    Question 1: Awareness, what is your experience of yourself?
    Question 2: Awareness, do you ever experience yourself appearing or disappearing?

    From my perspective the problem is most people dont understand the difference between "Consciousness Awareness" the Knowing or Awareness of experience, timeless and infinite, never started, never stops, and the "Content of Consciousness" being thoughts, sensations and perceptions, objects we are aware of, which indeed is an emergent phenomena, a bain process, information processing etc etc.
    Make this difference as big as possible, by taking more interest in "Consciousness Awareness" rather than the "Content of Consciousness".
    The problem is most people are lost in their thoughts, lost in the "Content of Consciousness", not spending more time looking at that Awareness that Witnesses the experience of being lost in their thoughts. They wrongly belive they are their thoughts, sensations and pereceptions. They see all the objects in a room but dont consider the space that allows all the objects in the room to exist! Then they also wrongly belive if we destroy the objects in the room, the space that contains those objects is also gone. Pity them.
    Abide in the Awareness more and more, and see what happens.
    Offcourse if you have a unsubstinated belief that this "Content of Consciousness" is also brain produced, is also an object in the "Content of Consciousness" , and stick to that then its never ending suffering.

    I've never understood this line of questioning. If you imagine that awareness does come from the body and does die and go away the answers are still the same. As a conscious beings we never perceive anything we don't perceive. If we "go away" at sleep or at death we won't be there to know it. Knowing that awareness can't know it's nonexistence doesn't tell us anything about it's nature. This seems so obvious (that you get the same answers whether awareness is everything or if it springs from the body) I don't understand why Rupert never addresses is head on.

      You are still coming from the body mind perspective. But that is not what your are but only an experience you are having. What you really are is that what is having this experience: infinite conciousness perceiving itself. This is the first thing you need to understand.

      Once you become aware of reality then the life experience becomes a glide rather than a struggle. In self awareness there is peace and joy. There is non resistance and non judgement. There is no longer good and bad hard or easy. Everything is just as it is. The world of form is then viewed as a play that you are experiencing. You don’t mind what happens in each moment or scene. You already know the ending, which is there is no end- just a dissolution of the body mind.

  • @SWo2007
    @SWo2007 7 лет назад +1

    "Do you, awareness, ever come into contact with something outside of yourself?" There is new "stuff" appearing in awareness, "stuff" I have not previously been aware of. Otherwise the question boils down to the tautology "Are you ever aware of something you are not aware of?" Linguistic problem?

    • @AurobindPadiyath
      @AurobindPadiyath 7 лет назад +2

      +Simon Woods You are right. That state is what or where the language fails. Thoughts like a river can be tracked and at the estuary one starts loosing the track and at the river mouth the identity is lost yet it has not become the ocean. Many who track get confused from the estuary a sense of achievement and stop the tracking. Once you have merged with the ocean there's no further tracking. The droplet, that you are, which was expressing as thoughts, river or life, was the river and also the ocean until the merger. The merger is for the onlooker and not for the droplet. It was, is and will be always in essence the water at all onto of time. One can use metaphor but no metaphor is the exemplified. That's why the language fails. Because there's only one Consciousness reflected in every existance as both Consciousness and Existence.

    • @bernardchampeau5301
      @bernardchampeau5301 7 лет назад +4

      Linguistic problem for sure Simons, but not easy to explain : whatever appears is not an object, it is awareness itself. The screen you are looking at, the words you are reading right now, they are not made of matter or light, they are coming to you "as" awareness, and so is everything else : the mind trying to understand, the mind trying to explain, awareness is the raw material of all that appears, whatever the shape, the colour, whatever the stuff it seems to be made of, it can only be awareness. Un-awareness never appears.

    • @tyroneslyce4879
      @tyroneslyce4879 7 лет назад +2

      Simon Woods There is no new "stuff" that enters into awareness.. everything is known and perceived by awareness, just not self-reflectively so. For example, you know that you are breathing, but you are not self reflectively contemplating that fact until it is placed into the sphere of self reflection.
      You're not talking about awareness, you're talking about the property of self reflection.

    • @TomAnderson_81
      @TomAnderson_81 7 лет назад +1

      Tyrone Slyce Isn't Awareness the "experiencer" of everything but still, everything that is experienced is WITHIN the Awareness and never outside of the Awareness?

    • @tyroneslyce4879
      @tyroneslyce4879 7 лет назад

      1981andybt I'm a substance monist/monistic idealist.. So, Awareness is everything, but awareness is not chairs, or just a single sub-atomic particle, (because sub-atomic particles aren't ''things'' perse, they are the mental activity within consciousness. An activity can be embodied, but it cannot be consciousness itself). Just like I would say that we aren't the brain, we are merely incarnated within the activity, that is the brain. A good way to look at this is to say that the universe is God's brain, but not his awareness. There is no sense in which you can be the universe in of itself, it can merely be embodied as a unified, process of disassociated awareness within mind. The medium in which those things exist, we are the essence of this awareness.

    So, during the climax of a successful self-enquiry (''who am I?'') why can I still observe the world (sensory perception) throughout?, this being that Rupert claims the world is observed through the mind (a thought) which ive allegedly, albeit momentarily, collapsed into its source ('awareness) therefore, again, why can I still observe phenomena during self - enquiry? I think I'm having a bit of an ah-ha moment here at I think 10:20 in the video when Rupert asks if anyone has ever experienced anything outside consciousness and I had been wondering, well, wouldn't the dark room next door in which I've never gone count as outside my consciousness? Yes, but I haven't experienced that room. I think that's my breakthrough here. What about that room? Well, who knows. I'm not responsible for being aware of it if I've never been in it. The burden of proof is on the materialists. Who says there's even a room? Just because it's implied, who's to say it's not an implication of consciousness. The materialists are the ones who believe--with a religious fervour, frankly--that there are all these rooms in the complex (!) that are made of matter and are just waiting for us willing little materialists to go exploring. I'm not prejudiced against matter per se--some of my best friends are made of matter--but as far as I know matter is no more than an experience inside my awareness. Also, I love Rupert's oft-repeated question: have you ever experienced your non-existence? And no offence to Jehovah, fact is in my consciousness I have no more beginning nor end than the Big J Himself. Whoah. I'd like to pass the buck back upstairs, but it looks like after all there's no one more responsible for the world than this consciousness of, well, of mine. To be honest, Rupert is like the dark room. I hadn't heard of him until a fortnight ago. He's so good, however, that if he didn't exist, I'd have to invent him. Heh heh and also not heh heh.

      Look up mooji, he walks you through, that may help you. I simply ask myself, "Are you aware?" You'll notice in that very awareness, a sense of spaciousness, an intangible quality that is not a physical object, but it is something, feels like nothing....after a while you'll notice that field of space is still, and it is always the same in that it is unchanging and permanent. you can come back to this awareness any day, any month, it will be the same, while the outer world has changed. Even if you sense that "awareness," for 15 seconds at first, come back and abide in that spaciousness as much as possible, after a while it will grow and you'll see that it is more real that your world (thoughts). Your world changes, the awareness is untainted, unmoving, permanent. Buddha said what is permanent is real, what changes is illusory.

      Pause as much you need and Wait until the answer downs in you,clearly:'Yes'.
      Than,ask yourself again:
      'Am I Awreness?'
      Wait and SEE for yourself the Answer

    All that you have to do to explore the nature of consciousness is to look at it through an electronic microscope.

    It’s as probable that my personal consciousness will survive the death of the material body that I inhabit, as it will be that the personal consciousness of an alligator will survive the death of the material body that he or she inhabits.

      @@user-ld9sl9ko7g I suggest that Jordan believes his personal consciousness is at one with the consciousness of his personal image of a an all-powerful GOD.

    But what about lets say a computer. The computer runs and I shut him off (like a human going to deep sleep). After some time I turn the machine on again. The computer doesnt know anything about that time in between. He could not collect data. For him its like when humans wake up after annesthesia. They were not aware because they were shut down.
    But what if I completely destroy the computer. Its again like shutting him down. He cant collect any data. He is not aware. But now he will never be aware again. The computer is completely gone. Destroyed.
    I dont understand how it should be different for humans.
    After my body is dead i will not be aware like in deep sleep but how can I ever be aware of something again now that I am no more?
    I am annihalated...
    Maybe its true that you reincarnate in another body again.
    Then "you" will be aware again till the next death. It would be an endless chain of experiencing life because you are not aware in the time from death till birth. That time in between doesnt exist for one self.
    But why should it then on the other hand be good to break through that endless cycle of life. If I cant experience something any more, be aware of something or just be.
    If i wont be reborn i wont be aware any more. So I am truly dead. Dead like in a materialistic kind of philosophy.
    Does anyone have a good answer?
    An answer from own experience?
    Sorry for the bad english.

      You have to understand that "you" don't exist in the first place. Who you think you are is an illusion. Your true nature doesn't go anywhere.

    Why the hell do you need to explore the nature of consciousness?

      kekfuszal so you don't spend the rest of your life living in the prison of self you currently live in. So you see your true nature as unlimited and boundless. To experience true love and freedom.
