    I look forward to seeing this legendary Loco to come back to steam. Hopefully it'll do a reunion with its brother, 2102.

      Greetings, should an opportunity arise that can logistically be done, and is financially viable, ASR will do everything possible to make a meeting with the 2102 happen. But first, we need to complete the 2100's restoration, please consider donating or buying an AFT 250 or Reading 2100 item from our gift store at www.americansteamrailroad.org

    The American freedom train #250 might be the most biggest railroad steam event in steam railroading history

      @@AmericanSteamRailroad I have a question about future plans after the 250th anniversary of the United States in 2026. Is it possible that 2100 might be in other paint schemes that were used or suggested for the Reading T1’s like the chessie steam special and the proposed Conrail steam program livery for 2101 that was going to be used that unfortunately never happened because of the Roundhouse fire that 2101 was in? The Conrail paint scheme is actually something that is confirmed was going to happen, and in fact, the Conrail historical society actually has the concept art of this I can guarantee that doing either one of those would attract a lot of attention! Plus seeing a steam locomotive in Conrail or chessie system colors would be quite unique since both of those are Road names of post steam era railroads.

    Are you guys interested in buying passenger equipment and cars? Insurance in terms of renting passenger cars these days can be expensive, which is part of the reason why Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society is rebuilding their passenger fleet. Would also help if the host railroad doesnt own any passenger cars.

      Hello, currently all of our resources are focused on the 2100 and our tool car. Since all of our conversations with railroads at this time have their own passenger equipment, we are not currently pursuing owning our own cars at this time, however we are open to discussing car donations which has been done with other organizations, with revenue then being shared.

    I would love to work there and build drive and restore locomotives but I don't have experience and don't live anywhere close by

    • @AmericanSteamRailroad
      @AmericanSteamRailroad  5 месяцев назад +1

      Hi Logan, please don't let a lack of experience stop you from pursuing your interests in life, as many of us at ASR (including myself) did not have any prior railroad or steam locomotive experience. We have school teachers, truck drivers, computer programmers (that is me), advertising & marketing consultants, and many others who have learned many new skills over the years.
      While living far away may be another issue with doing "hands on" work, those who Spread The Word and encourage others to join or donate is also vital, as a tremendous amount of money is needed to bring steam back to life. Please consider helping us and the AFT 250 in this way, thank you, Forrest Nace - ASR Treasurer

      @@AmericanSteamRailroad thanks for the encouragement and I already figured out how to build Lady from thomas and the magic railroad after learning about rebuilds and modifications but I don't have the time, money, equipment, or man power so.

    First get #2100 up and running, then we'll worry about passener cars. Hell, seats in gondolas will be fine with us! I hear the #2102 group is giving tech advice and support. Nice.

      Hello! Yes, the R&N with the 2102 have provided us with information and vendors that have made our work more efficient, as well as donating some new and good used parts to us. They have also loaned us specialty tools at times. We have also been able to provide them with some information as both locomotives have been altered over the years, and in some cases the 2100 was more "original" so we could provide bracket locations and measurements to assist them. Please consider donating today or making a purchase from our gift store so we can continue our progress at: www.americansteamrailroad.org

    2 questions. 1. will there be any more locomotives that will be pulling the AFT? 2. Will the AFT be on the same route it was on back in the 70s or a different route?

    • @AmericanSteamRailroad
      @AmericanSteamRailroad  4 месяца назад +1

      Hello, good questions! ASR is just closely recreating the T-1 locomotive, which we will use to pull other museum's and tourist railroad's passenger equipment. Our "route" will be to go to locations that we have agreements with to operate at, which we expect to only be in the northeast. Thank you for your interest.
