Try out mod is a middle ground between save-scummers (which I am) and vanilla (high blind risk) and I kinda dig it. It also helps with situations when you have a full roster but with some brothers you are willing to change out (bad backgrounds/stars, slow/unlucky learners, perma injuries, etc.) to know how good potentially someone is (or can be) and plan accordingly.
On the other hand, if there are still players like me who don't mind save-scamming, then I suggest you to not waste time on this mod and instead do the old fashion way -- make a temp save when you enter a town > hire everyone you can (even sell all your gear to get enough money so you can hire everyone available in one go) > cycle through all of them one by one and see who you like the most > remember their name and background > load your temp save > hire or plan how to hire only those brothers you already picked out > delete the temp save. Note: if you don't have enough room in your roster before you start hiring > dismiss all your bros. Yes, it's a bit time consuming but you can benefit a lot from it. :)
I'd also like to add any of the pause mods as a great QoL mod. They're all on the Battle Brothers Nexus mods site, btw

Not sure which one save the most time.... apart from the battle log they simply speed up all the annoying things.
Im just a bit afraid of savegame issues after they patch again. We will see

Ive been lurking(clearly not well enough) for a mod that grants additional perks at higher levels. Get a perk at level 20 for example and then at level 30, without being OP. I think it would be a reasonable addition to the game. What do you think?
So the speed mod is still unpatched, and it's not just crossbows. It's thrown weapons too. Ended up just having to take it out completely on my system.

5:27 I'm sold.
I was reading about an issue with the Speed mod where the movements would speed up but the actual time would not resulting in rewards and such not scaling with the time. Have you seen this?
I've found an issue download some of those mods. While marching, an event occurs regarding those tree creatures I forgot their name. It says it's watching you. You have 2 choices. Kill it or ignore it. I clicked kill it and nothing at all happened. I thibl that I should enter combat in that case...or at least another event screen pop up
Filthy, I seen a BB game mod named Battel Brothers LEGENDS floating around. Seems to be a full game revamp. Any feedback on that one? Did you try/test it?

I have downloadet the Try Out and Location Mod but they arent activ ingame even on old or new campaigns and the Cart Ambition Mod set the WoN DLC inactiv. I downloadet all from the Nexus. Do u have any Idea how i can make it works

Can't seem to get the scoutable locations mod working with warriors of the north. Anyone know if that's for everyone?
Scoutable location doesn't actually work. You gotta download the one he's using called "mod_northern_nameditemchance_filthyscouting" from his link. It shows what % of named item and what type of unit
i puted you're mods all work exept the x3 and x4 speed mod, i have to click somewhere to make it work ?

The scouteble locations mod is not within the folder, is there a reason for this? being updated?
It is, it just has a long title and the "scouting" part is at the end

5 Months later but you don't need it anymore because you upgrade your cart from the retinue tab.

Depends on the location. A great way to know which provisions you will need is by looking up the curios section of the Darkest Dungeon's wikipedia. darkestdungeon.gamepedia.com/Curio

Is there any chance someone can please explain to me exactly how to do this like the computer illiterate moron that I am?
So I've got "filthyrobot bb mods" open. It's got the shared with me stuff in front of me. What exactly am I suppose to do from there? How do I go about getting the zip files so that I can "place the individual zip files?" My instinct is to want to right click over them and use the "download" option provided. But when I took the downloads and moved them to the folder they are suppose to go in they looked wrong and not like they did in the screenshot provided nor did it work. Am I suppose to be going with the, "open with" option or "make a copy" option instead? Or am I suppose to be doing something altogether different to get them on my computer?
Thank you in advance for any help given. I know this isn't nearly as hard as I'm making it.

Regarding, "How did they "look wrong"?" There is a picture that shows what it is suppose to look like in the place it's suppose to be after the fact. It didn't look like this to me. The icon in the picture provided did not look like the icons I had had. Mine looked more like folders and not like the pictures they were suppose to.
Regarding, "Why do you think it hasn't worked?" The game crashed when I tried to start it.
Regarding, "be sure you're putting them in the correct data folder" I'm confident I'm getting this part right. But I'm doing something wrong before then.
I'm going to try this again in a little bit. If nothing else I should be able to give a better idea of what I think I'm doing wrong and of what I'm doing to get there. I'll also make note of the exact names of the files as they look as that might offer some clues as to what I'm doing wrong.
One other thing that might be of note is that the computer I'm using is old and not great. It didn't have the recommended stuff for the game. When I first downloaded the game I had trouble getting it to originally work and had to do some troubleshooting to get it to run at all. When it does run it doesn't run as smoothly as it should or would if I just got a new computer but I was still able to get it going well enough for my purposes.
Again, thank you for your time. I wasn't optimistic that anyone would respond. I will get back to you later with an update for where I'm at and if there would be anything you might be able to do to help me at that point would again be greatly appreciated.
@transylvanian Ok. I'm doing it right now and writing this as I go.
Right clicking over the first one, choosing download. What should firefox do with this file? I'm choosing save file.
Now on the top of my webpage I can right click on that and get options like, "open containing folder," "go to download page," and "copy download link." I'm going with open containing folder.
It opens something that reads, "compressed folder tools" at the top. The name of the file or folder reads, "mod_cartambition(2)" There is also a "mod_cartambtion" and "mod_cartambition(1)" from previous failed efforts and/or me fiddling with this. It gives a date modified and then "compressed (zipped) folder" under "type."
The front of all this, and maybe I should have started here, is the icon that doesn't look exactly the same as the icon that is provided here...

Their icon is very colorful with red, green, and blue little boxes.
My icon looks like a folder with a little zipper running down the middle of it. So that's why I say it doesn't look right.
This is where I'm going to stop for the moment. Does this sound correct so far? Because I'm confident I do the rest correctly. I then take that file and move it where it needs to go. I then rinse and repeat the process for all the mod downloads.
The first time I tried this the game even gave me a message that read something like, "this is the first time you've added mods" or something. Then it crashed. Maybe it's just cause my computer sucks. The big sticking point to me and reason why I am thinking I've done something wrong is because that icon doesn't look like they say it should. Under their instructions it reads, "it should look like this." Well it doesn't look like that for me. I've very close. The names seem fine and start with "mod_" I've got that gfx folder and the data.dat stuff. Just the icon looks off and the game crashed.

@transylvanian I just moved them all and I'm going to try firing it up again. If that doesn't work I'll try your next suggestions. If that doesn't work I guess I'll just need to get a new computer. I've been thinking about it for a bit but for the most part even this piece of shit does what I've needed it to. That said I want to play some battle brothers and I really want to do it with the mods before I start a new campaign so I might do some computer shopping instead.

@transylvanian I'm not sure what is different this time but they are there and I was able to start the game without it crashing. Seems my computers job is safe for the time being. It's almost too bad. I was starting to look forward to replacing this relic. Again... thank you for your time and your help.

Off topic hey Filty I told you along time ago to try "Battle Brothers" and you said to me" The graphics turned me off I'll pass or something like that. Now look at you , you have the best vids IMO on battle brothers . Now ..........I have another suggestion . Play " Kenshi " you will love that game and its Sub freindly you can name subs to your crew makes for a long awesome play thou. Its an amazing game still playing it.

Mods modding mods all the way down
This is like cheating in my opinion. I like the try out mod but it seems to good, I think it should show 1 of the stars but not all 3.
Reddit is full of discussions about how 'fair' mods are. If you want to discuss, go there.
who gives a sh*t in a singleplayer game? These mods are simply saving your lifetime. Quite literally....
He didn't specify but the try out mod double the cost of try out too ( before dlc you could chose between 10%, 20%, and 50% of the recruit cost ).
well thats kinda the point of the mods.. btw this video isnt about whether or not utilizing these mods are actual cheat mods.. people can do both you know, play the game with and without depending on how they feel and why they are playing the game.
Only the Try Out mod and Cart Size mod from the list of mods that Filthy uses can qualify as "cheating" since they fundamentally affect the economic structure/difficulty of the game. Filthy (unfortunately) plays economic difficulty on easy so that isn't his point of focus. He has a decent justification though, namely for the sake of the stream and to be able to roll on a lot of brothers for those who donate, to cut the more "grindlike" elements out. I personally skip on Tryout and Cart Ambition mod since i don't want to fundamentally make the game easier (play on max difficulty and economic difficulty as well). The bulk of the mods though are awesome quality of life improvements such as: Combat Log (my version of the mod displays hidden resolve rolls as well), Scoutable Locations showing the named item chance, Settlement Tooltips (so that you don't have to check the wiki constantly or memorize every single modifier and their effect), Show Enemy Stats. I also use one that displays the exact effects of injuries (so that i don't constantly have to double check on the wiki, eventhough i have memorized nearly all of them by now). Again these mods don't change the game or make it easier, they just are more transparent with information to help one make informed decisions without having to constantly crunch numbers and check the wiki etc.
It is a really good game and none of these mods make it better. Just play the game.
