I wouldn’t recommend it 🤷🏼♀️ it’s not really good safe. If the surface chips, it becomes a breeding ground for bacteria. And it really doesn’t hold up super great.
It dries bumpy because of the roller

You did a great job. Everything looks so pretty. I remember when we were on a very tight budget, it was Christmas, we went to the woods and cut a tree and I had been saving the tops of canned food. I painted and my husband made a hope in them so we put a string in them to hang on tree. We had been married for 1 year and lived in North Carolina, my husband was in the Marines. Next month we will have sixty second anniversary and live in Littlefield, TX. It is amazing what you can do with just a little money and an imagination. Thanks for sharing with us.❤️

I will just cover my countertops in contact paper...bcuz if I screw up or don’t like it...it just peels off...that mug display is GORGEOUS...GREAT JOB

Tip that you can use on your laundry basket the little brown baskets you have on the shelf... you can buy some black ribbon (satin) 1 to 2 inches and just put bows on the handles of the basket or wrap entire handle with ribbon to match and then put a bow at the end and it will enhance the color coordination that you were going for. You did a great job!

Everything came out beautiful, I love your house, it is just the right size, easier to clean! The countertops came out great, I think i may try that idea, I have the Formica wooden look from the 80s, it's in good shape but just not modern. The kitchen cabinets are also Formica, so I may try a different color for those. Who knows, still thinking about it. Thanks for the ideas!

I think I would swap the coffee bar and the microwave to give you more counter space. Everything is so bright and airy, moving the microwave would takeout that black hole!
I wish I could move the microwave but there isn't a space for it anywhere :( the coffee station isn't deep enough to hold it
I agree with Cheri Paul, I would have preferred to have a microwave that mounted over the stove, to free up the counter space, and maybe if your budget allows in the future, you can find one that does on FB marketplace. I liked your DIY makeover on the kitchen table, but I would have preferred that round one you replaced, and have done a natural table top to that, only bc of the tight space.. again, I don’t know what your family size is.. this is my first time to see your blog.. overall, I loved your color scheme .. and let me know how the countertops hold up, I’m inspired to do the same to mine... thank you!! I will keep watching !!!

I have the same collection of starbuck mugs and live in a 1300 sq ft almost 100 year old house. DIY projects don’t always go how you first envisioned but only once I just had to have my husband repaint that same day. You are motivating to change up what I have done a few years ago. Thanks

try it! We've had ours done for over a month now and still love them!
Love what you did in kitchen. I have 5 ruggables. If you have any trouble with the ends curling up get some double sided tape, the size of duct tape, and put it on the Velcro layer and just press down good on the rug. Mine are sticking great.
We haven’t had any trouble so far but thank you so much for the tip!

I didn’t know that 🤔 I’m sure if you’re going to be doing a lot of home improvement projects though, it would be cheaper just to buy the tool instead of always renting

Beautiful job. Big difference. A lot of people don’t realize that for a couple hundred bucks you can get totally new countertop at a home improvement store, and it won’t potentially peel. For sink position, just use old countertop as template. Super easy and to be honest, overall, faster and more durable.

We have had no issues with the countertops so far 🤗
I painted our countertops when we first moved into our house using the Gianni countertop painting set (which, as the name suggests, is specifically meant for countertops and comes with primers/sealers) and they started scratching after about 2 years. By year 3, they were completely peeling up. We took good care of them and followed all instructions. Painting countertops will get you by for a while, but it IS temporary unless you use something like a countertop epoxy on top.

BELLA I wish! If they had been granite, I’d have never painted over them. 😊 They were some type of laminate that we sanded slightly before applying the primer so that it would have the best chance at sticking. We’ve since ripped out that countertop and replaced it since the paint had peeled up so much and there was really no saving it.

Is polycrylic food safe? Honestly, they look good but I don’t think it’ll last. Hope they do, but I doubt it. Home Depot sells specific countertop paint. Which would’ve been a lot easier and less steps and probably around the same price or cheaper
We've had no issues so far, they've been painted for about a month. Eventually we want to replace the countertops but just couldn't afford it yet so this was the cheapest option for us right now.

I love how this turned out. It looks great! A little tip if you don't mind me saying, if you ever want to update your stove hood vent they sell stainless steel paint. Use that and the hood vent will match your appliances well :)

Great update!! A cute idea to put on the wall to the right of the laundry room door. Paint some wooden letters black to form HOME or EAT for the dining room area. Also make your own sign(s) for over the doors.

You should consider removing the range hood and installing the microwave in its place, above your stove/range. We did this in our last house and it was pretty simple- frees up more counter space!
Your new kitchen space looks incredible. Well done! Place a stand or cabinet at one end of your counter and place your microwave on that. That will give you more working space on the kitchen counter. Love what you have done. Thank you for sharing the process, I learned a lot.

I definitely agree that changing around the dining area was a huge game changer! We've been on a tight budget for our entire adult lives lol. I love sharing ways to save money while still being able to have your "wants" and not just the "needs" :)
I’ve used marble contact paper and that turns out beautifully. You have to be careful not to use knives on the counter itself but it held up really well to washing.

Sometimes you can borrow tools thru a local community organization or library. I was able to do this for some landscaping tools to install some pea gravel in my side yard area at my old rental. :)
