I would say an iPad 9th gen could last you 3-4 years with the latest updates and a year of app support updates after that. This is based on how long the iPad 6 lasted. It would be great for a 4 year program, but I would consider selling it after 3 years and upgrading before it significantly loses its value from not getting the latest updates. Thanks for your support watching the channel!
There’s iMovie which is a free video editing software and you can buy subscriptions for other software like watered down versions of Final Cut Pro or Adobe premiere, but you would need an iPad with a “M” series chip for Final Cut Pro. Depends on what you have to spend and how much you care about that stuff. You can get an air 3 around that price that has that stuff, but its not going to last as long.
@@TerrysTechTips When you consider that you will spend 100's or 1000's of hours looking at the screen of a tablet or laptop, a quality screen is very important! Better to spend an extra 100 or 200 and get the premium screen. A wise investment. And the same thing goes for RAM on a Mac. Don't make the mistake of only getting 8 gigabytes.

I just bought my iPad 9 a month ago and I gotta say it’s amazing and I blame myself what didn’t I buy it earlier, guys if you wanna buy a good and efficient tablet this one might be one of the best choices you have, for college students specially master guys who’s working on their thesis it’s a great choice. BTW even if Apple doesn’t support it it still worths to have, I have iPhone 8 and it’s still so good ❤
In my opinion, when you’re spending that much, you should just spend the extra 100 to get the iPad 10. The 10 has no bezzels, giving it a bigger screen, 4k display, and much better processing. But if you need a budget ipad, yes, the 9 is good
It depends what your happier with. Just be mindful that the 14 pro will last you about 5-6 years of updates while the 12 will last you 3-4 years of updates. Also keep in mind the health of the battery as the phone ages.
$199 on Amazon as of October 2024. Really the only downside is that the 9th Gen iPad was discontinued earlier this year, so it's starting that slow slide into obsolescence. But if you get 3-4 years out of it (or more), at that price it's still a no-brainer purchase. I just need it to run Sharepoint and Teams, plus a little web surfing and FaceTimeing (yes, that's a word!). Plus at $199, I'm more comfortable throwing it in the saddlebag on my motorcycle where it might get damaged or stolen than I would be with a $500+ model.
Currently waiting for mine to be dropped off at my door! I have been wanting one since 2013 ever since I started using tablets to draw with UPDATE: ended up getting my iPad as of 530 last night currently on it right now, and absolutely dying because of how much I love it!! I didn’t realize how much more you could do on this than a normal android tablet! Now I’m not going back, definitely! Best purchase ever!!
That’s awesome! It is currently on sale where I live. What activities do you enjoy doing on the iPad? I am trying to learn how I would utilize it more vs my MacBook Air laptop
I got it a year ago with 2 fisical books free in a local bookstore for $269 and still feel ripped off, don’t buy it, it works well but feels slow and kinda sloppy
Been wanting an iPad just to pay bills and search web as my computer is in the basement. My 2011 iMac just took a crap and so I went to Best Buy and they had an open box iMac for $1000 and an open box iPad 10gen both in blue color and $1400 out the door. Now I’m debating if I really needed both. I woulda just bought the iPad if my Mac was still running. Ha. Def both great items and run so much faster than my older Mac. I was debating on the 9gen iPad but getting the 10 for less price I ft was justifiable. I actually like led the thumb ID on the 9 better than the finger ID on 10
If you were able to get the basic iPad 10th generation (an open box unit) near or below the price of a new basic iPad 9th generation, for 100 percent sure, you should keep your current iPad. At a later date, just make sure to also buy an Apple pencil 1st generation (with the special adapter needed for the 10th generation model) and like myself, a Logitech Combo Touch keyboard and case. The iMac is great for computer use at home and the iPad (with the Logitech Combo Touch) is great when in another room of the house, at a coffee shop, or just out on the go (smile...smile).

Fully laminated display
Antireflective coating
iPad Air and iPad Pro have the better screen.
Have enough money to easily buy any iPad model Apple sells but, I always select their basic iPad units. Currently, I am using the basic iPad 9th generation with 256GB and the cell data option paired with a Logitech Combo Touch keyboard and case and everything works great together (smile...smile).
@@transitengineer But the basic iPad has an inferi0r screen. Especially when you are outdoors in stronger light.
How many hours will you look at the iPad screen over the next 3 to 5 years?
@@DerekDavis213 I agree with you 100 percent that, the screen on the basic iPad models are poor in bright sunlight. So if, I worked in the field and used my iPad daily, I would need a better model than the iPad 9th generation.
BTW even if Apple doesn’t support it it still worths to have, I have iPhone 8 and it’s still so good ❤
Slapped a Logitech keyboard on mine and it completely replaced my windows laptop.
What are you recording yourself with? Camera or iPhone? Which device? It looks pretty decent
I typically film talking head shots with a Cannon EOS M50 camera and my b-roll with an iPhone 15 Pro.
How about the IOS support
I would say another 5 years.
In my opinion, when you’re spending that much, you should just spend the extra 100 to get the iPad 10. The 10 has no bezzels, giving it a bigger screen, 4k display, and much better processing. But if you need a budget ipad, yes, the 9 is good
I suppose if you can find one for $100 extra and like the new design.
@@TerrysTechTips yeah
@@TerrysTechTips The 9 is low budget, the 10 is mid budget, the air is high mid budget and the pro is high high budget in my opinion.
4k display???

There $400 in Australia
Should I trade my 14pro to like a 12 and Also get this iPad ?
It depends what your happier with. Just be mindful that the 14 pro will last you about 5-6 years of updates while the 12 will last you 3-4 years of updates. Also keep in mind the health of the battery as the phone ages.
There is no comparison to an iPad and kindle I have and like both but iPad is so much better.
It’s better than a kindle for what you’re paying for! Good cheaper tablet.
I just bought a 256g 9th generation and it cannot update to IOS 18 and does not give the option of skipping. It's currently unusable, will be returned
you sound like a moron
Apple prices in the USA always surprise me. Products in Europe cost 1.5 sometimes 2times the US price.
Wow
Notes taking would ne Great with pen
On sale right now for 199 on Amazon
Just bought one for my 3 year old . It’s for kids i guess baby thing
Currently waiting for mine to be dropped off at my door! I have been wanting one since 2013 ever since I started using tablets to draw with
UPDATE: ended up getting my iPad as of 530 last night currently on it right now, and absolutely dying because of how much I love it!! I didn’t realize how much more you could do on this than a normal android tablet! Now I’m not going back, definitely! Best purchase ever!!
Wow! glad you enjoy it.
That’s awesome! It is currently on sale where I live. What activities do you enjoy doing on the iPad? I am trying to learn how I would utilize it more vs my MacBook Air laptop
Can I watch Netflix on the 9th generation?
Yes of course! With a Netflix subscription.
I got it a year ago with 2 fisical books free in a local bookstore for $269 and still feel ripped off, don’t buy it, it works well but feels slow and kinda sloppy
Use it for Xbox cloud gaming and Xbox remote play.
I'm the 1k like
Best Buy $250. Love it!
I actually like led the thumb ID on the 9 better than the finger ID on 10
Buy whatever you like
If you were able to get the basic iPad 10th generation (an open box unit) near or below the price of a new basic iPad 9th generation, for 100 percent sure, you should keep your current iPad.
Still kicking ass in 2024 and only $250 to boot.
I got the 64gb hopefully it’s enough only wanted it for internet browsing and watching RUclips but maybe I’m gonna be downloading comics to read on it
