    I had a e46 m3 about a year an a half ago, I sold it and regret it 24/7. I’m going to look at a parts only title m3 this weekend after I attend a track day.
    It’s a very complete car but since it’s a parts only title I can’t register it. I’m really considering doing something like this. I’ve always wanted a wagon with a s54. I’m sure I’ll have a fair amount of questions in the future, you’ve earned my sub, keep up the good work!

      I don’t doubt you miss your M3. It’s the definition of perfection. This build was so fun and honestly, it was easy. Almost everything was plug and play.

    Honestly, really thinking of putting this engine in my E82. This would be really cool and it would be a upgrade from the N51

    Good information! Sounds like a reasonable project for those who have the skills.

    Edit: I should clarify. My goal is an S54 swap and M3 suspension swap.
    I'm in the planning stages of an S54 swap into my E46 ZHP sedan. One thing I've found is there's two schools of thought. One is buy a donor car. The other is piece it together.
    Personally, I think a swap like this depends on how old the patient car is, as well as the donor car.
    I've found that given the E46 chassis is 20-ish years old, many of the parts will need to be replaced anyway.
    For example. The front suspension. It just makes sense to buy the M3 knuckles and the calipers. Might as well get new bearings and hubs, dust shields, shocks, control arms, tie rods, and anti-swaybar endlinks.
    The major dilemma is I'd I piece it together by buying individual M3 parts, will the swap, rear subframe, diff, etc cost the same, if not more than a donor M3. Then the next question is will I be able to mess with tearing down the donor car and getting rid of it.

      The only way to do this is to find a donor M3. Find a wrecked or one that has been neglected. If you piece it together it can cost over 10-12k. Buy a donor. Sell your non-M engine, transmission, front and rear subframe, pedal box. Swap everything over, a tune and you’re up and running. Then sell off what parts of the M3 that are left over.

      @@TenzaMotorsports That's probably what I'll end up doing. For now, I'm slowly upgrading the suspension on my ZHP with new M3 parts.
      Everything in the front suspension needs to be replaced. Completely worn at 185K miles. I believe even the front lower control arms are original! Still have the Genuine "ZHP" stickers on them. Bearings, brakes, control arms, and shocks. I bought M3 front knuckles and brake calipers and am buying the rest new.

    What are your thoughts on swapping an S65 into the E46 M3. What do you think the cost would be?

    • @TenzaMotorsports
      @TenzaMotorsports  2 года назад +2

      If you’re going to do an engine swap. I wouldn’t do it into an M3. Swap it into a non-m coupe. Would save you about 10k. The best way to do any swap, is to buy a donor. and i would add about 5k as a buffer

      @@TenzaMotorsports I agree 100%. I don't get why people feel the need to ruin an M3 when they can use a non-M3 chassis. Just to say the chassis has an M3 VIN.

      @@andydhillon1977 only reason to get an M3, is to own an M3. If you’re gunna wide body, change out suspension, strip it out, or engine swap. Just find a clean non-m coupe. Then you can do whatever you want and not feel bad about it.
