for programmers? That is not how it works. Now I am surprised that Garmin is catering to 6% of the pad/phone marketplace instead the of the 94%. It is not a good business decision to focus your efforts on 6% and ignore the 94%.

      If they had built proper technical capital by using C++ (Which compiles on both, as well as all desktop OS's), they would only have one codebase to maintain, but it's clear they took the proprietary fools' route and will be paying for it for the forseeable future.
