    Simple. You did not check the inside of the tire for what caused the initial puncture, so whatever was in the tire punctured the tube.

      Along with the extra sealant I also carry a few extra valves. I’ve had to switch them out mid ride for myself or others due to sealant clogging issues causing slow valve leaks.

      There was no tube in there. We use tubeless tires, what happened was the sealant dried out. It was our mistake for not topping it off ahead of time. Thanks for watching!

      Agree, but when your tires have so many tiny little splinters and other small needle-like things stuck to them, even an extra tube won't cut it. That's why we love tubeless tires for gravel bikes. Unfortunately, we hadn't topped the sealant in a while and was completely dried out :(

    If you ride a tubeless set up,

    I ride on tubes, so I carry spare tubes and patches.
    Was it another puncture or have you not fixed the first one properly?
    There is no such thing as "the tube didn't hold", unless you pump it way over pressure limits.

    • @lifesagem
      @lifesagem  Год назад +2

      I ride tubules on my gravel bike and I get a lot of little tiny punctures and thorns that get caught in the tire but get sealed right away with the sealant. Since the sealant dried out, the tube kept puncturing because of all the splinters and whatnots that get stuck in the tire that would otherwise get sealed up when the sealant is there. I sat there for a while removing all the thorns, splinters, staples and stuff before putting on the tube but I must have missed one. There were too many, and that's why the tube "didn't hold".

    • @prazskabavoracka

    Panaracer Gravel King and WTb Riddler's have had me stuck more than few times.

    No need to carry sealant, you should have been better prepared and checked your bike before undertaking the event.
    Here's a tip, write on the bottle of sealant the DATE you put sealant into your wheels so you know how old the sealant is. It's like knowing when to change the oil in your car.

      @lifesagem  Год назад

      Thank you for your comment and the helpful tip! We appreciate your perspective on bike preparation and maintenance. While it's always ideal to ensure thorough bike checks before any event, sometimes unexpected issues can still arise during rides. Carrying sealant can be a practical precautionary measure for on-the-go repairs. Your suggestion of labeling the sealant bottle with the date of installation is an excellent idea, much like monitoring oil changes in a car. We'll definitely keep that in mind for future rides. • @lifesagem
      @lifesagem  Год назад

      Having a flat tire can indeed be frustrating, especially if it happens at an inconvenient time during a ride like it did for us in this video. Though we had the essentials to repair it, the amount of small splinters in the tire would have definitely caused more flats along the way rendering us with no more tubes for the rest of the ride. Luckily we went back a couple of weeks later and completed the whole ride just the way we had planned. Thanks for watching!

    • @twillyspanksyourcakes
      @twillyspanksyourcakes Год назад

      @@lifesagem Frustrating? Punctures and flats are part of the deal, complaining won't help. You did not take care of your tire (dry sealant) that's why it let you down. Putting tubes for offroad is for getting you home not for continuing the ride.
      Didn't remove whatever that was causing the flat that's why your tubes keep getting punctured. No patch kit in case your tubes need patching, no tire plugs, no tire boot, no extra sealant. Bruuuh. Why use a tubeless setup when you're not going to bring tools to fix it when it fails?
      Blame yourselves for being unprepared in this day and age.

    • @lifesagem
      @lifesagem  Год назад

      @@twillyspanksyourcakes I apologize if my previous response came across as complaining. You make valid points about the importance of being properly equipped and prepared for tire issues during a ride. Punctures and flats are indeed a part of cycling, and it's essential to have the necessary tools and supplies to address them efficiently.
      Carrying a patch kit, tire plugs, tire boots, and extra sealant are all valuable additions to a cyclist's toolkit, especially for off-road or longer rides. These tools can help address punctures and other tire-related issues on the go, allowing riders to continue their ride without relying solely on tubes.
      We appreciate your feedback, and it serves as a reminder for both us and other viewers to prioritize being properly equipped and ready to fix any mechanical that may arise.
      Thank you for raising these points, and we will keep them in mind as we continue to create and share cycling content. Enjoy the journey!
