- In June 2024 my husband Damien and I leave Montreal where we have lived for the last 9 years with our kids, to move to Nova Scotia.
After an intense period of organizing and packing for our own move (while helping and guiding two of our kids who are leaving the nest in this same season) we leave the city in a U-Haul and our car on a Friday afternoon in June.
This is the story of that drive and our first days at our new home in Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia.
Wanna know more about our move? See my first video in this playlist • Leaving Montreal & Mov...

My late Hubby and I drove from Ontario to Nova Scotia many years ago. I must say, the people from Nova Scotia were the nicest people I had ever met. Things have dramatically changed over the years, so I hope there are still some of the amazing people there. Moving is one of the top 5 stresses. Go with the flow.
Thanks for sharing your experience.
Hi Renee, I was born and partly raised in Liverpool Nova Scotia. We moved to Ontario when I was young, it never felt like home us. We moved back after 8 year and never looked back. I have lived in White Point for 30 years. I love it here. Lunenburg is a beautiful town, we visit ad never get tired of visiting the Bluenose. Welcome to Nova Scotia
Thanks for watching and thanks for saying hi! In 17 years of visiting NS I have not yet been to Liverpool! But I'm looking forward to visiting it. We love Five Girls bread, we can buy it at the local Fresh Cuts, but it would be great to get it right from the bakery in Liverpool. I also look forward to watching performances at the Astor Theatre. Thanks again for the welcome.
Welcome to Nova Scotia I just came across your channel this morning while drinking my coffee. I too live in Lunenburg County. And yes its beautiful here. My husband grew up in this area I came from the Peggy's Cove area. I have been here 33 years now. I am now 68 and have seen a lot of changes here over the years. But the beauty of the place never changes. WELCOME 🇨🇦⛵
Thanks for saying Hi & thanks for watching! You'll be seeing some of my favorite places in Lunenburg County, those I already know and those to be discovered on this channel.
I live in Montreal and was born in Halifax Nova Scotia as child I spent 2 summers in Lunenburg its so beautiful so is Halifax.
I was born in Alberta (lived some other places ) and then most recently lived in Montreal, for 9 years, and now I'm in Lunenburg county. Halifax is a great city, but having spent the last 9 years in a city I am thrilled to be "in the country", especially this countryside which has such great cultural happenings. I loved (& still love Montreal) but being here is a balm to my soul. Thanks for stopping by and commenting. I appreciate it. Keep cool in Montreal!
Welcome to Nova Scotia ! I live in the northern part overlooking the Cobequid Bay and I absolutely love it here.
I wish for both of you all the Joy and Blessings. God bless you.
Thank you!
I happened upon your channel today and enjoyed your video so much! I've always longed to visit your part of Canada. What a heavenly place...it certainly is magic. Beautiful house, too. I hope you've managed to settle in and feel more normal. All will be well. Thank you for sharing a bit of your life. Looking forward to more!
I can never have to much kitchen space 😂
Lovely home❤
I enjoyed this video while having my morning coffee. Thank you for the sharing. BTW I too overpay when I feel people are asking for less $ than they are worth. I so appreciate people's trades and how they enrich my life. My egg person is one of my best friends and I appreciate her work with her beautiful chickens!
Thanks for watching! (I just got an email from the egg sellers that they are increasing their price to $5/dozen.)
Looks like a beautiful area. I live in Maryland, USA, but had life coach from Canada.
I just came across your video. I live about an hour from you and was just in Lunenburg for an appointment yesterday. I have lived in Nova Scotia all my life and just love it here. Moving houses is no fun, but once it all comes together, I have found it relaxing being in a new space. Welcome home.
Thanks for saying hi! Lunenburg is such a fun town for errands and appointments.
We did the same thing & it’s not easy.. we moved 2200+km to NS in Jan 2021.. it’s definitely an adjustment, we moved with 2 of our children and 2 stayed behind. It’s a very “weird” feeling… even 2 1/2 yrs later for me it feels weird. We do love it out here though, it’s definitely a change of pace which we desperately needed. I think we’re probably similar in age, I understand how you’re feeling, 100%. I’ve subbed to your channel, will watch some back episodes as well.. hope you’re settling in well! ❤
Hello! Thanks for saying hi and subscribing. I really appreciate it. I can imagine the weird feeling you describe. Leaving our children to move elsewhere is a less common phenomena than the reverse situation. The summer has been delightful and I am adjusting well, which you'll see in the other videos I have here. I am loving the change of pace from city life :)
Hi Renee. I just happened to come upon your RUclips channel today. I enjoyed watching it. It looks like you're cherishing these new moments. How wonderful to be living on the same property as your parents!! It looks so beautiful there. I can relate to how you are feeling.. feeling out of sorts, up & down w/emotions. My husband & I moved from CA to Oregon yrs ago. We didn't know a soul but knew we had to get out of CA. It's been a blessing to be in a smaller town. The only thing that gets me sad at times is that my Dad still lives in CA. It's been an adjustment. Thank you for being "real" in the emotions you're going through as I'm sure it will help others. 😊 I am now subscribed to your channel. God bless you & your new chapter in your life!
BTW... we have that SAME picture of the man praying that you have walking into your front door 😊
Hi Carrie. I'm glad you happened upon my channel. Yay for the algorithm. I'm definitely cherishing all of this. Thank you for sharing your own moving story! And thanks for subscribing!
Found your channel today!! That is a big move but I think a good one. I live on the South Shore of NS and we come to Luneburg often because my hubby sees a Dr. there. I hope you have a wonderful summer and enjoy all that comes with living in N.S. !
I'm delighted you found my channel and choose to watch this video. Thank you! So far, we are having an amazing summer and I am loving my South Shore life.
This was so fun to watch. Your new home and the area is just gorgeous! I’m so happy you have a RUclips channel now, Rene, and am looking forward to following along on the journey. ❤️
Thank you Lisa. I can't wait to share all the stories.
Most Nova Scotians are still friendly. But... With all the people that moved here from away during COVID and since the locals can no longer afford property here. So some of them , especially the young adults with no housing outlook may be a little testy towards come from away people.
Some locals couldn’t afford it before Covid to be fair… the house we bought sat on the market for nearly 2 months before we put in an offer. Not being able to afford (nor find) housing is the same way clear across Canada, it’s not unique only to Nova Scotia…
Healthcare in NS and the east cost in general is awful... Good Luck!!
I'm aware. It's not great in Quebec either, where I've been living for 13 years.
It’s awful everywhere…
@@NobodySpecial509 Yeah I know but it worse out east.
