What a SUPER Band!! Dave Greenslade, Dick Heckstall Smith, Chris Farlowe, Dave Clem Clempson, John Hiseman. Valentine Suite and Colectors Colosseum, great music!
I saw them a couple of weeks ago, although no Jon or Dick, not even Barbara - for the obvious reason. And no David G, but Chris, Clem and Mark Clarke have been joined by some top players, including Malcolm Mortimore, previously of Gentle Giant, filling Jon's shoes. Kim Nishikawara on sax and Nick Steed on keys. Adding new music to the back catalogue.
This is an incredible band. I saw them live in 1997, and although I wasn't a huge fan back then as a teenager and very much into hard rock, I remember how nobody I've ever seen blew my mind like Chris Farlowe with his marvellous voice and stage presence.
One and only lineup, saw them at Albert Hall so many moons ago, met Dick doing a local gig down in Dorset in 1991...love em! Chris still at it at age 81
Fantastic. I only saw Colloseum live the once at the Walthamstow College in east London. Chris Farlowe had just joined the band and it was his first appearance with them.
I attended a Colosseum concert for the first time at the Marquee club in London in 1969. Chris Farlow joined them later. It was a fantastic performance.
Jon played a lot of jazz with his wife Barbara Thompson's band - plus Colosseum and Colosseum II - which featured Gary More and Don Airey. And for Andrew Lloyd Webber on Variations.
I have always love this song since Jack Bruce's original recording and the Colosseum take on it. This is a spell-binding performance from Chris Farlowe.
These guys came from South East London. I was introduced to them, early days and was in awe of their musician-ship. As a prog hippie of the late 60's, they were right up my street along with Chicago, Blood Sweat and Tears. After seeing Dick play 2 saxes at once, that was the instrument i wanted to learn to play. I saw them at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in Croydon, along with the New Youth Jazz Orchestra. Their original guitarist, James Litherland and bassist Tony Reeves made the band a great blues band. Listen to the track Buttys Blues ! Seriously excellent. My wife bought me tickets for the last concert at the Hammersmith Apollo in 2014. we alos saw teh last appearance of Jon Hiseman at teh Stables in Milton Keynes, before he sadly passed away from a brain tumour. Best album is "Colosseum Live" played loud !!
Jack Bruce didn't sing with Colosseum but he wrote this song with Pete Brown and recorded it on his debut solo album 'Songs For A Tailor'; do check it out - quite different but also spell-binding in its own way. Regards!

Never saw any of this reunion show until recently. Farlow and all sound great. I have their live double album from the early 70's. Never got the recognition they deserved but that can be said for many bands and artists
I think Chris Farlowe can sing. He just has a very different style than you are used to. He may not sing as good as he used to. Go back some years and listen to all of the material he sang on for the Atomic Rooster. Incredible stuff.
Strangely enough, the original Jack Bruce version was one of only two songs on the "Songs for a Taylor" album which Jon Hiseman did NOT play drums on. I believe Dick Heckstall-Smith did play on it though.
Great!! I know and love all Jack Bruce's stuff but this cover is great too!! Thee Chris Farlowe of doing the Rolling Stones cover?? This is super cool!!
John Hiseman's band? A yes subtitles answered my question. Prefer Jack Bruce's version but Coleseum were a great band. I'd forgotten all about them. 🙄🙄

I know l heard years, ago a non- live ,studio version of this, song light years ago and it rocks hard still in the fight corridors of my mind but cannot locate it on CD for the life of me ! Any gracious helper to help me do so ?
@@jonathanstill29 The original version was by Jack Bruce on his debut solo album, 'Songs for a Tailor'. Though that album included Colosseum members Dick Heckstall-Smith on sax and drummer Jon Hisman, neither featured on this tune. Instead, John Marshall of Soft Machine did the drumming. Colosseum covered the tune, with Clem Clempson singing, on their USA-only album 'The Grass is Greener'. That album is now available as part of the 2-disc CD set 'Valentyne Suite', which also includes 'Elegy', 'Jumping Off the Sun' and 'Lost Angeles'. ruclips.net/video/GyqRzcumXcU/видео.html

(táradalomra csekély mértékben veszélyes elkövetési magatartás miatt a legenyhébb büntetés is feleslegessé vált) :)
Ez csak max 2 perc, de ha Mike Oldfield 2 korai albumának alaposan lerövidített verzióját is feltöltöttem volna, akkor szerintem most nem írogathatnánk. Tudni kell, hol a határ! :D
What a SUPER Band!!

Colosseum live one of my favorite albums
Very good rendition of a Jack Bruce classic!
Fantastic. I only saw Colloseum live the once at the Walthamstow College in east London. Chris Farlowe had just joined the band and it was his first appearance with them.
R. I. P. Dick Heckstall Smith never forgotten
A brilliant gentleman I once met.
Indeed, still one of my favourite tenor sax players - such a rich sound.
Incredible energy, incredible band... 50 years after, still jazz rocking at their best, WOW! Colosseum Live: a record I grew up with.
Mooie stukjes nummers. Kon mij wel bekoren.

Thank you Colosseum for reminding me what concerts where like before Covid 19 lock down. Even though dated it has given me so much pleasure.
Fantastic band had the pleasure of seeing them on many occasions 🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄
You lucky!
Vind ik heel mooi. Te gek nummer
This was a great reunion of original members in 1994, great strong version, Dave Greenslade is wonderful on the vibes intro.
Very good music. Since I first time listen Colosseum I was impressed of this genius drummer. Great.

Great footage. What a voice. 👌🏻
This is a fabulous version of the song with exceptional sound engineering. Beats all the rest. God bless Colosseum.
Really great, Coloseum! Thanks for share.

A superb performance of a great, great song. (Jack Bruce: R.I.P.)
What a great great song...the lyrics the music a great creation great interpretation.thx thx jack should be a jazz standard
Dick Heckstall-Smith looks exactly the same as in the 70's. Incredible!
...and sounds the same! Or even better? I think he was still warming up, when the keyboard intercepted, hmmm.

Chris Farlowe. Great voice. Now a blues singer.
Fantastic!
Oslo 70. Still Love Them. Dag
What a nice way to start my day.
Thank you for the most magnificent music!
Chris Farlowe, you are an unusual man, and i think you're very good at it.
why is he unusual?
@@jandavis4436 cause of his specific timbre of voice, I suppose
He's from 1940. Enough to be unusual.
He looked a bit intimidating and mad during his years with Atomic Rooster
Maybe just because he's a large stature fellow. He has gone from a bit Lurch in the 70s to a dignified older big guy.
Never saw any of this reunion show until recently. Farlow and all sound great. I have their live double album from the early 70's. Never got the recognition they deserved but that can be said for many bands and artists
