What is a Jump Box (or Bastion Host)?

- A jump box is kind of like an SSH proxy that allows you to hide your server's SSH port from the internet, while still allowing authorized people to SSH in. It can make attacking your servers a lot more difficult.

Hi Benjamin ! You really know how to explain things.I hope you will have the time to record more videos and maybe a Udemy course that we can buy 🙂 A big thx for this one.
Your way of explanation is exceptional, thank you.
Thank you so kindly Benjamin for your easy-to-understand tutelage. Much appreciated.
Great explanation. Thank you!
Excellent explanation
Excellent video man. The only thing I noticed was that it is a little bit out of sync with the audio, but the content was spot on.
Oh man, that video/audio sync drives me nuts, but I'm not talented enough to get it quite right in editing. I think I've finally figured out what's causing (at least some) of it. I've been running my webcam through a USB hub. Most of the time it's close enough that I don't notice, but the other day I was recording a video and an rsync backup job started that writes to an HDD plugged in to the same USB hub, thus saturating the USB bus with data. It wreaked havoc on my recording and taught me a valuable lesson. From now, only plugging in directly and minimizing any USB activity!
Thank you so much, you simplified the process for me tremendously.
Very good explanation. Thanks!
Long et good explanations but can be definitely shortnen. No specifications jump box solution when referenced. Theory is good. Practice is better.
Amazing video, thanks!

Hi man thank you So much, "Does Jumb box only work on the SSH port?"
💯👌
nice
Is a jump box similar or the same as a jump server?
Yep! They are the same thing. It can be confusing because there's a lot of different names for essentially the same thing. Terms I've heard:
- Jump Box
- Bastion Host
- Jump Server
- Bastion Node
- Gateway Server (usually in regards to SSH or SSH tunnels such as to a database on a VPC)
- And one place I worked with called it a "Sentry Node"
azure bastion is the overall service and azure bastion host is the jump box deployed by the azure bastion service?
This is very bad and verbose explanation.
I dont understand the logic putting jumpbox instead of using recommended settings if you are using key base authentication along with the mfa why jumpbox need it... Even if jumpbox compromise it still save the history of command access
Great explanation. Thank you!
