    I think the 'changing the world' comment from Scott was referencing his collaboration with Fluent Disc Golf. They created "Discovery Zones", a package sort of deal that has beginner signage and stuff to make it easy and quick for Cities to put it in a small area of a park. Seems like a pretty cool idea.

    I own all 3 Stokley disc's and I love each one of them (my friend has the Ching disc Juju that Scott is now producing as well). I typically throw more understable disc's so they're not my go-to. But everyone finds themselves somewhere on the course where flippy just isn't the answer. The cardinal is great for straight pushing with a guaranteed fade at the end. And the owl will start to fade 75 ft after you release it. They're so clutch that I always refer to my throws with them as "Stokley saves". Haha. Hand feel is slightly grippy which leads to a more flexible disc. But even with a little extra flex they stand up to the extra torque of a forehand with no issues. I highly recommend giving them a shot!

    This very bad disc golfer would love to try these molds. Stokely is the definition of a passionate, yet measured, ambassador. He's committed to the process of making disc golf accessible and making the activity grow organically.
    Does that mean his manufacturer will survive? No - but it means the way he's going about his new business venture is commendable.

    I only have experience with the prototype Wren. After getting familiar with it for a month I bought 2 more proto Wrens. The Wren is my go to point and shoot approach/ short drive disc, it has a very reliable flight and I love the feel of the plastic. I also tried a Wren as a dedicated putter for 6 weeks where it worked just fine for me. For me the Wren is more a thrower than a putter but I would not be afraid to use one in either slot. Stokely has a winner with this disc.

    I have a wren, cardinal and an owl. Right now the cardinal is the only one living in my bag. I putt with aviars and approach with zones so those spots would be hard to kick out.
    I will say the owl is definitely more over stable than the zone but not as beefy as a zone OS.
    I love the cardinal. It’s fairly glidey, but reliably overstable. The thermo plastic feels AWESOME. I would definitely be interested in picking one up in base plastic and same with the owl. I bet the owl in base would beat in super nice.
    I would definitely recommend Stokely discs. There’s something for everyone and can’t wait to find out more about the Finch!

    I have an Owl in my bag, and it just about kicked out every other overstable approach disc in my bag. It's not quite as beefy as my Star Toro, for example, but it's definitely more overstable than my Putter blend Zone and my R-Pro Pig. It's pretty deep compared to the Zone, but I actually prefer that for backhands, and it does still work for forehands, but I only use it when I really need to throw a touchy flex line that my Zone won't fight out of. I really like the Thermo plastic, too. It's got a similar gumminess and flex as R-Pro, but it's a premium blend, so it doesn't stick to my fingers the way that R-Pro does (which leads to many grip locks). I look forward to see what other molds Scott has in store!

    I use Wrens as my putter. But if I decide to use it for approaches it goes nice and straight. Tried a Cardinal but it isn’t a flight shape for me.

    No, there's not space for all of these companies. My local shop stocks Innova and MVP, and that is enough to have people glossing over the Discraft and Prodigy that is in store. I still would love to try Stokely's discs, but I know how good a Pyro is, I know how good an Envy or Proxy is, the feel of the discs in store would have to do a lot of the lifting.

    • @mickster_t
      @mickster_t 5 дней назад +2

      We'll just have to see how the market shapes out. Personally, I have zero interest in MVP or Innova and will always prefer some these smaller ones with more personality. A disc is a disc is a disc, after all. Granted, it may be a different perspective for a shop owner.

    I guess it's a good thing, that there are so many companies popping up, but only if at least some of them try something new. Mvp is the perfect example of how to stand out among so many others and really grow. Loft has similar scientific mindset, they have some unique molds like that driver with rounded edges and people start to recognize them even in really small communities like in my country. Then there are all the "recycled" themed companies, looking at Trash Panda this is also a very viable way to get attention and be environmentally friendly at the same time. There just has to be a ton of other companies, that only try to copy popular products to make some profit. Interestingly I think they also actually have to exist even if only for statistics. There is a good chance, that you can pick 5 stand out companies out of a 100 but there is no way you can pick 5 out of 5 ;) In general I really like what I'm seeing in regards to technological progress in our sport. There is already so many new cool stuff to try out and it seems it's gonna get much crazier soon - I mean testing discs with robots, manufacturing with cnc, lathe or 3D prints, new materials or new aerodynamic tricks.

    • @mmdoof
      @mmdoof 4 дня назад

      It seems to have some of that early stability of the Zone OS but without the crushing fade. Pretty useful flight for a placement/approach disc.

    • @Chillydall02
      @Chillydall02 4 дня назад

      It’s like a zone with less glide basically. It’s stable but at the same time it doesn’t have that crazy right to left fade. It more so just drops out of the air.

  • @superblitz

    Stokley discs plastic feels, in a word: "basic". If he made it in the plastic used for the JuJu, I think that will be a big improvement.

  • @EvanBradleyEDB

    While I love Scott’s approach to the game and the way he’s bringing these discs to market, I gravitate toward stable/understable discs, so the Cardinal and Owl aren’t really for me. I could see using the Wren as a throwing or maybe even a main putter, and am also interested in what the Finch will be when released

    • @Chillydall02
      @Chillydall02 4 дня назад +1

      I got a chance to talk with Scott recently and asked him about it. He said it’s gonna be a straight fairway driver so I’m assuming 7-8 speed with a 0 1 or 0 2 fade.
