i like how citadel DLC party is both funny and very sad at the same time, few games managed to capture same feeling of connection to characters as Bioware does in mass effect, timeless classic
I like to imagine Liara is browsing through pictures of her with Shepard and the rest of their allies in the trilogy. Shepards either recovering (my Destroy ending Shep survived in my headcannon) or gone (Control and Synthesis).
It has been confirmed a while ago that Shepard _does indeed_ live after the Destroy ending, that wasn't them taking their last breath...that was them waking up. 🥲
I heard someone call this piano track "Liara's Vigil", and after playing through the Citadel DLC myself, it fits perfectly. One because the song she play's is "Vigil" but on piano, but also for the reason below. I'm a Tali-mancer, so I never romanced Liara, but even platonically, she is always with you, either from the sidelines or behind/beside you. In ME1, she watches you chase down Saren starstruck, just a kid thrown into a intergalactic conspiracy with her pulled along for the ride. But she loves it, loves Shepard enough, that when she finds out there's even a sliver of chance that you might survive, she finds your body and gives it to Cerberus. It is implied that when she becomes the Shadow Broker in ME2, she plants bugs and hidden cameras just to keep an eye on Shepard, to make sure you're alright. And in ME3, she is there from the beginning. Where everyone else joins in some time after you go off into the galaxy, Liara is right there, quietly helping you discover how to save it, right after you escape from Earth. As I said, I never romanced Liara, but I always got the feeling that regardless of if you romanced her or not, she still loves you, and she has always kept watch over you, like the moon watches the Earth. I was always a little dissapointed that she never got that much dialogue throughout any of three games, but it just reinforces the idea that she is keeping silent vigil, "a period of watchful attention maintained at night or other times" Lmao longest comment, but I was listening to this while I was lying down and I caught feelings.
Man, I totally feel and relate to everything you just said. I'm also a die-hard Tali-mancer and never romanced Liara and everything you said was perfect. Liara is one of the best friends anyone could have.
@@GothicElf68 Oh, no need. I’ve watched all of Liara’s romance on RUclips a while back. It’s really well written and she’s one of my favorite characters. I just see her more as a friend to my Shepard. Sorry, I just love Tali too much to do anything else lol.
@@GothicElf68 I love Garrus, but I don’t like Tali and Garrus hooking up because I just get jealous lol. Same with my friend who loves Garrus, she gets jealous too.
This is only so poignant because it interrupts the intense focus on endgame that makes you forget about the human, emotional element to it all. It seems I come here every time I feel similarly....so focused on something else that I forget what matters. It brings me home...just as it does every playthrough, when Shepard is conflicted between violence and what she is, in fact, fighting for. I can listen to it endlessly, and that makes this very valuable. Thanks for the upload. The time for Unity is now.
This thing has been in my "watch later" playlist for like 3 or 4 years. I always come back to this when I need a relaxation or some ME3 vibes. This one is one of the best ambients I've ever seen. Thank you dude! Good job!
Without support from seemingly anywhere else, with things being weird and complicated for a while in ME2, and with the world literally ending around us, they found this sweet moment together in all the chaos. I'll never forget this series. I'll never let go of these characters.
Citadel was probably the best DLC content I have ever played, for any game. Just my opinion, but damn...it sure rounded out the trilogy and gave you one last chance to say goodbye to companions that were with you from the start. Mass Effect was an amazing, once in a lifetime kind of game trilogy.
Does anyone else have a saved game that they will never finish just to be able to go to liara and wish that that relationship was real and you just never want to let go that the game just went one from there as the two of you living life and never had to worry about anything else anymore I have honest to god not cried since I was a very young child but this chokes me up every time
I always will romance Tali no matter what, but christ, Liara is just an amazing friend. She's the best friend anyone could have. Her romance is also so well written.
Poor, lonely Liara... Destined to outlive all her non-Asari friends and family... Even if Shepard survived... I just hope she got pregnant one of the last few times she and Shepard "joined"
in control ending shepard is immortal, he shall be by her side till the end using a reaper. That's why control ending is my favorite. shepard will accompany all his friends forever
@@Illuminous_ Well it doesn't really come across that way in the ending. I would have liked to see everyone's reaction to encountering a friendly Reaper and then hearing Shepard's voice coming from it.
Liara is the most beautiful thing in the history of Mass Effect and Vigil is literally the soul song of it except for the main theme maybe. How's she not everyone's favorite?? She's the best.
You feel she's the right one for Shepard on the Shadow Broker DLC but feel really it at this very moment at the end of the trilogy. I really liked Jack's romance too, but Liara is special.
I didn't want Liara to leave during this visit. STAY. I felt sadness after the party. Return to the Normandy. That is it. We only have the Final mission left. We will leave and the Citadel will go to Earth. The efforts to shore up C-Sec, Kelly Chambers and everyone in the Refugee camp will perish. We go off to Battle and Lose our Station. We will come Back after London but never again to this place and these people.
This always makes me hope somewhere out there in the universe there's a real race like the asari. I'd honestly give anything to have someone that could join with my mind and know exactly what I'm feeling and how to help me through things that are frustrating or upsetting to me. Don't get me wrong my girlfriend can almost read my mind but unless you could join my mind I don't think anyone can truly feel and understand how I think and see the world. Being on the spectrum is so hard to describe.
Well, this is music from better times of mine, when i turn it for my wife to make both of us relaxed from working routine. Now i listening this by alone before sleep cause we going through divorce. I love how Liara is at Shepherd’s apartment like she’s waiting for him/her to return
Well... she is... don't tell me otherwise :)
You just made me sad
I am Commander Shepard and this is my favourite way of spending time on the Citadel.
Nah, it's actually falling through fish tanks, stealing your own ship and throwing parties for your friends.
Love this one, brings so many memories back about The Citadel DLC. Thank you for sharing. Hackett out.
You worked really hard in all 3 games, you deserve some shore leave to Admiral.
Steven Tan thank you very much Steven, as you know there is always a Reaper threat so no vacation / shore leave for me. Hackett out.

So well said !
Don't Know why but I cried the first time that I got to this part. Thank you for the video
Because it's was the near the end of the trilogy...we all felt sad...well at least until the last 10 mins of the game.
yeah lol, untill the sadness turned into "wtf" and anger...
Same here :)
I'm pretty sure we all did
All I want for Christmas this year is for old BioWare to come back.
Like all great developers, their time is finite. All good things must come to an end.

Just finished the game and this moment really stood out to me.
Always loved the simplicity of this song. There's a video of someone in Tali cosplay playing this theme on a harp. Amazing.
You know how to find that video?:(
