- My first raw impressions of Johannesburg South Africa. NOT WHAT I EXPECTED. I was always threatened and told not to dare go to SA or even worse Jozi. What I saw was totally different. Watch like and subscribe

I’m an American who has visited Joburg every 4 months since 2020, lived there in 2020, and visit 2 or 3 times a year since 2013. I visit all parts of Joburg. From estate to townships, urban and rural and “slums”. No problem. Never in fear and frankly baffled about locals definition of danger. It’s usually something minor compared to real crime in similar areas in the USA (I think many seem afraid of their own shadow). They mean well but their fear is basic stuff in cities worldwide. Joburg is much safer than many American cities. I strongly recommend immediately dismissing any form of advice about Africa from a source that can’t walk the area without attracting attention. This ignore most negativity from Europeans because they simply aren’t qualified to quantify experience there and project negative information to the world. I’ve purposely walked (multiple times) so called dangerous parts of Johannesburg and found nothing to fear.
This negative information is driven by certain globalists who want to keep Africans divided and keep excuses for meddling with b African affairs.

I agree. I am from the UK and visit Johannesburg regularly. I love it, so diverse and the people are amazing. I have never seen any trouble. Just be street wise like in any Major City. Joberg rocks!

Dude, it's actually dangerous, the local black folks will you the truth. White folks tend to gloss over. Not everyone who passes through a dangerous zone will get attacked, but if you keep taking risks you will meet your fate one day. All it takes is meeting the wrong people along the way, being at the wrong place at the wrong time.

Any country its own good and bad side. I think you are born to be brave because never scared video recording by using go pro camera easly visible including to aggressive people and dangerous places. I wish God keeps you from the worest things. At least sometimes go to church and give credit to God saving you safe until now from aggressive people and dangerous places without any significant problems. I never felt safe in South Africa. Though a very beautiful country. Spent 2 weeks in Johannesburg, police were very corrupt, always asking me for " cold drinks". I had lots of hard currency on me, and that made it worse for me walking down the road. Branfortein in Johannesburg is full of beautiful girls too

@lozi4163 .....whenever they pulled me over, they always asked for cold drinks. Am a Nigerian, even when I needed a export permit for my car that I bought for my South African tour. All they were all interested in was " cold drinks", even when I was leaving South Africa at the border to Botswana, they searched my bags, my car engine number and chassis number, when they realised they could pin anything on me, they demanded for 1k rands which I politely refused. My saving grace was that I had a British passport on me, when I threatened to call British embassy, that was when they allowed me to go. My overall experience, South Africans are really lovely people. Just that their police won't help u except u give them some money to do their jobs

When u encounter police in SA it means you were engaged in a criminal activity especially being asked for cold drink money.
I think it's a good think that you forgot your phone so you would not be able to buy Nkabi hat. Nkabi in Zulu means assassin or hitman. In South Africa the people (usually Zulus) who are hired to kill are referred to as Izinkabi. You can Google for yourself Nkabi or Izinkabi you will understand what I mean. I am not sure though whether those guy's brand is associated with the assassins or not but they look dodgy.
