It's true there's no reason to hate her, but she rarely appears, so there's no reason to fully appreciate her character since one hasn't seen it besides some flashbacks or small moments like these. I can't say she's best girl, since she hasn't done much of anything to make me think that way.

But Will's affection for her is one of the most cliche, shallow and boring motivations they could have possibly given him. The comment above mine makes a good point about this. We don't see Elfie or explore her character enough to become as invested in her as Will clearly is, so we can't relate to the crazy amount of love he has for her. That naturally also means we aren't going to be invested in a large portion of the plot as a whole seeing as this show's writing is so infatuated with their relationship; a relationship I and many other people watching this show don't care about. Unfortunately it's kind of a running problem with a lot of anime. Romance is just such an innately dull motivation that you have to work hard to make interesting. This anime does nothing to make it interesting. It just goes "Oh look, Will is so in love with Elfie! Isn't that sweet?" No, not to me. Because I don't know anything about one of the characters involved in said relationship, and the other just kind of feels like another basic simp protag as a consequence of that. TLDR: I don't hate Elfie herself, (I'm kinda just indifferent to her) but I do hate the problem her role in the show perpetuates.

She proly only want to erase/edit will's memory, she proly doesn't really care about anyone else. All she wants is for will to not have that "misunderstanding", that it was not bullying but her wanting to keep will "all for herself".
