The misalignment is essentially a given with yellow lasers. They are so hard to produce and many don't even work at all and have to be rejected. It is also VERY hard to create a powerful one. You are also lucky to have a stable laser that doesn't mode hop and change power. Either way it is really is an amazing color.
Man it would be absolutely epic if you started making laser content regarding handheld lasers, lab lasers, and some longform video showing the inside of your incredible show lasers. I’ve watched everything on your channel, and I can only imagine the cool stuff you have laying around. Some looks into those beautiful lasers would be much appreciated, similar to what Zenodilodon does on his channel.
Also check out les’s lab RUclips channel. He bought one of the 574nm modules from aliexpress for under $100, after seeing his video I also bought one, and mine turned out to be a very nice unit clocking in way over spec, and extremely extremely stable. Casey Watkins would you rather they spend money making the packaging or making the actual laser? You are whats wrong with this world. Go watch the kardashians and get out if here
I really like Yellow lasers, I bought a 50mW yellow from Dragon Lasers, but you have to understand that it's output is affected by temperature. It seems it will peak when the laser is cool rather than warm. You have to avoid warming ut up in your hands otherwise the beam will become weaker then you have to put it down for a few minutes... but as soon as you take it outside in the cool, it jumps back up again. Just something to keep in mind before buying a Yellow laser.
Nice review. I personally have a 593.5nm rigel copy from laser fanatics which does about 2-3mw and a 589nm DL spartan doing 50-60mw. They're a real rarity, most people who've seen them didn't even know yellow laser pointers were a thing.
The Spartan 589 nm reaches 90 mW. I am Sad, that Dragon Lasers dont sell Pointers anymore. My last Dragon was a 50mW 637nm Viper. My best low Power Pointer i ve ever purchased.
My first laser was a .5mw I built in 7th grade, just the he ne tube for it cost 500usd in the early 90s. Green lasers in the same mw at that time were 1k to 5W usd! Then diode lasers came out in red for a few hundred dollars but green ones were still 3 times that in the late 90s. Perhaps yellow will come down in price 20 years from now...
I just got my chines blue 1W laser and its awesome! I can't for the life of me me find out the name brand as EVERYONE on youtube calls it the Chinese blue laser. lol but its a beast. Was going for the yellow which i found a few rep. sites that where fairly cheaper then what your saying it cost but i also realized it was for more of the laser tech person rather then to have fun with. But good post!!!!!
At this power rating. There is no reason for wearing safety goggles. Your blink reflex will stop any damage before it occurs. DPSS lasers are temperature sensitive and will have some fluctuations. Although it is a little higher than 5mW, most likely some IR is leaking as the process of producing yellow lasing is inefficient. These small IR leakage is very week to cause any eye injury.
LuDno On eBay, it seems that not all sellers include chargers and batterys. The ones without batterys and chargers are like £4.50 and the ones with batterys and chargers are £9 but they come in fancy boxes with magnets on them.
My yellow laser is in a large Wicked Laser's host, runs forever on a single 18650 charge, but it cumbersome, because of its size. I expect that form factor to have a high powered diode in it.
Diode lasers work by having donor electrons engage with generated diodes to make photos come out. The natural wavelength for these photons come in the blue to green wavelengths, to make them produce in the yellow wavelengths is amazing! Same with purple...it's really a laser collectors dream not a burner laser buyer who I would point to blue lasers. Gold/yellow was impossible in a hand held laser just a few years ago...

Have you actually tested the wavelength output on these CNI units? Also got one but of the cheaper variants for AAA, but overall very nice pen-build with pianolak with some goldyellow areas.. It weighs 59g without batteries, and my unit is rated for 589nm, but on my 4 spectrometers (CCD based) I get between 590.4 and 593.3nm on my two different LPMs it peaks at 49mW with new fresh AAA cells, (+1.55v) but its highly voltage depended,, with the batteries down around 1.45v the output is down around 30 to 35mW. and it goes without saying these DPSS based lasers, are extremely temperature sensitive, so if you in a cold climate, you can risk that you wont get any visible output only infrared, before the doped crystal is up to temperature. for around 50 bucks, its a nice laser.
I have been looking at lasers for a while and I do not currently own one because I haven't decided which one I would like very impressive laser with money not being an issue I just do not know where to start the search. What in your guys opinions is the "best laser"
Green. The human eye is very sensitive to the color. But always wear safety goggles. I went partially blind and I suspect it was because of a dodgy laser pointer. Don't shine it outside. At night the beam can bounce off a piece of glass or metal and zap you or someone in the eye.
Basic summery is that the Yellow wavelength is really hard to achieve with current lasor knowledge and technology. Diodes and other componenets have to be perfectly calibrated and tightened to achieve this colour. Thats why.
If you mean 589 to 593.5nm in pointer form, they must be from scummy websites that first bought them at original price and then they sell the pointers at unfairly high prices.
well, not for 50 dollars. A laser dot will get bigger over distance, called Diverge. There is no Perfect Laser and i think you dont understand lasers. So no matter how much you pay, The laser will diverge so much that it wont be visible anymore eventually
