Slavery is the shared dark side of the history of many nations around the globe. But apart from the accounts of our schoolbooks and some memorable dates, what do we really know about the struggle to put an end to the Atlantic Slave Trade? This story is related in a full drama, by Senegalese feature film director, Moussa Touré, and historian experts.
During the second half of the 19th century, slavery and the trade linked to it were theoretically forbidden. The concept of abolitionism was spread out all around the colonies of various empires. However, the slave trade continued and brought even more injustice and violence, in a world at the dawn of a major change.
Based on precious archives of different kind - logbooks, letters and diaries, written by slaves, ship-owners, slave-traders or colonists - this documentary gathers numerous voices as witnesses of a sad era. By using the aesthetics and the codes of the fiction, as well as a tangible and creative scenario, this exceptional one-off will become a reference.

It is so sad to see people looked at and examined as cattle or horses. The total disregard of humanity is frightening.
That trip across the Atlantic must of ben horrific so sad lots would die b4 they even got there others would die later on from shackle poisoning. Hard to imagine someone could treat others like this like they wer just animals to them cargo just a dark time in history unimaginable cruelty
Very well made. What those people went through was horrible beyond imagination.
Wasn't sure about watching this but then I saw it's NOT an American documentary and gave it a shot. Very well done and not political. Just the stories told from several different perspectives at that time through their journals, notes, manuals and narrations. Well worth watching. *I just read the description and it was realistically created by a Senegalese Director. That makes it even better IMO.
Thanks for the upload. Very well produced and dubbed.
The things humans will do for profit.
Too sad for words.
This is a crazy world
It's crazy this was even acted out in modern day. Insanity
Agreed....I watched Roots, to its(series)-completion . But Seeing Africans being EnSlaved, by their Own(treacherous)-ppl....only lasted for 5 mins(b4 switching it off, in Disgust) . 😢
I simply love this channel. Thank you for all your work.
Nothing must make christians more proud than their bible justifying such cruelty.
Who sold those people to the slave traders in the first place?
