For what it's worth, in the third book, Ozma of Oz, Dorothy and Uncle Henry are on a ship bound for Australia, when a giant storm comes up. She thinks he is up on deck (he isn't) so she goes looking for him and gets blown off, along with a wood crate full of chickens. Most of the chickens get blown away but Dorothy is able to float on this makeshift coop. The next morning she discovers one chicken left, who now can talk, so Dorothy knows she had returned to a "fairy land." They wash up on the beach in the land of Ev, adjacent to Oz but separated by the Deadly Dessert. (Later Ozma and a gang cross the dessert by means of a magic rug, as they to rescue the former king's family who have been turned into ornaments by the Nome King. If you've seen Return to Oz and you should, you can see where they got part of their inspiration.) In the fourth book, she falls through a crack in the earth (in California) during an earthquake, along with her cousin, his horse and a kitten, to a magical land below. The Wizard, still in his balloon, happens to descend into the same quake. And much later in the book, Ozma brings them all safely to Oz. Haven't read past the fourth book.
I heard about this movie when it came out, but I didn’t see it in theaters. I do remember this was supposed to be a prequel to The Wizard of Oz. I can tell a lot of people think this wouldn’t work with James Franco playing the wizard and Mila Kunis playing the Wicked Witch of the West. Then again, this was directed by the same guy who directed the Evil Dead movies and the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man trilogy, so there’s some stuff to appreciate in this movie.

@@BeeKee404I think the only criticism I had with Mila Kunis’ version of the character was a lack of screen time with her for her development. I did like Mila as this version or “Theodora.”
Glinda the Good: "Only the true of heart ge to pass thro-oh, crud....!" Oz: *thinks for a moment* "I'M GOING TO DIE!😨" That one scene alone was comedy gold! Always made me laugh! Also, the Green Apple was actually from Snow White's fairytale. Once she bites into it, she falls into a deep sleep. Sleeping Beauty is where Princess Aurora pricks her finger on the cursed Spinning Wheel😊
I enjoyed this film and I'll die on that hill. It's a shame that Disney hasn't touched Oz since because I for one would love to see how they build up and explore this world. The writers drew more from L. Frank Baum's original books than the classic film for copyright reasons, though Raimi, being a cinephile, clearly makes several respectful visual cues and references to that as well. I just loved everything about 'Oz the Great and Powerful.' It doesn't try to be the classic film, instead drawing upon the original literary source material both faithfully and lovingly. Great review here and to experience it through your "fresh" eyes!
I haven't seen this movie in years, but what I liked about this one is (like with the 1939 movie), some of the Oz characters had counterparts in Kansas that were played by the same actors (ex: China Girl and the Girl in the Wheelchair in Oz, Professor Marvel and Oz in Wizard of Oz). I also do like the whole origin of the Wicked Witch of the West, kinda proving that no one was born wicked. I felt so bad for Theodora, especially when she found out too late that her sister lied to everyone.
Much like the 1939 movie the 3 people he was with are people from his life. The Porcelain Doll is the Girl in the wheelchair, the monkey is his assistant and Glinda was the woman who wanted to be with him.
@stevenperez845 also also, Oz's old lover has various hints that she's Dorothy's mother. The gingham dress and that fact that her new fiancé's surname is 'Gale.'

I LOVE this movie! I was obsessed with it from the first time I watched it as a kid. I cried my eyes out the first five times I watched it. I even still have the DVD somewhere.😌 I wish more people would react to this, it's so underrated and SOOO GREAT!!😤 20:44 ''She Turned to Hulk Witch'' had me dying🤣
My Grandma took my family and I to the El Captain Theatre to see this movie. She even took us to the gift shop, and I got the doll of China Girl and the storybook. I still have the doll to this day!
Funny how James Franco and Michelle Williams are in this movie together and both of them are in Spider-Man movies, with James Franco being in the Sam Raimi trilogy and Michelle Williams being in the first two Venom movies.
8:30 Oscar Digg's full name is canon in the books. His first two initials are OZ, and the rest spell PINHEAD. 15:00 China Town is a town in one of the Oz books. I can't remember which.
China County is in the first book, Wonderful Wizard of Oz, which Dorothy, et al, encounter as they travel from Emerald City AFTER they expose Oz and need to seek Glinda, the Good Witch of the SOUTH (the MGM movie blended Glinda and the Good Witch of the North) to get Dorothy home. (The MGM movie also cut out the whole section after the Wizard leaves in his balloon and the adventure to get to Glinda.) In the fourth book, Dorothy & the Wizard of Oz, Dorothy visits her cousin in California. An earthquake opens up a giant crack in the earth and Dorothy, her cousin, his horse and wagon, and a kitten fall through to a magic land underneath. But then the Wizard floats down, still in his balloon, and he tells Dorothy his real name is Oscar Zoroaster Phadrig Isaac Norman Henkle Emmannuel Ambroise Diggs, which initials, as you said, spell out OZPINHEAD, so he only used the first two letters. (The land was already called Oz.) (After a series of dangerous adventures underground, Ozma, who looks in at Dorothy ever day at 4 pm, sees their problems and whisks all of them to the safety of Oz.)
@ my next movie request is a good one and it’s Happy Feet (2006) featuring Hugh Jackman as Memphis and Robin Williams (R.I.P to him) as Rámon and Lovelace then Brittney Murphy as Gloria (R.I.P to her as all before P!nk took the place to voice and sing as Gloria in Happy Feet Two)
I don’t like the fact they kissed at the end. There were never any romance mentioned between Glinda and the wizard in the book or the 1939 movie or any other adaptation. I think Sam Raimi just wanted his Disney movie kiss
From quora: In the first book there are 4, possibly 5 if you count Gayelette. The witches of the East and West, who were wicked and the Good witches, Glinda (south) and the Good Witch of the North who was unnamed. Later books introduce Wicked Witches Mombi, Blinkie and her coven, The Yookoohoos: Mrs. Yoop and Coo-ee-oh, Krumbic: Reera the Red The Adepts: Audah, Aujah and Aurah There are also male witches, usually referred as Magicians or Wizards. Besides the Wizard of Oz there is Bini Aru, Dr. Pipt, Nikidik and Ugu
5:13 For those you may not realize, Annie says in this scene that she's marrying John 'Gale', who has the same last name as the main character of The Wizard of Oz, Dorothy Gale. This means she and John Gale are Dorothy's parents! But the sad part is they've probably died, so Oscar seeing Dorothy must have been a strange sight for him as Dorothy resembles Annie and has the same last name as John.
This really refreshed my memories cause I only seen it once or twice when it first came out. I like seeing prequels seeing how things happened, the reasons, and the causes of why certain characters changed, how certain things effect things, etc. But I do like wicked version better (as a person who only seen the stage musical haven’t read the book… yet) I might come back to this comment and see if I change my mind once I read the book.
You know it’s funny, I just rewatched this today and I remember seeing it back in theaters and few times here and there back then, but I did enjoy this on rewatch and I did not remember every single thing in this movie or even the final scene
Fun Fact: Apparently, Michelle Williams' character at the beginning of the film was asked to be married by John *Gale.* Which is the last name of Dorothy Gale. So it's possible this woman was Dorothy's mother after Oz disappeared.
More people need to react to this(I think it's really good). The initials of Oz's name, in full, spell out "OZ, PINHEAD", as in the original novels. China Girl was my favorite character, I did like that Joey King played both her and the girl in the wheelchair, as in Oz, Oscar was able to help her walk again. Her pulling a little knife, XD Love the reaction to Finley making animal noises. "A...COW?!" Just love how the battle is done, them using tricks to defeat the witches. I get chills every time as Evanora finally believes and says "He is the Wizard..." Lol, love the gift Oz gives Nuk: Nuk:I don't want that!" Oz:"It is yours!" Nuk:"TAKE IT BACK!" Oz:"I cannot..."
There's something really weird about how in this movie, the Wicked Witch of the West and the Wizard were love interests while in Wicked...don't keep reading if you haven't seen the entire play. They're father and daughter!
You should watch Return to Oz! It’s about Dorothy and her being back in Kansas after being in Oz. It’s really good and also kinda creepy but really good
Yet again, your reactions did not disappoint. :) And once again asking you to watch 'Tin Man', another Wizard of Oz adaptation that I absolutely love. It's fantastic and has a lot of fun with some of the Oz lore in a cool way. I think you'd really like it.
According to sources it was really difficult to make the movie because lionsgate?(i think) wouldn't let them use specific things like certain colours of green, even oz's title went through changes. I think there was even a lawsuit at some time😅 So disney had a tricky time making the movie
Saw this in the theatre. So-so. Some good parts. Some eh parts. Maybe I'll watch it again at some point, in a big AU Ozfest. (Everything adaptation is an AU.) This is canon to its own universe, pretty much like _Wicked_ and the 1939 film are canon to their respective universes. (I can't see _Wicked_ as a prequel to the 1939 film.) And _Return to Oz._ They all take elements from the books (and sometimes previous movies) and do their own thing.
This is such a random movie, which makes perfect sense with Raimi as the director, as well as all the jump scares. Speaking of jump-scares, I have a movie suggestion. If you haven't seen the Nicolas Cage fever dream Willy's Wonderland, I HIGHLY recommend it for a reaction. Aside from horror, the only genre I could fit it in is "I said I loved it, not that it was good."
0:08 No, Wicked is not the same Universe as Wizard of Oz. Wicked is a Broadway loose interpretation that uses the Americana of Wizard of Oz from the Baum books and does it's own spin. This movie is closer to actual Wizard of Oz universe even if it does its own liberties as well.
Funny they didn't do the Kansas part in sepia. "I can levitate, I can't [heal]." Like these people don't know what a magic show is, even? This china (as in glassware) city is from the original Oz books (specifically, _Dorothy and the Wizard in Oz)_ by Baum. It's not called Chinatown, of course. Well, Rachel Weiss's character is wearing green. Glinda is the Good Witch of the South in the Oz books but the Good Witch of the North in the 1939 movie, which combined the two witches into one character (which caused some issues with people's opinions of Glinda). Snow White is the one with the apple, although she does wind up as a sleeping beauty for a bit too. "You're the one that's gonna make him break." Ironically. In the book, _The Wonderful Wizard of Oz,_ Glinda kisses Dorothy on the forehead, giving her protection as Dorothy goes on her journey to see the Wizard. Can you see Billie Burke and Frank Morgan as a couple, though? ;) Nice reaction.
I don't know if you've seen Return to Oz that came out in '80s and was sort of a sequel to The Wizard of Oz but was actually more just like a faithful adaptation of the books but it is the closest to the books which were pretty dark tbh.
Having read the books it is very much not close to canonical... I mean maybe him getting there but he didn't know the witches beforehand and they didn't start all good and turn bad, like it was absolutely a prequel written to the movie as opposed to the books. I mean The Wizard of Oz was not the most faithful adaptation itself but... Like wicked is not technically canonical either but it could work within the framing of the books and the original Wizard of Oz where is this actively retcons a lot of stuff which is what annoyed me about it.
I'm coming in late but here's my timeline theory: This movie is cannon in the movie verse, not book verse. It's when the Wizard arrives. The Glinda in this one is Good witch of the SOUTH. THEN Wicked happens. We get introduced to Elphaba and Glinda of the NORTH (2 different characters, same name, possibly daughter or grand-daughter of South Glinda). We follow Wicked's storyline which then takes us to the OG Wizard of Oz. Anyway, hope this makes sense :)
Tbh I’ve never saw this movie as a teenager before but I heard it was weird, crazy, and really good and now thanks to this funny reaction ima give it a watch this weekend 😂
I Loved this when it came out. I remember thinking they would tie this in with some "Wicked" storyplots. I still love it regardless. But you should really react to "The Wiz" (1978) w/ Diana Ross and Michael Jackson
Return to Oz. It’s one if those bad in a good way 80s movies, starring Fairuza Balk. Like the Alice sequels, it explores the possibility that Dorothy might be insane, and I love it when multi-reality stories introduce that possibility. Is that other world real? Do you really care if it is or not? RtO offers a darker, dystopian take on Oz too, showing Dorothy how everything fell apart after she and the wizard left.
this is such an underrated movie, this movie has my heart ever since i was a child. This is my childhood movie and it will always be my favourite, i dont care if james franco is in it or mila kunis, i love them and i love this film.
I watched this for the first time last night, I went in with a wicked mindset, I don't recomend that it was a very strange experince. also love to think this is how he arived but insted of defeating the wicked witch he had to do somthing else and he just had a talking monkey and some cheap magic tricks. If we're going Wicked lore, it would be the great drought, Wizard of Oz Lore would be more along these lines, just without him sleeping with all the witches. also just found your channel and I laughed throughout this entire video, can't wait to watch more.
Oh yeah i just remembered that there's an animated The Wizard Of Oz movie that came out back in 2013 or 2014 it is called Legends of Oz Dorothy's Return and Dorothy gets brought back The Land Of Oz to help out with an entirely new threat

I watched this movie when it came out on digital and watched I just low key thrusted over James Franco back in the day but didn’t really pay attention to the plot 😂
I honestly thought that Rachel would be the wicked witch of the West, while Mila was just the poor "forgotten" witch that just got unalived off after finding out Rachel's secret.
Here's how I see it: Oz the Great & Powerful is an unofficial prequel of the Wizard of Oz movie, so both these movies shared a cinematic universe. Wicked the musical is a fanfic of The Life & Times of the Wicked Witch of the West novel which is a fanfic of the Wizard of Oz novel(like a Turducken?), so those three shared a universe but more like neighboring alternate universes since some things are changed between each other.
Not gonna lie, after seeing Wicked (both the stage production and the movie), Oz the Great and Powerful just doesn't hit as much. It's still a fun movie. Just kinda pales in comparison. Plus James Franco doesn't really help either. I still hold true to my opinion that Mila Kunis as the Wicked Witch of the West was the show stealer. Her voice could've used some work but her delivery and appearance I still really like.
The main downfall of this movie was the idiotic motivation they gave the Wicked Witch of the West. Also, putting romantic tension between Glinda and the Wizard. 🤢 But there were a lot of other aspects to this film I really loved.
I'm not sure what the law of this film is in regards to the overall Wizard of Oz franchise, because especially with the new wicked film coming out, I've been told that the new wicked film is Canon to the original Wizard of Oz, but then again so is this film so I'm not sure how it Works. For example it kind of feels like it's got the Alice in Wonderland trope, where in the first film it was all a dream and everyone from Dorothy's life was in the Wizard of Oz movie, both in Oz and in Kansas, then you had the second film that came out, which I also saw but it wasn't quite as good, it to our knowledge is Canon with the original Wizard of Oz and kind of implies that this place exists on its own, kind of giving us an Alice in Wonderland world, where in the first Alice in Wonderland she thought it was all a dream, the second one she still thinks it's all a dream but Gets proof that it's also real and then in the third one she goes back there, so in this one it's clearly the prequel to how the wizard became the wizard of the Emerald city, it's his origin story, so it's how he came here where he came from and something that does confuse me a little bit with the original Wizard of Oz, the Wizard wasn't a real wizard that something that we canonically know he wasn't a real wizard he was just faking the whole time, he was also the fortuneteller that Dorothy met at the beginning of the film so whether he's a fortuneteller or a magician I don't know but he's definitely not a wizard, then obviously in this film he's been changed to be canonically a magician so again he's not a real wizard he is just a magician, so that for the most part Canon wise does work with the original Wizard of Oz because we know that the Wizard of Oz was not a real wizard. Then you have obviously Mila Kunis playing the wicked witch of the West, i.e. the main wicked witch that Dorothy drops the bucket of water on that kills her, then You have the other lady that was in green, she is I believe the wicked witch of the east, the one that Dorothy drops the house on, then obviously you have Linda the good witch who is the good witch of the self, but then you need the witch of the north right that's the only one that's missing, so is that a third wicked witch, the only way for this and the new wicked film to be Canon, is if the other witch is the wicked witch of the north so that you have three wicked witches and Glenda is the only good witch, that's the only way that this film and the wicked film could be Canon but I think they have the same name the one who's the wicked witch and the one who's this film's wicked witch, I don't know but I'm pretty sure in the new wicked film name is like alpha or something she's the wicked witch right the one from the west that Dorothy drops the water on, so she's the same as Mila's character but that doesn't really work because they have a new backstory for how her and Linda met they weren't related, so I'm just a little bit confused and I'm sure I'm not the only one, my understanding is that it's a completely different universe altogether that this film exists in, where you have the first two which are following from the books and then you have this film which was just kinda like a fun project it was supposed to be the prequel explaining how the wizard came to Oz and how the wicked witch of the West became the wicked witch of the West, but then someone decided to make wicked and I guess wicked had already existed before this film came out but it was just a stage production, but someone decided that they were gonna cast Ariana Grande as Glenda and Cynthia Reba as the wicked witch of the West and now it's a real film and it's apparently Canon so it negates this one or takes place in a different universe I assume, but yeah it's very confusing, I have not yet seen wicked I've only seen the two Wizard of Oz films and this one, I will be seeing the wicked film with Ariana Grande very soon so maybe I will have a new perspective once I have actually seen it for the first time, but because it is a musical adapted into a film I don't know if that changes anything in terms of its Laura and it's Canon like is it really Canon but then again you can say the same about this film, I don't really know it's probably just a different universe maybe they forgot about what happened in this film or they don't really count this film I don't really know, so it's very confusing and maybe somebody else can put it together and make it make sense because I'm honestly very confused and also unsure about the fourth which is she a wicked witch is she a good witch like Linda, who is she, I say this film doesn't tell us anything about her there's only three witches that we know of who's the fourth which we don't know I say change the wicked witch of the self in wicked to be this lady the fourth one that we don't know about and then it will all connect because you already have Mina as the wicked witch of the West who Dorothy drops the water on then you have the lady in green who Dorothy drops the house on and then all you need is the wicked witch of the North because again Glenda the good witch she's the self so have the character from wicked Cynthia Reeves character alphabet I think her name is have Harvey the wicked witch of the North and then it becomes Canon with this film, because if you don't do that then there's two wicked witches there's two different universes it's very very confusing, especially since nobody mentioned the booking which of the north or the good witch of the north is that a good witch is it a wicked witch we don't know nobody mentions her so she has to come from somewhere so you either need to change Cynthia Arriva's character alphabet into the wicked witch of the West like keeping her as that and you know that or you change her to the wicked witch of the North or you change is wicked witch of the West the wicked witch of the north, you have to do that because otherwise it doesn't make sense and it doesn't work, the only way to make it make sense in that logic is if it's two different universes entirely which I'm assuming is what it is, I don't think any of these films really connect to each other someone didn't think about it hard enoughto put that thought into it when making these films I don't think, but if somebody can that would be probably very helpful for the rest of us.
*Elphaba is the Wicked Witch of the West in Wicked her name is an homage to the author of The Wizard of Oz, L. Frank Baum. Nessa Rose is Elphaba's sister, and the one who gets the house dropped on her (supposedly). If I were you, I wouldn't think too hard about any of these Oz movies. Because you will not get a concrete answer on what is canon and what is not. If you want a real answer, just read L. Frank Baum's original Wizard of Oz series, which is 14 books.
If you have watched “The Wizard of Oz” You should watch/add “Tin Man” 2007 to your list. This is the same story but, this movie is an alternate version. With Zooey Deschanel, Alan Cumming, Neal McDonough, Kathleen Robertson.
😢It was my first D-box movie ever back in art school and my hopes were WAY too high 🌪️🎈After Return to Oz Disney wanted to play it way too safe. At least the theatre gave me a glossy poster. I think Bruce Cambell could've played a better Wizard than Franco tbh🤡
Thank you for this ozmazing reaction!! this is one way I can look at each adaption and story of the Wizard of Oz; it’s all about perspective. @@MoviesinDepth _Return to Oz_ with Fairuza Baulk, who goes on to be a witch herself in _The Craft,_ is worth a look.
They have now came out with Wicked, the movie. Check it out.
Yeeeees love this
Much like the 1939 movie the 3 people he was with are people from his life. The Porcelain Doll is the Girl in the wheelchair, the monkey is his assistant and Glinda was the woman who wanted to be with him.
@@stevenperez845 There were actually five people in the 1939 movie. I already mentioned Oz/Marvel, but there's also the Wicked Witch/Gulch.

I even still have the DVD somewhere.😌
I wish more people would react to this, it's so underrated and SOOO GREAT!!😤
20:44 ''She Turned to Hulk Witch'' had me dying🤣
21:03 she was talking about Evanora. The wicked witch of the east. Elphaba in wicked is the wicked witch of the west
I need all 4 witches lore
@ sooo true
Elphaba in _Wicked,_ but not in this.
My Grandma took my family and I to the El Captain Theatre to see this movie. She even took us to the gift shop, and I got the doll of China Girl and the storybook. I still have the doll to this day!
That is AMAZING
That's so cool.
18:23 "Yeah, about that... " 😅😅😅
PFF
Funny how James Franco and Michelle Williams are in this movie together and both of them are in Spider-Man movies, with James Franco being in the Sam Raimi trilogy and Michelle Williams being in the first two Venom movies.
I STILL Can’t believe raimi directed this!!
If the King was Glinda's father, why wouldn't she inherit the throne and become the Queen without the need for a prophesied wizard?
Because plot logic! Lol
True. They also seem to be mixing Glinda with Princess Ozma from the books a bit here.
@@HuntingViolets They also mix her with the Good Witch of the North. 24:38 - 24:40 😘
Because they framed Glinda and made it seem like she killed Jim for the throne so she took over
@@marcusmelancon3426 And people believed that?!?!ò.O
PLEASE DONT CAP IT OFF YET! I really want you to watch the black version of the wizard of OZ. ‘The Wiz’: staring Diana Ross and Michael Jackson!
👀
8:30 In my mind, it does because it makes more sense than the Return to Oz lore
HUH
@@MoviesinDepth Have you watched _Return to Oz_ yet?
8:30 Oscar Digg's full name is canon in the books. His first two initials are OZ, and the rest spell PINHEAD.
15:00 China Town is a town in one of the Oz books. I can't remember which.
China County is in the first book, Wonderful Wizard of Oz, which Dorothy, et al, encounter as they travel from Emerald City AFTER they expose Oz and need to seek Glinda, the Good Witch of the SOUTH (the MGM movie blended Glinda and the Good Witch of the North) to get Dorothy home. (The MGM movie also cut out the whole section after the Wizard leaves in his balloon and the adventure to get to Glinda.)
In the fourth book, Dorothy & the Wizard of Oz, Dorothy visits her cousin in California.
Thanks for reacting this,M.I.D,I was the one who requested this to you since I once watched it myself and it was good
Thanks for watching!!
@ my next movie request is a good one and it’s Happy Feet (2006) featuring Hugh Jackman as Memphis and Robin Williams (R.I.P to him) as Rámon and Lovelace then Brittney Murphy as Gloria (R.I.P to her as all before P!nk took the place to voice and sing as Gloria in Happy Feet Two)
I remember randomly seeing this in theaters when I was little lol
I don’t like the fact they kissed at the end. There were never any romance mentioned between Glinda and the wizard in the book or the 1939 movie or any other adaptation. I think Sam Raimi just wanted his Disney movie kiss
Fair!
@@MoviesinDepth he done it before with Spider-Man and other movies lol
3:16 Alrighty, get the Oz counter out 😂
Tooooo many to count
13:00 well you have to remember dorothie killed east when she arived so with south and west accounted for there should probably be a north
Ahhhhh
That's Glinda, remember?
From quora:
In the first book there are 4, possibly 5 if you count Gayelette.
The witches of the East and West, who were wicked and the Good witches, Glinda (south) and the Good Witch of the North who was unnamed.
Later books introduce Wicked Witches Mombi, Blinkie and her coven,
The Yookoohoos: Mrs. Yoop and Coo-ee-oh,
Krumbic: Reera the Red
The Adepts: Audah, Aujah and Aurah
There are also male witches, usually referred as Magicians or Wizards. Besides the Wizard of Oz there is Bini Aru, Dr. Pipt, Nikidik and Ugu
In the books there are four major witches of the four cardinal directors and in the sequels there are some other witches.
There was a cool television series based off The Wizard Of Oz called”Emerald City. It was an adult spin on the tale and it was good!
I LOVE THAT SERIES ITS ON AMAZON PRIME
13:01 In Baum Universe, yes, Ozma is the "witch" of the South, she is a good witch. As for Wicked, who knows.
I love How the Chinatown sign appears and disappears multiple times in that sign scene
20:44 She Turned to Hulk Witch!
28:44 Shooting Fireworks 🎆 Hilarious!
30:35 Oh Great Foot Pop Kiss
😂😂😂 legend
5:13 For those you may not realize, Annie says in this scene that she's marrying John 'Gale', who has the same last name as the main character of The Wizard of Oz, Dorothy Gale. This means she and John Gale are Dorothy's parents! But the sad part is they've probably died, so Oscar seeing Dorothy must have been a strange sight for him as Dorothy resembles Annie and has the same last name as John.
19:34 It was at that moment that she knew... 😂
She messed up lol
20:28 there are no apples in the sleeping beauty. I think you meant snow white 😊
I went back and forth on that so many times while recording lol
@ lol. It’s understandable my friend
Now you are only missing Return to Oz
But in my opinion, far and away the best.
Verrrry fair points!
10:09 (in MID's voice) Heyyy Cowardly Lion, how ya doing
Edit: I wasn't even paying attention to what he said 😂
HUH
I actually remember a temple run game surrounded by this movie.
You know it’s funny, I just rewatched this today and I remember seeing it back in theaters and few times here and there back then, but I did enjoy this on rewatch and I did not remember every single thing in this movie or even the final scene
23:47 BONK 😂
AYE
Literally was just looking for clips of this movie like right after you uploaded this!
Her pulling a little knife, XD
Love the reaction to Finley making animal noises. "A...COW?!"
Just love how the battle is done, them using tricks to defeat the witches.
I get chills every time as Evanora finally believes and says "He is the Wizard..."
Lol, love the gift Oz gives Nuk:
Nuk:I don't want that!"
Oz:"It is yours!"
Nuk:"TAKE IT BACK!"
Oz:"I cannot..."
There's something really weird about how in this movie, the Wicked Witch of the West and the Wizard were love interests while in Wicked...don't keep reading if you haven't seen the entire play.
They're father and daughter!
I like to think that his love interest cursed him in this movie and in wicked his “daughter” turn out like her 😂😂😂I’m just playing with the plot
31:50 You did a good review of this. I am definitely not into Wicked though. Take care.
You should watch Return to Oz! It’s about Dorothy and her being back in Kansas after being in Oz. It’s really good and also kinda creepy but really good
You can 100% tell Sam Rami made this movie.
And even though there we plans for a sequel, the new heads of disney didn't see it as worthwhile and just scrapped it
Karma.
12:45 Yes. 13:00 He kinda looks like Zac Efron. 20:30 Snow White has the poison apple. 20:32 I do hear Meg.
You’re a fun reACTOR. Keep it up champ. :)
Thank you so much!!
@ you’re absolutely welcome
Funny they didn't do the Kansas part in sepia.
"I can levitate, I can't [heal]."
Like these people don't know what a magic show is, even?
Can you see Billie Burke and Frank Morgan as a couple, though? ;)
Nice reaction.
Thissss is the lore I needed!
@@MoviesinDepth Oh, good!
I don't know if you've seen Return to Oz that came out in '80s and was sort of a sequel to The Wizard of Oz but was actually more just like a faithful adaptation of the books but it is the closest to the books which were pretty dark tbh.
i went to the cinemas to watch this when it came out and haven’t seen it since 😭
The forgotten gene continues with this movie looool
Having read the books it is very much not close to canonical... I mean maybe him getting there but he didn't know the witches beforehand and they didn't start all good and turn bad, like it was absolutely a prequel written to the movie as opposed to the books. I mean The Wizard of Oz was not the most faithful adaptation itself but... Like wicked is not technically canonical either but it could work within the framing of the books and the original Wizard of Oz where is this actively retcons a lot of stuff which is what annoyed me about it.
Amazing work
I'm coming in late but here's my timeline theory:
This movie is cannon in the movie verse, not book verse.
You should!! 😂
I Loved this when it came out. I remember thinking they would tie this in with some "Wicked" storyplots. I still love it regardless.
But you should really react to "The Wiz" (1978) w/ Diana Ross and Michael Jackson
That one is def on the list to watch eventually!!
I was absolutely terrified of the green hand in the trailer for this movie
It's so cool to see the development on the backstory!! Still have questions tho 😆 Also, where is everyone?!?! Like, lets get a convo started people 😊
Yesss
It is!
We're back in Oz!!!
We’re back!! To finish off wicked week!
My 2 favorite things of this movie are Danny Elfman's"Fireside Dance" 🎶 and tears burning Theodora's face which"explains"why she will later get melted by simple water. 17:52 - 18:04
02:35 - 02:45 True. In this case,the 1st you said.🥰👍 03:39 - 03:47 THAT'S WHO IT WAS!!!😱I thought that kid looked familiar!!! 07:07 - 07:08 Plot armor,I guess.🤷♂
08:11 - 08:13 I don't. The benefit of being Italian and watching every thing I can dubbed.😁 10:41 - 10:44 Nyes. 12:55 - 12:59 For some reason they always put 3:Glinda and the 2 Wicked Witches...the 2nd Good Witch is always forgotten!😢 16:24 - 16:34 I don't know in the original version, but to me in the Italian version it was _crystal clear from the 1st word she spoke_ that Evanora was _the_ Wicked Witch, which made every other character look VERY STUPID for not having figured it out yet!🤦♂ 19:04 - 19:05 🎶 20:17 - 20:23 Yes. #SorryNotSorry 🩸
21:59 - 22:00 Same thing I wondered.Guess they disappeared with the new makeover. 22:49 - 22:51 OK,on _that_ I disagree.👎 24:38 - 24:40 Fun fact: I recently learned from another video that in the original book this is _exactly_ what the Good Witch of the North(which is _not_ Glinda,Glinda is the one from the South!)does to Dorothy and the kiss is _actually_ a protection spell.Cute.🥰
I watched this movie when it came out on digital and watched I just low key thrusted over James Franco back in the day but didn’t really pay attention to the plot 😂
😂😂
I honestly thought that Rachel would be the wicked witch of the West, while Mila was just the poor "forgotten" witch that just got unalived off after finding out Rachel's secret.
Back when Oz The Great and Powerful first came out in theatres I Loved Elenora’s dress and I wanted one just like it!😅
Here's how I see it:
Oz the Great & Powerful is an unofficial prequel of the Wizard of Oz movie, so both these movies shared a cinematic universe.
Wicked the musical is a fanfic of The Life & Times of the Wicked Witch of the West novel which is a fanfic of the Wizard of Oz novel(like a Turducken?), so those three shared a universe but more like neighboring alternate universes since some things are changed between each other.
Love this
Not gonna lie, after seeing Wicked (both the stage production and the movie), Oz the Great and Powerful just doesn't hit as much. It's still a fun movie. Just kinda pales in comparison. Plus James Franco doesn't really help either. I still hold true to my opinion that Mila Kunis as the Wicked Witch of the West was the show stealer. Her voice could've used some work but her delivery and appearance I still really like.
I don’t know if you have seen it but I’m in school for MT and we are doing The Wiz if you wanted to stay in the realm of wizard of oz
I haven’t seen that one yet what so ever!
This was so good ❤excited to put Christmas decor out 🎄
YES! Christmas is here!!
The main downfall of this movie was the idiotic motivation they gave the Wicked Witch of the West. Also, putting romantic tension between Glinda and the Wizard. 🤢
But there were a lot of other aspects to this film I really loved.
Great movie reaction 👍
Thank you for watching!!!
This was very much Disney wanting to cash in on wicked’s success by making their own Oz prequel
you should also see Return to Oz and The Wiz and some of the animated ones
We need a reaction to The Wiz now, MID. it's only right 😂
One more Oz universe related movie you've got to do a reaction to - 1985's "Return to Oz"!
I love your videos
Thank you!!!
I have never seen this movie before thanks for reacting to it❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

@MoviesinDepth Your Welcome
If you have watched “The Wizard of Oz” You should watch/add “Tin Man” 2007 to your list.
This is the same story but, this movie is an alternate version.
With Zooey Deschanel, Alan Cumming, Neal McDonough, Kathleen Robertson.
This is radiant
I remember watching this movie in theatres I got jump scared at least 5 or 6 times 😂
21:09 Her name was never Elphaba.
31:09 Wicked is not cannon to the original novels by L Frank Baum (he wrote 14 in all)…Wicked is a revisionist look at the characters.
Thank you for this ozmazing reaction!! this is one way I can look at each adaption and story of the Wizard of Oz; it’s all about perspective. I like to think that the original Wizard of Oz movie is Dorothy’s perspective. Oz the Great and Powerful is Oscar a.k.a. the Wizard’s perspective. Wicked is Elphaba’s and Glinda‘s perspective. I would really love to see your reaction to Muppets the Wizard of Oz, Tom and Jerry and the Wizard of Oz,, Tom and Jerry: Back to Oz, and Dorothy and the Witches of Oz.

@@MoviesinDepth _Return to Oz_ with Fairuza Baulk, who goes on to be a witch herself in _The Craft,_ is worth a look. Liza Minnelli, Garland's daughter and a powerhouse talent in her own right (watch _Cabaret_ -- also features Joel Grey, who was the Wizard in _Wicked_ on stage), plays Dorothy in the animated special, _Journey Back to Oz._ I don't remember how good that was, but maybe worth a look too.

I guess you haven't heard about her (and Ashton Kutcher's) controversy. To be fair, there could be a reasonable explanation for it... but if that's true, they did a very bad job of explaining it.
Omg yesss this movie was my childhood
This is amazing

This is impressive
