Thanks so much for sharing!! I am new to the pin collector community and have been trying to determine the best organization system. This is such a great and helpful video! Definitely adopting something similar for my growing collection!
I am SO glad you made this video! I needed this for a kick in the butt to get my pins more organized. I do wish I'd kept more of my backer cards, I mostly have just kept the special & low LE ones :) This is so well done -- something for me to aspire to this year for sure!
Omg thank you so much for making this! I've been asking for years how other people organize their pins and they always say pinpics or they keep them on the card in a binder, which I don't want to do. I love this idea and it makes kind of mad I didn't think about it earlier because I have literally hundreds of backers stuffed in my pin boom lol. And now I have no clue which they belong to. But I'm gonna start doing this, along with the value that I bought or traded for since some pins rise and I want to make sure I get and give fair trades! There are also some really lovely backer cards so it'd be nice to display them
I LOVE that you made this!! I've been working on filming my version as well, which is kind of similar to your system but also a bit different! 2019 seems to be the year to organize/downsize for a lot of people, so I'm sure they'll find this helpful!
Love this, Emily! I have been looking at ways to organize my once "new collection" that has now become my "quickly growing collection." You have some awesome strategies that will definitely work for me! Love it! 💖
Keeping the backer cards with detailed info is a great idea. Most of my pins were/are in pin bags and I used to get rid of the cards and use those to mail pins out on in trades or sales. Id like to try your system now starting immediately. Thank you.
I have a sheet for BoxLunch (white loungfly backer) and a sheet for Hot Topic (black loungefly backer). Though sometimes the pins they sell aren't loungefly, so they end up in a pencil pouch with fantasy pin backers, and zip locks of those rubber Mickey backs.
This really is a great video and GREAT system. I was getting rid of regular black backer cards, but kept most of the special ones (though not all, I'm sure), and they're just sitting in bags! Thanks for the organizational tips!!
Emily, thank you for sharing this....such a simple idea, why did I not think of it..going forward that’s how I’m storing my backer cards too xx happy new year to you xx
Oh my gosh, I am LOVING this binder storage system so much! A 2019 goal of mine is to organize my pins, and I love keeping the backer cards when I want to display them on my bulletin boards. This binder system is amazing and awesome; thank you SO MUCH for sharing this. I also keep a few pins on the backer cards when displayed on my bulletin board. I think that is a 4" binder with the baseball inserts?
14:20 the pins on backer cards, do the cards protect the plastic from the pin back? I've gotten a number of different kinds of pins into my collection and I've been looking at ideas of storing them on backing cards that'd allow me to write information on them (country of origin, theme, year of make, etc.). I've tried a few ideas on coat pins and they turn out rather bulky, since I want to have mylar on the exposed part of the pin. My collecting is an offshoot of collecting coins, so I plan on using coin flips as materials, but I've been looking at 350gsm cardboard for the backing cards, and instead of 9x9 baseball card pages, I've looked at cutting the cardboard so that the pins would be on cards that'd fit in the pockets of a Lindner Rebeck 4x4 page.
Hi Emily! I also write the PinPics # on a Post-It stuck onto the backer card. I file the card (and original plastic packaging if I have it) by # in an index card box. I have an Excel to look up which # to pull if I can't tell which card by sight. Oversized cards go into a larger coupon organizer case or the back pocket of zippered binders, which is where most of my pins live. Unfortunately, I live in a very dusty place, so only a few of my pins are displayed in shadow boxes. Thanks for sharing your method!
Hi Emily. I love seeing how other organized people like me 😂😜 do things 😀😀. This was really interesting and I like how you have your pins on PinPic. I never thought to do that because sometimes I find it difficult to search for a pin by a description. Great advice. 😀😀
Thanks for sharing Emily! While I bought a few pins here and there from around 2002 through 2017, I started paying closer attention to pins towards the middle of 2018. This is great to help me figure out what I want to do to get organized while I still have a manageable collection. 😊
This is a great idea. I have all of my backer cards in my desk drawer but as my collection grows, I'm running out of space and the post-its keep popping off
Hey, I’m thinking about using this system. I keep all of my backer cards in a bag with no organization. To connect them back to my corresponding pin, do I just look up the SKU number?
Yes, and no. I did the very same. Problem is, my older pins never had a SKU number entered into pinpics, or anywhere. So I don't know what pin they belong to. Occasionally, I may find one or two on eBay, and note the SKU if they took a pic of the back,
Such great ideas! I just started trading so I had no idea what to do with the backer cards haha. Also, I spied HK Emoji Sully in your traders, if you want to trade him for Beast or Elsa from the same set, let me know. Lol.
I think it’s great your able to post videos and not go to the parks frequently. I became a season pass holder for one year and really trying to take advantage. I like keeping back cards I think they are nice to have w a trade or sale. I still have done any trading or selling.
I've not been collecting for long but I've noticed that disney has picked up on people keeping backer cards and the faking of the cards, and are putting the pin's FAC on the cards too.
Hi! Thank you so much for sharing this! I have been thinking of better ways to organize my pins and backer cards and I just love your system! So helpful :) Also, I’m a huge wall-e fan, and couldn’t help notice the poster behind you with the full moon, love, and wall e and eve on it so. So beautiful! Would you mind me asking where you got it? Thanks so much :)
Unfortunately grouping by own/want/trade is the only thing PinPics allows. That's why I have my additional physical system so I can groups pins by origin.
I've found a different website that lists history (original price and release date) along with a description. Does Pin Pics do all that as well? Just curious what made you choose to input all your info on that site over others. However I LOVE this video and am now inspired to go buy some baseball card holders and do the same! I have kept all my old backer cards and boxes but they are in one large bag in my closet (plus I started at one point to enter all my pins into an Excel sheet and then stopped due to laziness/forgetting, but I have been meaning to try a new system so I loved seeing how you organize it and cut out the boxes, so smart! P.S. Your handwriting is so neat!
@@christaevans1127 I use PinPics too but I kinda prefer one other site over it which is pintradingdb.com They usually have more details in the description section or info about the release etc. so I find it interesting to compare the two. Plus sometimes the info on PinPics can be wrong i.e. LE size differs from what the actual pin says or release date etc. For instance one of my pins I bought in December but PinPics says it was released in Nov 2018 and I knew that was wrong. Sometimes I find a pin on one site and not the other too so I check both and am generally just curious why PinPics is the industry standard.
@@PlayDatesandTravels I usually find PinPics lacking as well, but I wasn't sure if I just wasn't using it correctly. I have trouble searching for pins when I don't know the name. For example, when I traded for a pin in the parks, if I want to look it up later, it can be hard to find on PinPics without the correct name. I haven't made an account yet; do you get access to more information if you have an account? Thanks for the alternative site. I'll have to check it out and compare as well.

That catalog is impressive level of organization

I absolutely love this video! I don't collect pins but it motivates me to organize other disney collections i have 😘
I've been obsessed with your videos! I just ordered my first pins with your recommendation of ebay sellers and I'm so excited to start pin collecting!
This is super amazing. I am just now starting with pin trading, so this was super helpful.

This is EXACTLY what I was looking for! Thank you for this video!
Excellent system...! Thank you for sharing...!
I really like your system😊 it gave me a few ideas on how to improve my own
Organization makes me so happy. I never thought to use baseball trader pouches, but it's brilliant. I'm adopting this idea.
This is so perfect, lots of great ideas to organize my own collection :)
Thank you for sharing! I'm definitely going to try and get more pin organized!
Love your system for Backer Cards!
This really is a great video and GREAT system. I was getting rid of regular black backer cards, but kept most of the special ones (though not all, I'm sure), and they're just sitting in bags! Thanks for the organizational tips!!

I do the same thing with my mystery pins. If they have an LE chaser, I cut up the box and use it as a backer card
I swear I've seen u before! (at disney) Thats crazyyyyyy!

Hi Emily, I'm back to watch your videos.
Gosh, I wish I had thought of this.... great idea
What are the size of the small posted notes? Any chance where you got them and sku number?
Have you been to all the parks in the world?
Dont mystery puns have all the same sku? Any tricks to avoid duplicates?

It's definitely my dream to one day become an AP! But for now I'm happy enough with my pins at home, lol
I never thought I would be one but it made sense all the trips I planned to go. Can’t wait till you announce you have become one!

You are inspiring me to organise my pins!! What do you do if you didnt keep the backer cards??
If you no longer have backer cards, that's not a huge problem. It just makes it a little harder to tie the origin of the pin

My boyfriend got it for me for Christmas! I'm not exactly sure from where, but it's a metal art print
I started using pinpics but is there a way to group them other than want and trade? I would like to group my collection.
Unfortunately grouping by own/want/trade is the only thing PinPics allows. That's why I have my additional physical system so I can groups pins by origin.
Do you have to trade Pins if you have the pin pics or can you just have it to know which Pins you have?
