Is it just me or do these older NYC ball drops seem way better in comparison to the new ones? the fireworks, the confetti, the crowd, just seems like everyone’s enjoying themselves a lot more.

@@ChuckieLove2008 Charles himself told me that he promised the University at which the music was composed at that it would never be for public hearing, I was, however, able to obtain all 5 of his songs from the 2000 celebration, my favorite being his rendition of Fanfare for the Common Man. I have yet to find any cover of that song better than his. He did release the final song heard during the celebration, Closing Music, which was a reprise of Times Circle, Ascent of Time, and Rhythm of Light mixed into one song, in full to the public, but the song has since been removed from the website. Here's a run-down of what each song essentially sounds like. The first song played during the event was Times Circle, 3 minutes and 25 seconds of what sounds like something Manheim Steamroller came up. The beginning starts with basically a choir vocalizing and preparing themselves for the main song and leads into a very spacy sci-fi sounding portion of the song and then leads into the main part which sounds somewhat tribal, but electronic and then a very angelic choir paired with very angelic instrumentals. As Times Circle ends, it plays seamlessly into Fanfare for the Common man, which lasts about 3 minutes 22 seconds. The first minute and half of Fanfare for the Common Man sounds very outer spacey with his use of electronic trumpet and bells/chimes. The vocals sang by the late Katherine Keem with the Johns Hopkins choir are spectacularly angelic in conjunction with the electronic bells/chime, church organ and trumpet Charles used. I won't lie, hearing the full version for the first time made me cry, it was that beautiful. It didn't help I was driving at the time XD. Rhythm of Light was one of his songs that was not televised and could have only been heard if you were in the Square at the time or have a copy of the full song, and as the song progresses, visits numerous countries, such as Africa, Russia, Middle East, and a few others, from what I can hear in the full song. I was given his songs on the promise I never distributed it for any reason without license, which wasn't cheap, about $2500 per song to license. While I can share the demo versions of each song, I cannot share the full versions (except for Closing Music, but at a lower audio quality), as I promised Charles I wouldn't.
Yes. This man is also the creator of the animated countdowns from 2008-2020, and he has them and other material that no one else has or will be able to obtain. It's like owning things that only one example is known to exist, as a former coin collector I can relate. However, since Toshiba is no longer the sponsor of the video board, it could be more likely that the raw 2008-2020 countdowns will surface on the internet. Only Toshiba themselves can allow Voyage400 to release them. I've tried contacting them in 2019 or so but to no avail. As for Ascent of Time, I can make a source merge of what IS available on the internet, the first part being on the AP Archive upload (search for "entertainment weekly: Times Square") and this is most of the second half. That'll have to do as the best available copy until Charles releases it.
Its a slim chance considering how close we're born to 2000, but not impossible. Wish you all the best health. Hope to meet you guys back here again in 77 years.
