It’s not you, it’s me (Purgatory Decks Part One)

- Today I wanted to share with you some of the decks that I’m considering rehoming. Because I have quite a few decks in what I lovingly call my “purgatory box” I’m going to be breaking this video into two parts.
In this first video, we’ll be taking a look at some of the decks that I have really enjoyed working with over the years, but discovered that there are other decks in my collection that perhaps fill that space better for me.
You can find all the decks I’m rehoming on my website: bohotarot.com/...

Am I the only one who thinks witches wisdom looks incredible to work with ? It seems… mind expanding
I love watching deck decluttering videos because I constantly struggle letting go and it's helpful to hear others opinions and justifications. As regards the Witches Wisdom tarot, you could scan each card into your computer, change the numbers and then print out on photo paper or the card stock of your choice. And then you can add the backing of your choice. It is long-winded but fun, and even if you decide not to print them out, you then have the lovely artwork saved in digital form to look at whenever you like, without keeping the deck. If I am decluttering, I always keep digital copies of my favourite cards - it helps when letting go of a deck you struggle with.
Keeping images from my favorite cards is a great idea! I might try that. 🙂
@@DawnMichelleTarot I rotate photos of cards I love as screensavers on my phone.
With the “Witches Wisdom Tarot” I would love to see a mod video on it, both to remove the title/number issue you have and to take the size down. As you said it’s a mass market deck, and not an expensive one… it would be nice to see a more challenging trim. I’m looking at trimming a few decks with similar issues for art placement/size/titles… and it’s a little intimidating.
It’s so informative to see what people are letting go of from their collections and why. I really appreciate your candid thoughts on why some decks may have to leave your collection.
Although they have Tarot and Oracle in their names, I don’t believe the Mysteries of Mary Tarot and the Weavers Oracle were meant for what we generally use tarot and oracle for. They’re meant for contemplation, meditation, and introspection. I don’t think they’d be as profitable for the creators, however, if they were called Weavers’ Archetype Deck, or Mysteries of Mary Stories.
About your Witches Wisdom Tarot, Mixtress Rae somehow renamed the cards in one of her decks by painting over the title and rewriting over it. That’s what I’d do.
Regarding the decks where you only like 1 or so cards, part of my welcoming process for decks is to scan every card into my computer so I can print them for my grimoire. This means that if I move the deck along in the future I still have acess to the artwork for whatever I want it for in my own practice.
That's such a great idea, I might do that with my favorite cards! 🙂
I understand what your talking about in regard to the Mysteries of Mary Tarot. I don't think I'll ever get to a place where I can take out a card and understand or remember the story but it's so beautiful. For now it's a deck that I'll pull one card for meditation. Also, you have a deep connection to The Green Witch Tarot, maybe just let Witches Wisdom go or chop it up and have fun with it. 😁✂️ Thanks for sharing.
I never bought the Mysteries of Mary, unfortunately as much as I literally am so physically attracted to it and have been for years, because I knew I was never going to use it and the price point is ridiculous… now that the Mysteries of the Black Madonna came out I’m like 😳😳😳 I want to get it but I just know I’m going to spend $200 on a deck that I won’t use!! It’s a tough and overall frustrating feeling.. I would have bought both decks by now if they were at an affordable price range, but $200 for a new independent tarot deck that will ultimately be sitting on your shelf unused is just utterly ridiculous!!!!
I think when the Black Madonna came out and I saw that price tag, it honestly turned me off the decks even more. Such a shame.
@@calypso_lazuli I'm so glad to find someone else who shares my feelings about the Mysteries of Mary deck... When it first came out it was like 75-90 USD (I found some old archived webpages on it) and that is reasonable considering how much hard work had gone into the altarmaking and book-writing. Now, it seems so overpriced and inaccessible to most, at 180-200 USD a deck. To the artist's credit, her Etsy faves reveals some of the miniature items/supplies she uses to make the altars and they're not cheap, so I think it's just a niche concept that's hard to fund/monetize maybe? Idk. It's such a special art project that maybe needs a better business/marketing strategy 😂
@@TC-rv6sz 100%!! When I first heard of the Mysteries of Mary deck it had already gone up in price to $120-$140-ish… But, last year the creator had put them on sale temporarily, although they had sold out immediately… if my memory serves correctly the price began going higher and higher through time… and I totally agree with you, her work is absolutely beautiful and I’m definitely not going to say that I haven’t been a finger touch away from pressing the buy button every time I happen to come across her decks on social media 🤣😅😂 The current price is just way too high for my liking unfortunately!
Diggin the honesty here. Yess. And I am liking the conversational style. More please. Ha ha ha I know you already do this on your membership.
It's fun to just sit back and chat about decks once in a while, even if it's talking about what I don't like. 🙂
I use witches wisdom as an Oracle or wisdom deck and forget tarot. I love!
😮 Mysteries of Mary Tarot is my "unicorn" deck that is at the very top of my wish list! I have wanted this deck for SO long! 😮🙏
Ooh, I love The Bohemian Gothic Tarot! I managed to find a mini Bohemian Gothic used but it didn't even come with a box. The full size would also be a dream! 👀🤩
This was fun to watch and I enjoyed hearing your thoughts and process. 💫 Thank you for sharing!
Baba Studios is reprinting Bohemian Gothic next year! It was supposed to be this year but COVID delays got in the way. I'm so worried I'm gonna miss the day it drops for preorder and they'll be sold out 😭
@@TickingClocks 🤩👍
@@TickingClocks Meeee too!! I am super anxious about it.
Maybe take a white gel pen and white out the numbers of the Witches Wisdom Tarot first to see if it will even work for you, before you go to all the trouble of trimming it. If it doesn't work that way it won't work with the titles cut off.
So enjoyed this and looking forward to the next one 💕... also yay I think you may have saved me a whack of cash with the Weavers Oracle, I have The Lantern Oracle and love it.
Your comments about the Gothic Romantic (I have the mini) are so relatable. ♥️ My October deck is the Dark Mansion and I didn't even know I liked Tim Burton aestethic this much 😂
Also a very romantic deck it feels! (Both, but more the Dark Mansion for me.)
I am so here for this!
First comment.. lol. I'm the opposite of you with Toni Carmine Solerno. The Gaia Oracle was my first ever oracle. And so all his other decks feel a bit redundant to me as the art can be repeated in other decks.
I'm glad to know it's not just me! 🙂
It's so funny that both you and Lisa Papez are talking about letting go of the Bohemian Gothic - there must be something in the air! I have the mini version and haven't worked with it yet, but I also just snagged a copy of Madam Lydia Wilhelmina in the latest preorders, so I think I'm going to try them both in October and see which ends up my favourite. I suspect I'll agree with you, but at least I should be able to get a good price for the Bohemian Gothic if I decide to rehome it 😀
Thank you also for your thoughts about the Weaver's Oracle - I was thinking of getting it now that I'm heading into that stage of life, but it sounds like I'd be better off with one of Carolyn Hillyer's books, and maybe getting the Lantern Oracle for actual readings.
I know a lot of people love the Weavers Oracle, it is beautiful, but it just didn't work well as an oracle deck for me. I do hope you enjoy your Bohemian Gothic... but I can't wait to hear what you think of Madam Lydia! :)
This really helped me refine my curating process.
As usual I enjoy your musings.
Regarding "witches wisdom": it seems like maybe instead of cutting off the titles (which would lose a lot of art and I think make the deck very difficult to work with) it seems the problem would be fixed simply by putting white-out over the numbers on the majors and then writing in the "correct" number instead for (e.g. 6 instead of 16 on "Love"). And then, when you're looking it up in the guidebook, if the number you've written is large you'll know it will be near the front and if the number is small you'll know it will be near the back. In fact, I think I'm going to do this with my copy because it will make it easier to draw on my base knowledge of tarot and actually use this deck!
I agree with your view about doreen virtue decks, regardless of her current issues, she made beautiful angel and goddess decks and although I wouldn't buy them now, since I already have them, I don't see a reason not to use them...
I do not have a purgatory box, but it is a great idea. I did rehome about 30 or so decks over the 18 months or so, some I have thought twice of, but I do think it is a good idea to purge what no longer serves for sure. I enjoyed watching your process. Thank you for sharing sweet lady. 💖
Always so lovely to spend time with your videos! Insightfull! In true Boho fashion, edged a deck while watching... Good times!
Hi Dawn, I get your frustration dealing with the Witches' Wisdom. I was daunted by the excessive collage work on the Voyager deck. It was expensive and overpowering, and you had to use it "by the book". It controlled one to such an extent that I could not use it. In fact the deck was bossing me about! Inspired by you, I cut off the labels and used it as an Oracle deck. Regarding the Witches' Wisdom, why not white-out the numbers of the Major Arcana and decide which name you prefer for numbers 8 and 11 too. Regarding the Weavers deck, I tend to see them as Tribal Ancient
Ancestor Guides, if you were to do Past Life readings. We only have the opportunity to get Mass market decks so I do envy your good fortune. of getting such cards as the Moonchild Tarot. Keep on inspiring us with your videos, you don't know how many ideas you pass on.
A very interesting video! I finally have started working with the Mysteries of Mary deck and definitely have to use the guidebook to unlock it. It is definitely aligning with some other spiritual work and Mary work (not just Mother Mary), even down to the red thread running through the Distaff/Swords suit. So it's fascinating and enlightening for now. :)
Whoah…. I definitely prefer the weavers oracle over the other deck. I kinda love that it’s an oracle with no keywords.
Not the Bohemian Gothic! I hear you 💕 I really enjoyed this video, and all your thoughts. Xo
Dawn, I just have to say it .. I love how you enjoy long sleeves too. I am easily cold so I tend to wear sleeves that are ling enough to cover my hands and whenever I look at your videos .. just makes me feel warm because I always have cold hands.
Now, to enjoy the video! When it comes to the tarot of Hidden Realm .. I am quite the same but exactly the opposite. I was so tempted by Forhaxa tarot and have been for a long time. I watched the video you made about it and saw you speak about it in your monthly journaling .. but as much as I love the bond you created with it .. it’s not for me. I prefer the Hidden Realm and it helps that I don’t see them as perfect beings. I understand though where you come from because Fae energy shouldn’t be perfect imo .. The reason I prefer the Hidden Realm is purely because I see Fae energy as elemental too and I relate a lot to earth grounded dirt energy .. which I find in Hidden Realm where in Forhaxa, I feel a lot of it is fire and I don’t connect to that. It has a lot to do with the elements from my birth chart .. my dominant elements are earth and water .. and I am drown to these energies a lot because these are where I find my balance. I don’t mind few elements of fire in the deck but not for it to be predominantly.
I enjoyed as I always do .. listening to your thought process with each deck. I love the tarot of Vampyre .. and I don’t read Thoth but I know it has hints of it. I can’t wait to hear about your experience with it :) ..
I am often chilly so I wear lots of long sleeves and sweaters. 🙂 Maybe it's the fire element in Forhaxa that draws me, as I do have a bit of fire in my chart. That's so interesting!
We have so many similar thoughts and impressions on many of these! This was SO FUN can't wait for part 2!! Is it tomorrow??
It.was actually really helpful to express my thoughts out loud, kinda helped me figure out what I was really thinking and feeling. I think part two is Thursday. 🙂
O the mysterious of mary tarot has been on my wishlist for so long.
Really interesting video!
Yet again, another fabulous video. Loved this so much. I, do not really connect to Fae energy, so it was refreshing to hear your take on your Fae decks.
I just don't really feel like I get Fae energy. I hate Frouds deck for a while, and was like, oh no, these creatures are not for me. 🙂
The cover photo on the Bohemian Gothic is Edward Cullen from Twilight. (Robert Pattinson). I just can't unsee it. 😋
Oh my, I didn't know that. Well that seals that deal for me... Out it goes! 😁
Thank you for your honesty,l really think Bohemian Gothic is overrated and l dont understand the hype.
I love Mother Mary Oracle. Seems I go for that deck the most when doing an oracle read. I seem to resonate with Alana Fairchild's work. 😊 Feel the same as you with the Lightworker deck. Beautiful art, but couldn't connect with the messages. I personally love the glossy decks, and pocket size as I have bad arthritis and they are easier to shuffle. That Gothic deck makes me feel like I need to put on a sweater, lol!
I've enjoyed this video and also everyone's comments and all the different viewpoints. ❤️❤️
It's one of the reasons why I said no to The Witches Wisdom Tarot, cause I have The Green Witch Tarot and that deck is my Earthy Deck and will never let go at all. The Ian Daniel's Vampire Deck, I still haven't click purchase yet or have gone to my witch store to purchase yet.
Love listening the reason's behind why others are purgatory their Decks and anti hauls. Am looking forward to your part 2!
I have been loving your recent videos including this one where you talk about how you can love the art and everything but does it make sense for how you read or see the Tarot.
I find I’m asking myself the same questions I have decks I love for the art but they don’t make sense in my reading or I have trouble connecting. I admire your dedication to deep diving into decks to really understand and give these decks a real chance in your collection. I looks forward to future videos as I find myself figuring out my reading style still and I keep coming back to elements and numerology.
Do you feel like your favorite decks make it easier for you to read this way?
Hmm good question, I haven't really looked at them with that in mind but that might make a great video! 🙂
I vote for modding the witches’ wisdom tarot! 😇😁 And I’m so excited to hear you’re planning a video on how you read tarot.
Would love to see you trim the witches wisdom. Really enjoyed this Dawn Michelle
That might make a fun mod with me video! 🙂
Man, the Bohemian Gothic is one of those FOMO decks for me! I have used it before, because a friend of mine has it, so I think I would work well with it. I had the option on several occasions to purchase it before it went out of print and then again had the option to purchase the mini and didn't because I was new to the world of tarot and didn't realize how they printed their decks. I am hopeful they reprint it and I get a copy. BUT also....have my eye on your purgatory copy. Heh. Kidding..sort of... :D
The mother Mary deck is beautiful
For the Witches Wisdom tarot, maybe some white out would help? 😋 An easier deck mod than chopping everything off. I have the same issue with the deck, and am considering that solution. Since I'm still learning tarot, it's either that or not use the deck because it's too confusing to learn multiple systems, but oh my goodness, love the artwork, love the book.
That's what I was wondering too, if a little whiteout would do the trick. I might give it a try in an upcoming video.
That’s crazy, I always feel like I know the characters in the tarot of the hidden realm
I hope I can get my hands on the bohemian gothic tarot… apparently I had the opposite of fomo with it. Didn’t know I shouldn’t put it off 😢
Mysteries of Mary is one of my favourite decks but I managed to get over my shock horror and watch the rest of the video j/k. Also that Magdalene deck does look like a hot mess but now I want to order it. These videos are bad for my wallet lol.
Lol it is a bit of a hot mess, but it's a good reader. 🙂
Know what's funny? As someone who isn't super well-versed in Tarot yet and hasn't memorized the numbers of the major arcana in a traditional-style deck, I find that the reversed and reimagined order of the Witch's Wisdom major arcana makes complete sense to me. I love the process that Phyllis Curott went through to reimagine the deck and the intent behind it. I agree though, they are just too damn big, and I can see how it would be jarring to someone who has worked with an established order within the Tarot for years.
I can totally see how it would make sense if you’re just learning. The only issue I foresee with this deck when you’re first starting out is that every other tarot deck out there is going to have the majors in the traditional order so that might make it hard to work with other decks if this is the one you learn from. 😀 Still a beautiful deck tho!
@@DawnMichelleTarot Yes, it is gorgeous!
Purgatory Decks!!! Hahahahaha I LOOOOVE the title
hehe it's such a fun term we all use in the community. :)
I was nodding my head in agreement when you were discussing the Rebecca Campbell decks and the Bohemian Gothic. I tried SO hard with the Bohemian Gothic! I didn't know you had Tarot of Vampyres! I traded it a long while back for the Star Tarot, and I sometimes consider giving it another try because, hello: vampires!! 😂
Glad it's not just me with those decks! I haven't worked with the Vampyres yet, but I'm excited to. 🙂
As for the Witches Wisdom, if you have tried to work with it in so many ways but it still doesn’t work, then maybe let it go? My WW clicked so naturally with my reading style and it’s one of my most used deck (I don’t work with numerology in the majors). But if it doesn’t work with your reading style, it would be harder to keep trying to vibe with it than to let it go. I’ve been there with a deck that I love so much even now, but it just didn’t vibe with me energetically. I’m so happy that I could gift it to a friend and she has amazing readings with it.
Great video! I really enjoyed this… I’m now thinking of getting the Gaia Oracle to go with the Tarot of Light 😆.. I wish I could get the Weaver Oracle but indie decks from the US are just way out of my budget right now but I guess that’s how my spirit guides help me keep a smaller collection 😁… I do love a lot of Blue Angel decks.. I’m looking to pass on my Witches Wisdom even thought the art is beautiful… I know people who’ve taken white tape and renumbered the majors… I might do that 🤔
The beautiful Witches Wisdom - I wrote the 'proper' (lol) number to the right of the title, leaving the original one on. It looks great and now I can work with it :-)
(I like your videos and noticed your absense for a bit. I hope you're well and I'm looking to your new posts :-)
@@OfWavesAndWinds that is so kind of you! Thank you for your comment... indeed, maybe this is just about a simple mod of the numbers. I will be back this weekend. 💖
@@darkfaetarot Looking forward to it :-)
Ok, some of these were complete shockers! Which I think adds a lot of fun to the video, lol. But wow, the Mysteries of Mary really surprised me.
As always, I love hearing your thoughts, you're so clear, detailed and respectful towards all decks 💚
Btw, I saw an upcoming French oracle deck that instantly made me think of you... its name is Oracle Dauphins et Baleines by Frédérique Pichard and I think you might want to check it out 🐋
Ooh thank you, I'll definitely check that out! 🙂
Ok, your title for this vid made me laugh. And your point that we assume that since everyone else loves a deck, of course we will, really hit home. So from now on I'm going to think "it's not you, it's me" when I get a deck I don't jive with. I totally agree with you on Bohemian Gothic (boy, that admission hurts) it misses the mark for me. So many fabu Halloween-y decks fit the bill over that one. Also decks that change the names of cards, the order of cards, the numbering of cards just annoy me. Yes, I have to think too dang hard, drag out the guidebook and cause the flow to falter...no. I can't do them. I'm not surprised about Mysteries of Mary. I appreciate it in so many ways....except the ways I need to appreciate a tarot deck. It was expensive, took 143 days to reach me and leaves me bored when ever I try to use it. Sorry that was harsh, but true. Thank you for the funny, honest and too the point way you have addressed this issue we all struggle with!
Yes, that's totally it with the Mysteries of Mary! I really appreciate it as a stunning body of art, but I need to be able to appreciate it as a Tarot. You hit on exactly what I was trying to figure out how to say. 🙂 Thank you for that! ❤️
So…. Now I have a whole bunch more decks I want after watching this 😅😅😅
Loved the video! 😍 and about the Witches wisdom: do you think it would be a good ideia to use a white pen to cover the numbers on the majors? Like we do it when we want to erase a mistake on a white page🙈 don’t know if it’s something helpful, but I thought about it when you mentioned the problem with the number :)
I agree with you when it comes to the Witches Wisdom tarot and numbering system. Although the artwork is beautiful, unfortunately the numbers and order annoyed the hell out of me and disrupted my flow and natural intuitive readings. So much so, that I ended up returning it a week after I purchased it. The stupid numbers really ruin it for sure.
Dear Dawn,
I have a request to make.
You are one of the most viewed and appreciated knowledgeable about Oracles and Tarot.
Yesterday I saw a Channel “Wolf of Coins" made a video call (4 Oracles for 4 Elements) to choose oracles representing the 4 different elements.
I look for more videos with that theme and I couldn't find anything.
I would like to ask if you could make a # to show us different oracles that can serve us and help represent the different four elements (fire, water, air and earth). I wish you could make it possible, thank you very much.
God Bless 🙏🏻
That sounds like fun, I'll definitely make a note of it! 🙂
@@DawnMichelleTarot Thank you for your quick reply. Since the loss of my mother in 2020 I began to look for spiritual channels that will help me deal with my loss. In that search you were a one of the channels that I began to see and admire for all your knowledge in the spiritual world that reflects the bundles of tarot and oracles.
Should be more, channel’s like yours, because when they do some # there are channels that what to be part of the #, and do not take the same responsibility to show the decks with respect and knowledge. They only talk about topics not related to the decks, and do not show the cards for us to appreciate them.
I think they should treat the issues of the decks with more respect. I make this observation with humility. I wish you all abundance and prosperity in every way, God bless 🙏🏻
Oh yeah!! Tarot of the Vampyres, it is SO 90's vampires. It's Interview with a Vampire by the way of Lost Boys (with, let say, Spike). I wasn't sure at first, but now that I have that image in mind, I think I like it even more! 😄
Also: Yes!! I would love to hear more about how you read numerologically!!
I really struggle with the witches wisdom tarot because of the cardstock. So sad... I thought about painting over the major numbers and / or writing the usual number too. And still thinking about possibly trimming the cards on the bottom and Al little bit on the sides... I totally get the struggles with this deck! Oh, and I do absolutely not connect to the bohemian gothic, at all. Thought it was just me 😜
I love the idea of the Witches Wisdom but the card stock is a huge hurdle. Funny how the way the cards shuffle can be such a dealbreaker. But I suppose for me that is part of what sets the tone for my reading.
@@beeyourself04 yes! It is so difficult to concentrate on the drawing of the cards when I feel like fighting for a shuffle that feels good for me 🙁
Yeah the cardstock is a bit disappointing to be sure.
The reverse order of the majors in the Witches Wisdom Tarot has kept me from working with it. I’ve tried, but it throws me off and it fries my brain. Maybe it’s because I’m still very new to tarot. I keep hoping that I will be able to wrap my brain around it someday.
You're definitely not the only one! The numbers are quite foundational to the way I work with tarot in general so I'm not interested in adjusting that for just one deck. 🙂
Hi i love watching your videos 😍 I'm interested in the bohemian gothic let me know where do you sale it 👀
Will you be selling any of the ones you are moving on from? I’m super interested in one!
Oops I see the link now! My apologies :) I see the one I liked seems to have been purchased. I’ll search! BTW I love and appreciate your videos!
I just started to make one deck out of the work your light & the starseed oracle.. 😂 After watching your video.. Lol
Oh don't get me wrong, I used it ton and I do like it combined. But I know the other oracle is coming. 🙂
@@DawnMichelleTarot It's funny I didn't realize how long it was going to take me to do this A lot of similar messages. But now I have to finish it ; because not all the messages resonate with me. Oh my goodness this is a project.. 😊
.. Also your channel is awesome! 💞 & 🕯️ Blessed Be!
I a walkthrough on those Rebecca Campbell decks and I thought the art looked beautiful but when I started researching more and got some samples of her writing I was like noooope. Bless it for the people it does resonate with but it just wasn't for me.
Yes !!! The Zombie wins every time !! A fabulous reader, affordable and great art !! 🧟♂️🧟♀️ Do you own the Stretch Tarot ? Another great deck for "dark" readings.
I don't, but it's definitely one I've looked at many times. I've have to give it another look. 🙂
I can see what you mean with the Gaia Oracle. I own his Lovers Oracle and I can see so many similar/same-ish images. Half the images are something I have seen on there. So gonna skip this deck for now, and other Toni Salerno ones as well. 🙊🙊
Yeah I’ve just got the one and that’s plenty for me. 🥰
I find myself wanting the hush tarot more and more…
It's okay. I don't like the Bohemian Gothic tarot either. XD I never owned a deck by Baba Studios, and I don't think I will? The vibe a Baba Studios deck would give me is, "It insists upon itself." If that's one's jam, cool! But, yeah, not for me. :3
Agree with the Baba Studios vibe. Just looking at their old listings and seeing how almost smug they are about having such rare decks that people are willing to spend big $$$$ to get a used copy of kinda put me off. Don't know if my desire for Bohemian Gothic is out of genuine interest, desperation for a gothic deck with an art style I actually like, or plain ol FOMO.
Oooh madam Lydia oh too sad it’s hard to get :(😢
hi DM I like the Madam Lydia tarot too, what did you use to edge it? ❤️ how it looks!
Oh I'm not sure it was a whole ago,l. I think that was a combo of Tombow and ink pad, but I'd have to look at my supplies and see if I could figure out which ones.
@@DawnMichelleTarot aww ty for your response! and don’t worry about it! I’ll try to match it! ❤️
Why not mod the Rebecca Campbell decks down to just the artwork and use them as altar cards (or of the ones you really love)?
I've cut the text off of those and written my own key words based on what I get from the images on the cards I like and I use them that way.
Not a bad idea, I'll have to think about that! 🙂
I don't care for the Bohemian Gothic Tarot. Just so you know, you're not alone. :D
I like art that’s different. I always end up getting the decks with different artists work. I blame it on my adhd
Bohemian Gothic 😍😍😍drool. Renumbering the majors is just...why? That would bother me too. No need to reinvent the wheel. 💜
My thoughts exactly! It totally throws off my tarot game when they do that. 😀
I have never ever ever wanted the Bohemian Gothic. Never. Or the Witches Wisdom Tarot. And I ordered the oracle from England so I wouldn't have to wait for the US release. Bur my gut reaction to the mod is white out the numbers. Cutting the lower part of the cards will affect the artwork, and not in a good way. Just a thought.
I just gave my Bohemian Gothic Tarot to my daughter who was thrilled to get it. It just doesn't resonate anymore, and the cards are too dark. I thought I'd be brokenhearted, but nah. It's fine.
That's good to know because I think I'm just really ready to let it go. I'm not even sure why I still have it at this point lol.
I've never been drawn to the Weavers Oracle. I didn't get it because I just knew I wasn't going to be able to connect with it. I don't understand the hype over it. Nothing against the art or the deck creator. I just don't understand it... My only thing is when a deck is expensive or OOP I have a hard time letting go of them. I would say if you can sell it and get your money back then it might be worth it.
In the system of tarot, there is energy in the numbers. Look at pip style cards. The energy of the number is in full force. The picture needs to capture the energy of the number of the card. If the pictures have nothing to do with the numerical energy, the card becomes disharmonious. It’s like hearing a song played off key. Tarot is a system. Some people try to mess with the system itself and the result is an ostentatious mess.
That is how I feel too! The numbers have meaning and I just can't work with the cards when the numbers are off.
Witches’ Wisdom is my soul deck, but I don’t care about the numbers. The fact that they flip the majors around is a big plus for me, because it makes me look at things differently. Green Witch is too explicitly Wiccan for me. It feels like dabbling in somebody else’s religion.
The Witches Wisdom... **sigh** I LOVE the artwork. I like the idea to make "The Fool's Journey" backwards. But - BUT! - I wish it'd be just the guidebook and no numbers on the cards. I'd buy/order it right NOW if that'd be the case. But with the numbers on the cards... I'd love to get more into working with a deck like this, that's not RWS. I thought about buying it anyway and just trimming it, removing the titles. Would fix the major problem (and my main problem with the deck) but I guess that'd make it harder for me to work with the minors. I could write the number and element on the minors, but I don't like doing that. Can they just make a new edition without numbers on the majors? Pls?
I'm right there with you! They could have put the names on the cards and left the numbers off the majors. Then you could work with it either way.
If you decide to sell the bohemian gothic tarot, it goes for 350£ on Ebay...
Everybody does NOT like the Bohemian Gothic Tarot - watching your flip through I was like - hell no. Just get rid of it and don’t think twice.
Hehe it's good to know I'm not the only one!
I’m surprised that you think you don’t connect with fey. Literally almost every deck you have is laced full of nature and elementals…..flower etc…. Which is the entire wholeness of faerie. Nature = Fey. 🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️
Ooh, well maybe I've been working with them all along and just didn't know it! Maybe I should do a bit more research. 🙂
If you want to sale or trade any please let me know as l accidentally order 2 decks
I think all the decks from this video have been rehomed but you can check my latest video. 😀
Oh! Don't chop the cards! Just use tape corrector and re-write the numbers, etc.
Let's take a look at decks you like better than Bohemian Gothic... I thought you were going to say ALL OF THEM 😆
Hehe, well that's very true! I don't know what it is about that deck, the more I look at it, the more it turns me off! 🙂
Sounds like the Witch's Wisdom is a no for you. Beautiful art doesn't just make a great reading deck unfortunately.
That is definitely a lesson I have to keep reminding myself off. 🙂 I can appreciate the art but not connect with it as a deck.
Baba Studio and FOMO! That should be a separate topic deserving more attention, lol. (Thank you for your honest opinion. I just cancelled the Victorian Romantic tarot order after I realised I don't like 'Victorian' nor 'Romantic' and the only reason I'm bying it is FOMO!, lol. BTW- I'm still lusting after the Fantastic Menagerie Tarot, but that is because I actually love the artwork and theme.)
I went to the page and debated buying Victorian Romantic about 7 times since it's been avaliable this run. It's not really my thing either and Bohemian Gothic is the one I'm actually interested in (though less so now that I saw more of the cards in this video lol), so it would purely be a FOMO purchase that I'd probably just end up reselling which feels like bad juju all around.
@@lunaserpent443 Lol, I bought a few decks before I realised that the supply is endless and I really need to be picky. What I do now is I go through a YT walkthrough and mark how many cards I actually like and how many I don't. It stopped me from buying a lot of popular decks and helped me to refine my preferences.
@@OfWavesAndWinds that’s an excellent idea, thanks for sharing.
