Would love a how to RUclips channel! I've always used a planner (home biz & single mom of 4 w/ADHD--I need a plan), but when I was looking for a new planner and decided to watch reviews on RUclips a couple years ago, I kinda got sucked into happy planning. I do love the creative outlet, but really just want something pretty to plan in. Still figuring it out, but in the meantime am starting a RUclips channel. I love how you explain things so I think it would be really helpful.
I recently realized that I'm doing best with the Happy Planner daily style but using it for my week instead of just a single day. I just decorated 2 pages of it with stickers and feel totally overwhelmed. I had decorated 2 other pages with a single sticker and some washi strips it was perfect, just the bit of a pop of color I needed without feeling overwhelmed. So I think I might try getting a few rolls of washi for some super simple color pops without having to spend an hour flipping through sticker books trying to get just the right decorative layout. I personally need the discbound system so I can move pages around and have a page on the top of my planner so I can easily see it without even opening the cover. We all have to find what works best for us.
YES!! a little bit of decorating but still keeping it minimal feels way better sometimes than full blown decorating! I get that completely! I'm glad you're figuring out what works for you :)
I would love to see beginner RUclips tips videos. I remember going through college at like 28 and using a planner with NO stickers. It had no choice but to be functional. Now I enjoy decorating but I procrastinate doing it till the last minute… what does that say about the situation. I don’t feel like I’ve had planner peace in a longggg time since 2020 really when I found the happy planner. You do you girl and I’ll be following both of your channels!❤
I feel that so much!! Planner peace seems like a thing of the past unfortunately. But I think we can get it back! slowly but surely! Thank you so much for the follow and for being here!!
watching this today and feeling the same way. I am over my decorative planning stage for now. i need to focus on productivty and self care! Thx for your video!!
I too have come to the point where I want to get away from the decorating part of planning. You have helped me realize it is just fine to not decorate! I have brand new planners for this year, but I am going to stop once I get through June because I have a lot of the "planned" days all done through the end of the kids school year. I feel good about this decision. I am in the process of my own design of what will work for me. I do need to be able to add in inserts, so I will continue to use discs. Thanks for sharing, I needed this reassurance! Oh...I love your memory book you made, I love paper crafts and go find your other channel. :) ♥
I use my Happy Planner classic dashboard as a memory book and not planning. I have a very straightforward planner for day-to-day life, and a notebook for my checklists at work. I like that I can look back at my HP in an organized way for memories and for me, it's not as overwhelming as a scrap book, and I still have a small creative outlet. It used to try and do the decorative planning for actual planning, but over time found that the two just didn't work for me, as I felt like I put all this work into stickering everything beautifully and if something changed during the week, it was hard to just cross it off because it messed up the way everything looked! lol. Or I didn't get to the things I'd thought to do and it made me feel guilty. Anyway. Thanks for reading this and also sharing your thoughts you shared in this video. Enjoy!
Thanks for this, glad you have dumped the happy planner for a bit. I live in the Uk and happy planner is very expensive to invest in, besides that the homes are smaller and having space for the sticker books is impossible for storage. I have subscribed to both channels, scrapebooking a great idea. Useful to maybe help both channels. Would like to see more of the binders, I have mostly A5 binders of various brands. The use of different types of paper, for example cheap paper, watercolour paper and anything that can be for specified projects. I mix my paper as watercolour paper is expensive and much thicker. Like I say thanks for the video, change usually happens as we grow out of something. Creatively it could go into other ideas, something new and different.
Is it easier for you to get the A5 sizes in the Uk? I've never thought of that.... "change usually happens when we grow out of something" and you're absolutely right!! And thank you for being here!!
I actually got rid of my happy planner supplies like 1 hour ago ! It was overwhelming me ! Siri reminds me everything I need, Notion has all the data I need (and Siri adds to Notion through a shortcut) and a leuchturm 1917 for when I need to write something on paper and I feel so much more productive !
I am a functional decorative planner - minimal decor (especially in comparison to most HPs) but I like a little decor some sticker or washi and I love a little color and personalization on my pages. It brings me joy. But the full sticker pages don’t work for me in my EDC because it overwhelms me and because it takes functional space that I need. I am more decorative in my memory journal/planner but that’s for joy and not for planning. You can do minimal planing on the same channel as scrapbooking and as your YT tutorials. It all goes hand in hand and a lot of folks want to see all that and it also brings new people in as well.
Very true!! I think I will do a little of the minimal planning content but it feels so free not to stress about it or to think I'm not showing enough. I'm relieved to share this video lol Thanks for being here love! I appreciate you more than you know!
Yes! Girl, yes! I have been having this same struggle as well! And, I've felt so guilty. And yet, lost. I love the creativity of paper crafting but don't know how to settle more into functional planning, what that looks like, and what to do with my desire to be creative and how to do it! I fee.the shift in the community as well. Let's take this ride together?!?
Hi Ashley, I totally understand, I went from the HP to my Hobonichi, I still decorate it but it’s more functional. I now use my HP for memory keeping and as a journal. The videos about youtube will actually be pretty helpful and I’d love to see vlogs too 😀
Honestly, I understand. I am genuinely a planner. However, due to certain things in my life, using the vertical planner is a bit much for me. I think I am burned out with that. It is okay to go to something that is befitting for you. It's incredible how you showed your vulnerability and were honest about where you are with planning what you needed to help transition your thought pattern to a more comfortable and productive format. It has been challenging to realize I am burned out and need more of a checklist, which has even taken some weight off my shoulders. Sometimes we are too hard on ourselves when it comes to planning. Sometimes we have to switch it up if it is not right and help us to get to a better route. I applaud you for standing up and going in the direction you need. Thank you so much. It helped me understand that I am not the only one. So this has given me a better route to take a deep breath and look a different way ( Using a checklist instead and not focusing so much on the stickers if I can't handle that right now). As you said, it may come back in time; if not, it was an experience that we learned and grew from, right? Thanks again, and I hope this is working out better for you.
I feel that- the weight being lifted off your shoulders! 🙌🏼 it feels so much better! I’m glad I could help you and I hope you feel less stressed about planning and can get into a system that works for you- stickers or not! ♥️♥️
I really feel like you could do both on this channel. This isnt Ashley Anderson plans, or anything else. It’s you. You’re bringing us on the journey of who you are. If changing from planning is your path, bring us with you! I feel like I’ve known from the beginning that you are about crafting and planning. I’ve been here waiting for the crafting videos because you’ve talked about it here on this channel so much. I also think you’ve worked SO HARD to grow this channel and there’s no reason you have to start a new one. Planning and crafting are so closely related, and again..I feel like you’ve made it clear that you were about crafting for a while on this channel…that it seems fine to just transition this channel to crafting and even those ideas you had about starting a RUclips channel and how to’s. Just my 2 cents. I feel the same for your IG as well. Ashley Anderson creates explains who you are perfectly and it doesn’t just say planning. We want to see all the crafty stuff you do. Planning may have got a majority of us here..but your creative and sweet spirit have kept us. I’m excited to see all this unfold and I’ll follow whatever accounts you open (maybe not the feet fans pics though 😂)
Hi, I just found your channel and you really helped me to decide on trying the dashboard planner instead of the vertical. You were really helpful to me. I would hate to see that you no longer share all of your planner knowledge. Best of luck to you.
You have to do you! And enjoy that, find your joy. We will be right there, cheering you on and learning new things. You are a natural teacher and have such a clear way of explaining things. I love your clean, uncluttered style and can't wait to follow along on your memory keeping! I think lots of people will watch your tutorials on how to start a YT channel, that's a great idea! Thanks for sharing and updating, can't wait to see where your adventures take you! 🫶
I completely understand. I switched my EDC planner to a pocket planner so that I was planning more than decorating. It's been working so much better. I still use my happy planner for journaling, but the functional planning is so much easier. I would love to see your series on equipment and starting a RUclips channel. Thanks for the update.
I started with HP and now am using a cloth&paper spiral planner and loving it. I have their contoured agenda cover and it makes me so happy when I plan now. Using Heather Kell's planner to memory keep so will subscribe to your new channel!
That’s great!! Cloth & Paper has the cutest, but simplest planners and it’s fantastic! 😍 Thanks for following my other channel! I’m beyond thankful for you for being here and there! ♥️
Hello! I loved the way that you told us, and changed up your planning style. I would like to see how you start a RUclips channel &&&& how you plan in that new planner setup as well. Can you do both? I want to change my planner because happy planner isn't working for me either
I would actually love to show the new planner and kind of make that my “last” planning video (other than if I go the teaching RUclips route because that requires some planning lol) I’m new to Cloth & Paper but so far, I’m loving the simplicity of their planners so maybe check them out and see if you like them! ♥️
@@AshleyAnderson such a great idea and making it your last planning video is super awesome. I would love to see what your doing in the new planner, and what your planning in it, and how your planning in it, and how your planning process goes with goals and more before you leave. Going to miss your planning videos. God bless Ashley
I use the Erin concern daily duo, straight to the point and always keeps me on track. I use my happy planner for a fitness planner and it seems to work so much better for me, ive been working out for a good month and a half and been keeping up with it since the new year.
I feel like a lot of us here are a lot like you, things you are interested in a lot of us are too. We just all click together. We are here for whatever you are doing. I love your planning videos, like the nitty gritty ones. Never was really into the decorative, dont get me wrong I bought all the stickers lol But seriously, the how-tos, the behind the scenes, the tools, the systems. Show us your ways! We are here for you!
This might just be my favorite comment EVER!! No joke! Sometimes I question if people want to see all the things that I'm doing (the systems, etc.) and it's the reminders like this one, that keep me going! Seriously appreciate you Regina!!
I use HP classic size and can't wrap my mind around decorating and doing spreads. The few times I have decorated, I get bored of my weekly after one day. I also dread writing and "messing it up." Such a waste! I have a small business and need every bit of the writing space. I love the non-decorating side of planning. Glad you've joined!
I’d love to see a “How to start a RUclips channel video” I’m not new to having my own channel but due to illness I had to take a break nearly 2 years ago, so I feel like a newbie getting ready to return! xxx💕
Ashley - This video is two months old at the time of my viewing. Girl...you're asking us what types of videos WE are interested in seeing. YOU need to do what YOU want to do and love. Otherwise...I would be afraid that you might experience burnout...like with The Happy Planner. I will say this - you are very articulate and genuine. These are qualities that I personally appreciate. BTW - the pics of who I assume is your son...ARE SO ADORABLE!!!
I would LOVE this! I have a channel that I started a while ago but I feel like I've hit a roadblock. There's not much foot action right now so this would be really helpful!
I'm brand new here, but I would love to see some behind-the-scenes of another planner channel. My setup for planner videos is basically gerry-rigged out of whatever I had laying around, so I'd love to see what "the pros" use. I also agree with a number of other commenters: the channel is literally *your name*; there's no planner-specific terms attached, so really you could easily do whatever you wanted (though I know the algorithm might say differently). Crafting and planners are closely related (especially when you think about how MAMBI started in scrapbooking) so I think the audience overlap is very big, so making a change to crafting and additional "how to build your YT planner/crafting channel" content I think makes a lot of sense.
Thanks for the advice love!! I appreciate it! I have a gerry-rigged setup for the longessttt time so I know what you're going through! If you look at my videos, I have the equipment I use linked at the bottom of each one-maybe that will help you upgrade your setup just a bit! I don't use anything fancy though (well, for right now...considering a change in things lol) Thanks for being here and for commenting!
I couldn't stand happy planner set ups and I could never wrap my head around all the stickers in the planner. I would be distracted. I use an A5 disc bound planner with inserts I made for myself. I do sometimes add washi, because I used 24# paper and it has a tendency to pull off the discs when I am flipping pages.
Hello Ashley just saw your video and sadly I am new to deco planning and that how I came across your video saying you were done, I am sad to see you go but definitely would love all the info on how to start a RUclips channel, Vlog, so yes please do that and help me be as great as you
@@AshleyAnderson will you be doing the how to start your own youtube channel becuase I would like to learn and hopefully create one by the the new year
Would love to see a series on how to grow a RUclips channel, I recently started one and it’s very slow going. Tips and tricks for lighting/editing would be great. I use iMovie. I’m curious what you use. I’m looking to get a new laptop and if I continue with iMovie then I’d get an Apple. My tech son is trying to talk me out of an Apple and into another brand. But then I couldn’t use iMovie. 🤷🏼♀️ Question, why don’t you make this channel an all in one? You already have the following and are monetized. Why start over on new channel? Just put different videos into different playlists. People will click on playlists that interest them. Just a thought. Seeing how you have the followers and watch hours on here already.
I also use iMovie! I’ve tried several different editing software’s and always go back to iMovie because of the simplicity. It’s easy to use and gets the job done and it’s free! Lol can’t beat it!! So I thought about combining the two and doing the playlists but I just kept feeling like I needed to separate the two 🤷🏻♀️ Maybe it’s the universe telling me that something completely different is coming to this channel and I need them to be separate or maybe I’m just overthinking it lol no clue! Thanks for being here though and commenting!! ♥️♥️
hey darlin', just wanted to let you know that I just found your channel lol, so I have been looking back over your older videos and they are nice, I like them, but I am not a decorative planner babe, I am a create a list of what I have done or will need to do babe ;) my point for writing is do what makes you happy, if there is a video I want to watch, I will, or I will fast forward thru or skip the videos that aren't up my alley, but you will be on my subscribe list. I do like the way you do your videos, so keep them coming girlfriend :D
@@AshleyAnderson the Techo is A6 size and has monthlies and dailies (weekly can be added with a supplement insert but it’s an extra cost and smaller than A6); weeks is about 3.5x7.3 (kind of personal size) and has just monthlies and weeklies and then blank pages in the back; the Cousin is A5 and is monthlies, weeklies and dailies.
I have felt very similar as I plan to transition from HP. I'm no longer a decorative planner, since I AM a decorative journaler and I save my creative energy for that). But even trying to functionally plan in an HP is hard because it still feels like too much space at this point. I just need to get info down on paper and get it done. (Also, lol at feet pics)
Hi Ashley! I completely understand where you are coming from about the decorative planner. I started using my stickers in my bible studies. I too just need to keep my planning simple. What planner cover did you purchase? Did you purchase the daily sheets separately? Thank you for sharing. I am definitely going to check out your new channel.
I fell that so much! simple is calling my name! lol The cover I purchased is called "6 ring agenda | A5 | Contoured Leather" For the planning pages, I got two different ones... 2023 DATED PLANNER INSERTS | VERTICAL WEEKLY LINED 2023 DATED PLANNER INSERTS | DAILY | 2 DAYS PER PAGE I just copied those titles directly from Cloth & Paper's website so I hope that helps!
Moved away from HP and "all those sticker books" over a year ago. Now using a Hobonichi Cousin and Weeks. Still decorating but very minimal. Not interested in starting a You Tube channel but the process might be interesting.
Hi Miss Ashley. I have been a subscriber for a few years, mostly quiet. Fellow nursing professional for the past almost 40 years, especially with what we have been going through, being the quiet supporter was all I could do. But life is always changing, there are ebbs and flows. Now we are having to figure out a new norm that in no way resembles pre Covid world/ life shut down. A lot oh planner systems are changing because out old happy planner sicker happy place doesn’t fit the world we are living in today. It’s a relief to hear people speak up about changes and what is and is not working. I don’t think the hobanichi life is for me even though it’s the biggest trend at the moment. And bujo for my everyday planners…. I know I would not stay with because I need the structure, add brain. As far as what to do with this channel, I would like to see you post what makes you happy. When you showed that scrapbook and the energy shifted to being so proud and so full of joy. It would be amazing to see how your YT journey started and how to start my own. You love helping and teaching people. Your amazing at it. But what else I would love to see is you doing the content that you love doing. Yes I totally get the business side, and needing to work with it. But right now your channel is at a crossroad of what to do. It’s tough and scary as change tends to be. But their are enough channels out there that do the “you to YT “ because it’s a money making subject. Sure the gains are awesome for a while but you box your self in, and then year after year those channels burn out, or struggle trying to post the same videos presented in a totally different way that people won’t catch on that it’s the same stuff just a different video. How about while listening to the viewers post on what your interested in. Maybe some will go but others will come because as life changes we change. Views will flock to the creators that a genuinely loving the content the put out, those or the channels that are going to make it. I know you will make this channel an amazing place.
True! I've thought about that but I've decided to keep them separate for a few reasons but it's actually super fun to watch the new channel grow!! :) Thanks for being here!!!
Here's the one I used for this video: amzn.to/3KhePfh It's wireless and I use an adapter to connect it to my phone but I believe it can also connect to a camera. I've also used the "lav mics" that you can find on Amazon. The mic I use for voiceovers is this one: amzn.to/3lRXdg8 Hope that helps!
i think this is a nice idea, but then you will get only a smaller amount of viewers, If this is ok for you, fine. I will not open a yt channel now, but maybe one day?
I'm just looking at your second video after your Daily Grace Co haul. I thought that that was your channel; doing Bible studies and reviews. I didn't even know your channel was just for planners. So a little bit confusing when you go from one topic but your channel is a planning channel and not a Bible review channel. If that makes sense....
A 'How To Start A RUclips Channel' series would be awesome! Perfect timing actually :)
Thanks for letting me know!! :)
I decorative journal. I dont plan. In my journal I set up budgets, plan vacations, and write whatever. No rules.

Thanks for following my other channel!
I would actually love to show the new planner and kind of make that my “last” planning video (other than if I go the teaching RUclips route because that requires some planning lol)
I’m new to Cloth & Paper but so far, I’m loving the simplicity of their planners so maybe check them out and see if you like them!
That’s amazing!! You go girl!! 🥳🥳
I'm ve planned for years but never ever did decorative planning. I'd rather spend the time decorating my house. That's just me. ❤
Yes!!
I have no desire to start a youtube channel but would love to see the process. It looks interesting... ;-)
Thanks for letting me know Susan! :)
I’m so glad that works for you and I’m definitely glad to be apart of the group! It’s freeing! 🙌🏼🙌🏼
I’m totally here for it! I love your content and I’m interested in starting my own RUclips so I appreciate any and every tip sis. ☺️
Yay!!! That’s exciting and congrats to you for wanting to start one!! If I go in that direction, I hope I’m able to help you in many ways! ♥️
I’d love to see a “How to start a RUclips channel video” I’m not new to having my own channel but due to illness I had to take a break nearly 2 years ago, so I feel like a newbie getting ready to return! xxx💕
Thanks for letting me know!! I hope you're doing better and are able to get back into it!
Thanks for letting me know!! :) And thanks for being here for this transition!
I don't use anything fancy though (well, for right now...considering a change in things lol)
Thanks for being here and for commenting!
Sounds great…I’ve been dragging my feet on starting a channel so it would be perfect
Thanks for letting me know Brandi!
Hello Ashley just saw your video and sadly I am new to deco planning and that how I came across your video saying you were done, I am sad to see you go but definitely would love all the info on how to start a RUclips channel, Vlog, so yes please do that and help me be as great as you
♥️♥️ I hope you have a blast decorating your planner!! I loved it for years but needed a change!
Question, why don’t you make this channel an all in one?
I ditched my HP planners and went to a hobonichi techo and minimal stickers.
It’s so much better for my life at this point.
What's the difference between Hobonichi techo and Hobonichi cousin? I hear people talking about both but I feel lost lol
Would love to see a how to series!
Thanks Jan for letting me know! :)
I would love to see on how to start a RUclips channel because I’ve been wanting to start a channel but don’t know where to begin please help thanks.
Yesss!! I’m the same way at this point! Quickly get things down and move on!
Alll the feet pics 🤣🤣
I followed for the planning, but will stick around a bit to see the new direction
Thank you for that! ♥️♥️
Hi Ashley! I completely understand where you are coming from about the decorative planner. I started using my stickers in my bible studies. I too just need to keep my planning simple. What planner cover did you purchase? Did you purchase the daily sheets separately? Thank you for sharing. I am definitely going to check out your new channel.
I fell that so much! simple is calling my name! lol
The cover I purchased is called "6 ring agenda | A5 | Contoured Leather"
For the planning pages, I got two different ones...
2023 DATED PLANNER INSERTS | VERTICAL WEEKLY LINED
2023 DATED PLANNER INSERTS | DAILY | 2 DAYS PER PAGE
I just copied those titles directly from Cloth & Paper's website so I hope that helps!
Moved away from HP and "all those sticker books" over a year ago. Now using a Hobonichi Cousin and Weeks. Still decorating but very minimal. Not interested in starting a You Tube channel but the process might be interesting.
I've heard a lot of great things about Hobonichi Cousin but I've not dived into it. Maybe I'll check it out-seems like a lot of people are doing it!
Jessica!! You're amazing and I'm incredibly thankful for you words!!
I’m all for crafting! Think if you label/title the videos properly, people can pick and choose what to watch without having to make another channel.
True! I've thought about that but I've decided to keep them separate for a few reasons but it's actually super fun to watch the new channel grow!! :) Thanks for being here!!!
I’ll watch anything you post!!! I just love your content and you (hope that didn’t come off creepy) 😂
Not creepy at all! I appreciate your support and for being here regardless of what this transition brings!
What microphone do you use? I feel like I need that
Here's the one I used for this video: amzn.to/3KhePfh
It's wireless and I use an adapter to connect it to my phone but I believe it can also connect to a camera. I've also used the "lav mics" that you can find on Amazon.
The mic I use for voiceovers is this one: amzn.to/3lRXdg8
Hope that helps!
@@AshleyAnderson thank you!
I use my phone for recording all my videos and I’ve been feeling like I need a mic
🫶🏾👏🏽 relatable
I would love to learn how to make a untube channel
:) :)
i think this is a nice idea, but then you will get only a smaller amount of viewers, If this is ok for you, fine. I will not open a yt channel now, but maybe one day?
True! It might be too small of a niche to dive into. Thanks Lara!
