I think u can turn him into an worldclass DM in liverpool with time. A lot of elite players didn't start there carriers in the position they have now! Fabinho was RB Van dijk was CF Trent was Cm. and Bale was LWB C.ronaldo was LM and the list goes on! Its good to be great in many positions, Gravenberch can learn the defense game with experience and his stature and overall frame is good with technique

Ideally yes, but personally i'll keep skeptical. He's got similar profile like Frenkie De Jong. I see him as ball carrier, box 2 box, not really true ball winning midfield #6 like Fabinho. But perharp Klopp and coaching team know how to fit Gravenberch into the team. But honestly, kinda disappointed not to sign Doucoure, he can do box 2 box and ball winning in the middle of the park, and already knew premier league too.
@@iamhimnDoucoure would´ve been a good option yeah, but Crystal Palace was demanding 80 mil, which is nowhere near fair for his experience and level of play. I´d rather take Gravenberch for half the price, he has a higher ceiling than Doucoure and a similar profile to Gini Wijnaldum
The thing is alot of those transitions still involved them using their best assets. Fabinho had a great engine anf tackling. Trent was great at passing so was allowed to do that at full back. Gravenberchs best qualities are his ball progression and dribbling it seems which wouldn't be used as a 6

10:22 - I think "two-footed" or "ambidextrous" would be better than "bipedal". "Two-footed" is common football parlance that means cross-dominant. "Bipedal" is generally used to mean "has two legs" and doesn't have that same connotation of cross-dominance, e.g. ostriches are bipedal.

There's not that much footage but his quality and potential is already evident imo
I want To say for his long passing, both ajax And bayern are traditionally both heavy possesion teams in their leagues so Its possible he was not encouraged To hit those long passes. It would be good see him at Liverpool hit those long passes To our forward line, especially since we encourage that type of pass in volume. Take van dijk for instance.
Liverpool just need midfielders that will run, Klopp requires his midfield to do a LOT of running and lets be honest, last year, Liverpool's midfield was very stagnant and it's legs were gone, Henderson and Milner should had been a bit part players, Wijnaldum was never replaced, Fabinho was never actually a guy to do a LOT of running, he was about positioning and power, he really needed those 2 midfielders around him to do a LOT of running, I would not be surprised if liverpool started playing 4222 with MacAllister and Gravenberch in a double pivot where it's you go or I go, Szoboszlai and Gakpo in front of them and Diaz and Salah on top. I think Liverpool might go back for a pivot player in January window or next year.

Great analysis - it's interesting why Liverpool have signed him because they're now relatively stacked in this number 8 role: Szobo, Alexis, Elliott, Thiago, Gakpo (where required) & Jones. I would've imagined they'd go for a fully-fledged number 6 because they presently only have Endo and Bajcetic there. Somebody like Aleix García or Martin Zubimendi would've been great options. In any case nice signing, hope he does well for them!

Another young midfield talent we are blessed with. For me he just needs game time so I will say he should leave Bayern and go to either Dotmurnd, AC Milan or Inter Milan. It is too soon for him to go to the premier league where it's so physical. But I see his best positions as a CM box to box and CDM double pivot like what Arsenal have. I believe in him because we have had great Dutch midfielders

He seems really raw and needs a lot of work to become the finished article. If United buy him and this also goes wrong, people will question why we’re going after Bayern rejects just bc they played under Ten Hag. I feel like we need more bodies in midfield so I’d be willing to take a risk on him but we have to get a suitable midfield partner for Casemiro or we’ll keep getting exposed every week. Amrabat and him with Mctominay leaving would be the dream rn

@@almino87someone who clearly understand the plan. People honestly believe we can play Szobo and Macca for 90mins every 60 games is deluded. That's the issue we were having with the last midfielders we have. We ran them into the ground without the backups to do so for two straight seasons.

I am expecting them to get one more 6 in january, a fullback and a centreback to. Very good job with the analysis congrats. Liverpool needs a player who can keep the ball and find spaces as Gini did. But in order to use him you must move Mac to a CDM. At the same time you have Jones who is very intense in terms of pressing but he has problems with small spaces. I can see why liverpool want him but the major problems are the CDM spot and a right CB. And Ryan cannot play as a CDM for sure.

There was one play where he could have made a very simple back pass and move to space to have it back, he had plenty of time but he forced an unnecessary play and lost the ball in a very dangerous position. He is indeed very raw. A Holding DM must not be too prideful and must have the awareness to utilize all your players around you in the tight spaces. You are not an all-action hero trying to dribble and turn players all the time. This position needs plenty of maturity and stability. When you try to think you are a Pogba, Gerrard, Vieira, Roy Keane then you are in trouble and the team is in trouble. You are equally important with your positioning and short simple passes, that's YOUR job. Like Roberto di Matteo, Aron Winter, Sergio Busquets. If they seem to be non-existent during the game, then they are probably doing their jobs well.

The problem with Gravenberch going to United is that he will go back to the coach who really is responsible for a fair amount of existing development which as you said is a bit undercooked. Everyone says that he has exceptional football IQ, pace and is soft footed. Every game that I've watch (mostly his 21 and 22 Champions League campaigns with Ajax) he was pretty underwhelming. He wasn't really in the game much and just ends up being a body with a touch here or there but not really providing much dynamism.
I think Klopp would be the better coach for him. Klopp clearly sees something in him as he has admired Gravenberch for quite some time.... I understand why Klopp would want Darwin Nunez because Nunez nearly single handedly ripped the Champions League away from Liverpool with Benfica in 21/22 before Liverpool were able to kill the game late in injury time. But Gravenberch didn't do much when he competed against Liverpool in 21/22. Klopp must see something because his admiration has persisted.
Too play in Klopp's team he would need to bring a lot more energy. I think at Ajax you could regularly see some skill, but he often faded away in matches. Never really brings that energy you'd hope for, at times he seemed to sort of be day dreaming on the pitch. Maybe Klopp could trigger him with his enthousiasm, i'd say the skill is there but needs someone to really drive him to give a little more during matches.

Seems like if he can up his concentration and give 100% he will be a top top player. a box to box midfielder.
If one study the way Mac plays you will notice that he is best at controlling the game and recycling possession meaning he is best at playing deep lying playmaker. Gavenberch is better suited for box to box in liverpool, bcus he has the height and ability to make key passes to strikers. With Gra. Darwin will have another channel of receiving through pass from the left which only comes from the right side in liverpool (Arnord or salah).
Grav will further unlock Darwin.
Though the 3 of grav mac and szo should be sufficient for small defensive minded teams while tougher opponents needs Baj Endo and szo

I really like your analyses. Gravenberch is a midfielder with great potential. Especially if he starts using that long passing ability more often, however I often find him a bit underwhelming. He is missing that FU mentality, which is why I think he will never be a top midfielder.

Seems to be signing to Liverpool, looks like he has been coasting and not realy pushing himself last couple of years.
Hopefully klopp can light a fire inside him and realy get him to push on and mature his game.

I'd say Wijnaldum is the wrong Dutch midfielder to compare him too. He's right now more a poor man's Frenkie de Jong, who's role he also replaced in the team at Ajax.
Similarly to Frenkie, he's a link up player. Can bring the ball forward with his carrying and ability to turn past an opponent. Also similarly to Frenkie he doesn't have the defense splitting passing or the best ball winning to be either the most attacking or defensive player in a midfield. Linking up play from defence to attack is what he can do, but he needs another creative player next to him to fill the gaps in his play (like how Frenkie needs Pedri at Barca).
He just left Ajax too soon, he wasn't a player that reliably performed there in the Dutch division so going to Bayern was never going to work (which many already noted when he made that decision). He's basically still just a talented youth player that needs the game time and experience to make the next step, so he definitely needs to leave Bayern ASAP.
I think the reason Liverpool didn’t go for a Paulinha and have gone for a graven is because Paulinha although incred defensively I don’t thing he is good when teams press him whilst graven might not be as good defensively atm is young and beat the press with his dribbling as a dm we will have to wait and see tho
