to me the interview being on drake's channel says a few things. it completely shows that Drake has more power as an artist than one of the biggest distributors of his music. the fact he can control and own whatever content he puts out and is in that kind of position of power to do so makes me think that in the coming years he might try to start a new wave of music/content distribution and provide a blueprint for the future for more artists to take complete control and ownership of their music/content to reap the benefits of their hard work.
Although all that may become true, artists should have the ultimate say in there art. However, an interview coming out on his how channel just goes to highlight Drake's insecurities since he does need "ownership" over the content thereby bringing the integrity of the interview itself into question.
@@samstone7768 i think continuing to talk about a grown man's insecurities misses the point completely. drake is a business man at the end of the day, and if he can leverage the strength of his brand/image to "own" that content, why would he not do so? that's 5 figures+ of ad revenue the interview has made for him and his team that would've gone to tidal if it was on theres. obviously that isn't much in the grand scheme of things for someone like him, but i'm sure splitting that between a small team of his is way more impactful for say his directors/producers/etc than to split that among hundreds/thousands of employees at tidal. since his name carries so much weight and draws so much attention and viewership, it's just in his best interest monetarily to put it on his channel, i really don't think "owning the conversation" has anything to do with the move. the viewers can look through the bs in the conversation regardless and make opinions themselves and he is smart enough to understand that as well.
When Mal said after an interview with Beyonce he's turning over all his footage.. I understood why Joe was ready to go his separate ways 😂 cause what are you doing the interview for?
Thank you, my thoughts exactly. I hate when Joe jumps off deep ends with his “crazy” or “hot” takes which a lot of times are just poorly disguised hate and envy. Joe, Rory, and a lot of people who simply don’t like Drake live to kill him for every breath he takes.
Lemme say this real quick for folks who think Drake didn't take an L in the battle with Pusha. Ask yourselves this question: Why didn't Drake just ignore Pusha like he ignored Joe Budden? What did Drake think he was going to gain by beating Pusha in a battle? Drake already had all of the sales and hit singles, and beating Pusha wasn't going to make him sell more and chart better as he was already at the top. So, what was Drake going to get for beating Pusha in a battle? He was going to get respect from people doubting his pen after Meek exposed the reference tracks. That was the point. Beating Pusha was supposed to shut everybody up on that front, because Drake responded with Duppy so quickly nobody was going to say that he had a team writing for him. But things didn't go the way Drake planned, in fact, the internet itself turned against Drake for a brief period. Despite Pusha daring him to respond at the end of Story of Adidon, Drake never does. He addresses the Blackface pic on IG, he has J Prince speaking for him and telling people he called off the beef, he's doing interviews, he's subbing Kanye, but he is *NOT* releasing another track to Pusha. That's an L, ladies and gentleman. Because the battle went the way it did, Drake didn't get the respect from his detractors that he wanted. This had nothing to do with sales on Drake's end, as he already had all of that, and he would have been in an even better position if he ignored Pusha like he did Joe Budden. Then he isn't embarrassed by the Black face pic, he can introduce his son to the world like he wanted, he doesn't lose the Adidas deal, he's still cool with Kanye, and he doesn't have an "L" on his resume from a rap battle.
joes point relates exactly to when eminem sat down with sway. it seemed put together. even tho drakes interview might have not looked like that, the fact the it was all captured and edited by his team gives him total control over all aspects of the interview.
They dragged the point of the interview being on Drake's RUclips channel This could've easily been finished with "Drake being in control of the production of his interview means he can take out certain content"
Joe is right...in a interview setting you do not let the interviewee ' produce' the interview...it does not make any sense. The power in that dynamic is skewed...
Mal annoying here Joe's saying why is it posted on his channel PR style? This isn't an interview, that was a 2hr autobiography. Not 1 person called drake out on any specific points.
Mal loves Drake so much it's wired, won't admit pusha t crushed Drake, won't here what Joe is saying about the interview, just loves everything Drake does, wierd
Drake is a dope artist but he's not an innovator, he doesn't start trends or sounds, he adapts well to other people's sounds i.e Kanye (808s), Weeknd, Migos, Future, Afrobeats, dancehall, UK Drill etc.
M 360 __ Andrew Campbell Both of guys are highlighting very, very salient points. Drake is a notable creator. However he does siphon up & coming trends, that may take longer going mainstream. That doesn't diminish the fact he resurrected the rap/singing style. And I choose that word deliberately instead of "revolutionized", because it was a style that's always been here. Drake brought it to the mainstream masses, in a roundabout way towards Hip Hop, because emceeing was always first and foremost.
Andrew Campbell Relax yourself. 40 and Drake built their signature sound that they ran with last decade from 808 and heartbreaks. I’ve been listening to Drake since Comeback Season. 40 said back in 2011 they heard that album and ran with the sound. “Drake reopened the song rap concept” Nope T- Pain, Wayne and Kanye did that, Drake just ran with it last decade. As I said he never started that. Lauryn Hill is the blueprint for singing and rapping on a track at a high level and also doing it throughout an album. Drake never started that. “Every artist you named only blew up when Drake attached his name” I know you aren’t including Kanye who birthed his sound in that statement. But for the others, again he didn’t start those sounds he adapted very well to the sounds that those guys introduced. Why don’t you understand what I’m saying ? Stop being emotional and actually take in what I’m saying. “Emphasised releasing free music to promote an album” So 50 Cent didn’t do that leading up to his Get Rich or Die Trying album ? So Wayne never did that in the mid 2000s ?
That interview was too boring for me to make it through it all. Maybe I just don’t find Drake & his storyline that interesting. I definitely don’t believe his baby mama situation & he’s in denial about a few things. It’s not for me.
Breathe721 It was his attempt at controlling the narrative after being booed at Flog Gnaw and sonned in front of the world. It was basically damage control
Joe saying it was the best, worst interview is funny.. I thought his Nicki interview was exactly that... Hot take: Joe actually doesnt do good interviews
Everybody is weirdly in their feelings in this interview but Joe is completely correct. The Drake interview was great from a fan perspective, but if the subject of the interview has complete control over the production/editing, etc., you have to take the information with a grain of salt for sure. You certainly can't call it journalism if the subject of the report controlled the information.
Dude THANKS TREY. Address IS THERE MORE FROM SCORPIO, not being on YMCMB, “as soon as this album drop I’m outta of the deal, back at the crib playing DeAngelo how does it feel?” What other deal? Bc THAT WAS THE LAST PIECE OF WORK ATTACHED TO YMBMC. So obvious. And you want to know the real??? Bc if you do: RESEARCH THE WALT DISNEY ANGLE. to me the interview being on drake's channel says a few things. it completely shows that Drake has more power as an artist than one of the biggest distributors of his music. the fact he can control and own whatever content he puts out and is in that kind of position of power to do so makes me think that in the coming years he might try to start a new wave of music/content distribution and provide a blueprint for the future for more artists to take complete control and ownership of their music/content to reap the benefits of their hard work.
You called it
When Mal said after an interview with Beyonce he's turning over all his footage.. I understood why Joe was ready to go his separate ways 😂 cause what are you doing the interview for?
Mal was tight lmao
Usually people who are wrong making dumb ass points are
"They killed everything he said on The Shop."
You mean YOU killed everything he said by having Pusha T in for an interview a few days later.
if that's what helps you sleep at night
Thank you, my thoughts exactly. I hate when Joe jumps off deep ends with his “crazy” or “hot” takes which a lot of times are just poorly disguised hate and envy. Joe, Rory, and a lot of people who simply don’t like Drake live to kill him for every breath he takes.
Emmanuel Chirume You can’t read people of you think Joe hates Drake. He’s literally a stan in disguise.
As street as Mal comes off from time to time, he takes pride in “caping” for Drake.
Are Mal’s nails painted red/green?? Lol, homie spent waayyy too much time in LA.
ElectricB hell yea and infrared vs duppy was damn near neck to neck
joes point relates exactly to when eminem sat down with sway. it seemed put together. even tho drakes interview might have not looked like that, the fact the it was all captured and edited by his team gives him total control over all aspects of the interview.
They dragged the point of the interview being on Drake's RUclips channel
This could've easily been finished with "Drake being in control of the production of his interview means he can take out certain content"
Joe is right...in a interview setting you do not let the interviewee ' produce' the interview...it does not make any sense. The power in that dynamic is skewed...
Killa Dilla Right. At that point there’s no reason for the interviewer being there if the person being interviewed has total control.
Joe’s blinking like crazy! Hope he’s ok
We was on a tour called never say never gave you some cocaine when you were under the weather
Biz smoked that!
Finally someone said it. I was reading the comments to see if someone had an answer for it
Joe I agree with you... happy new Year's
Mal annoying here
Joe's saying why is it posted on his channel PR style? This isn't an interview, that was a 2hr autobiography. Not 1 person called drake out on any specific points.
Mal loves Drake so much it's wired, won't admit pusha t crushed Drake, won't here what Joe is saying about the interview, just loves everything Drake does, wierd
Wish you could spell
Drake is a dope artist but he's not an innovator, he doesn't start trends or sounds, he adapts well to other people's sounds i.e Kanye (808s), Weeknd, Migos, Future, Afrobeats, dancehall, UK Drill etc.
Facts
M 360 __ Andrew Campbell
Both of guys are highlighting very, very salient points.
Migos and future ??????? Who does future sound like lol who do migos sound like
Goaty Flex read carefully, I said Drake adapted to all of those artists’ sounds
“You guys!!?” 😂 Joe is a trip!
That interview was too boring for me to make it through it all. Maybe I just don’t find Drake & his storyline that interesting. I definitely don’t believe his baby mama situation & he’s in denial about a few things. It’s not for me.
U speaking all facts
Breathe721 It was his attempt at controlling the narrative after being booed at Flog Gnaw and sonned in front of the world. It was basically damage control
Same
18:40 Joe sends a subtle jab at Eminem lol
Joe saying it was the best, worst interview is funny.. I thought his Nicki interview was exactly that... Hot take: Joe actually doesnt do good interviews
You totally skipped over everything he said on why he thought that way about it. And he was correct. That nicki interview was a dreadful mess.
He doesn’t give good interviews? Watch the pull-ups. Then come back and talk to me about “ not giving good interviews”
@@greenmatrix30seven ive seen all the pull ups.. Nothing stands out...
Oohh plz. Don’t gimme that. He asks good questions.
John was spot on with it being Produced and an ACT. A lot of looking up to the left
So Mal thinks drake didnt get bodied by Push? 🤔 to each his own I guess
cause yall saying ''bodied'' like his career over or something. it was just a lost
@@DesignzRUs I say bodied as in a loss, never did anyone thing drake's career would be over but it was his first loss after he bodied others
@@DesignzRUs he got bodie by Push.. just like he bodied Meek.. Meek still has a career and so does Drake
Designz R Us bodied meant in reference to that battle. Geesh I like Drake too but I mean let’s keep it a buck.
@@LSDAPROMC /thread
Thank you Joe!!!! All I could think when Mal was talking was STOP CAPING Mal!
Can anyone else feel the sensitivity & tension between Mal & Joe when Drake is the subject?
Dyin @ when Joe said "About manz"
Y'all didn't even discuss Drake no longer being on YMCMB anymore 🤔? Neither did they discuss him and Nicki not being cool with each other anymore
Why is everyone not asking any questions about him and Nicki since they were friends for years?😱
Dude THANKS TREY. Address IS THERE MORE FROM SCORPIO, not being on YMCMB, “as soon as this album drop I’m outta of the deal, back at the crib playing DeAngelo how does it feel?”
What other deal? Bc THAT WAS THE LAST PIECE OF WORK ATTACHED TO YMBMC. So obvious. And you want to know the real???
Bc if you do: RESEARCH THE WALT DISNEY ANGLE. It’s in the same song and subs you can extract from all Walt Disney character catelogs and DRAKE LIED ABOUT IT IN INTERVIEW AND BUDDEN KNOWS AS WELL AS EVERYONE IN THE INDUSTRY AND NO ONE TALKS ABOUT IT.
Talk about Kaping !!!! Colin Kaepernick.
Young Walt Disney: Drake
Goofy: Wayne
Mickey: Kendrick
Go read all their lyrics it’s super clear.
23:30 We need a neutral position. You can't have a criminal question a criminal they both getting away. I think Joe just wants some transparency.
I'm glad Joe called Mal out on his caping smh chill bro they not your friends
He's getting annoying for real he was cool at first
@@thekyletechno agreed
9:56 AYOOO lmao Joe has had ENOUGH I'm crying 😭😂
The interview was produced more like a movie than a documentary
Joe budden is literally obsessed with drake. Every topic about drake he always gives it that extra passion and effort. It’s very interesting
That’s every topic
He's the biggest rapper rn and he dissed him 4 songs deep and Drake gave him 4 bars
Its cause drake got his style from joe.
rman envious!
I think it’s cos drake had sex with tahiry who at the time was the love of his life
Yeah I'm getting tired of Mal & his safe people list
I want someone to love me the way Mal loves Drake
Damn!
Jean weh Yu deh?
Ovo mal has returned
Watching this in 2024 and I can't BELIEVE how Budden is trying to speak truth and these dudes are back pedaling and defending Drake until the end. Ugh.
