It absolutely does. It is probably one of my favourite quotes from the trio, at least on regarding themselves. I also love how Clarkson says "what an unintelligent man" when they talk about launch control. Can't recall what episode, but the bit is on RUclips here somewhere.

after consuming a lot of tea while researching about this matter, I'm afraid that there's no such thing as British space program, there's the tailgating white van program if you're interested.

They should have used bigger rockets like Jeremy said.
Nu-uh. They should have removed the engine because the car was very front-heavy. You can clearly see the nose dip down first. I can't disagree with that bigger rockets would have been more fun, though.

The mini has rear engine, so they removed the engine block and replaced it whit rockets boosters, but they didn't calculate the gain and loss of the weight, the loss comes from burning rocket fuel.

I love how the madness, noise and spectacle of the rocket-run is beautifully offset by the anticlimactic “boomph” as it hits the barrier!

I wish there were fewer edits on the jump itself. I would've preferred to see at least one single take from top to bottom.
I think it was remarkably unimpressive, hence the edits.

And at the bottom of the slope he knocks over a Reliant Robin. That keeps well the spirit of Mr. Bean & Top Gear.

That was amazing how the Mini flew perfectly, landed perfectly and skied perfectly right into the barrier. Just brilliant.
My favorite thing about this stunt is that it appears to be survivable! the largest G's would probably be hitting the buffer at the end. Other than that, I think that someone seated in that rocket mini could have survived! Lets hope for a manned mission in the future! :D
THIS time it was survivable, but imagine if a bit more power caused the Mini to hit the snow bumper-first and rolled over down the slope. No chance of surviving that, they were right not to put someone inside for safety.
@@tedioussugar384 of course, no one in their right minds world actually attempt this. I was simply marveling at how well executed this particular run was!
The stop could be more gentle if they forced into a curve and back up the hill.

The legendary Finnish stunt driver Arto Nyqvist jumped the Lahti ski jumping hill with a Citroen 2Cv in 1987 (but it was the smallest hill, this was more spectacular).

It's a shame it didn't go just about 5 meters more, to clear the top and follow the curve smoothly down hill, before touching down. Then again, judging from its forward pitch when it leaves the ramp, it would've flipped on its roof if it hadn't touched down and stopped the rotation, exactly when it did. Doubt it could've pulled a full 360° somersault, if it had gone further. lol

If they used just a bit more fuel for the rockets to burn a second longer, it would have propelled the car forward and kept the front end upward long enough to clear the top of the landing ramp.

The weight distribution was not even, that's why the calculations failed.

Honestly the greatest thing i have seen all damn day.
The first minute of this video really looks like some sort of James Bond villain world-destruction preparations, with Roger Moore ready to pounce in a few minutes.
