I was a senior in high school when this came out in 1972. Everyone was playing this song and the girls were just eating it up and laughing their buns off. My what a fun time we had back then. We took it all in with a grain of salt. What memories...Chuck sure gave us all one to remember. Priceless!
@@degsbabe My senior class of 1972 just had their 50th year reunion. Cannot believe 50 years have gone by. Thank goodness I was born in the 50's to be able to experience the birth of Rock & Roll, the British invasion of the 60's starting with the Beatles and the Rolling Stones. How the 60's ended with the grandest Rock & Roll festival 'Woodstock' back in (1969) ever!.What is not to like?
Man... What happened to America.. It's full of sensitive, men DRESSED as women, and women thinking they are a man, mentally unstable, WOKE liberal softies now!!! "MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN"
This was Chuck's first gold record. There's a long session where he teaches the audience to sing. The boys sing "Ding A Ling." The girls sing "I want you to play with my." You can hear it fairly clearly on this recording.
I remember when I was young and this song came out. We giggled at it. It's actually only a bit dirty in your mind. Listen to the first verse again. It explains what it is.
This was a very popular song. I had an album with this song but my grandmother heard the song and broke the album in half. So not everyone loved the song but it still makes me smile.
He did this when he came to my college Frostburg State in 1968. He blew us away. One of the best concerts I have ever been at. He was such a great song writer and performer. An original.-Never to be duplicated.
There's a longer version of this song that has him talking to the audience at the beginning and you will be laughing for a long time. You should check it out...Also check out his song"Reelin` and Rockin`",You will love it.
I saw Chuck perform this when I was 17 at a summer concert on Lake Erie in the resort town of Port Dover, Ontario Canada. It was quite a concert. Chuck was full of energy and fun. He would do this after the crowd was a bit more relaxed. Inuendo to the max. Cheers from Canada
I was just a little kid when this song came out in 1972, but I can remember it well and thought it was hilarious, which it is. The amazing thing about this song though is that I am really surprised it was played on the radio!😀
Big thumbs up! I knew you would love this and waiting for your reactions was so much fun! You two simply brighten my day! Mr. Berry was such an incredible artist to see him just having fun, what a performer he was, a gift.
Hay, you two, I just watched your video staring that crazy man, Chuck Berry. I am a sixty six year old grandmother now, but, when Chuck Berry released that song in 72, I was 16. We teens loved it, it was so funny, and of course the grownups was horrified. Lol! That song was censored back then, so I'm having a good time listening to it again. Ha ha ha, so much fun!
I remember we had this record at home. when my mam played it for us, we were so shocked cos it was rude But it was sooooo funnny. We used to sing it at school, so all the other kids would laugh. We'd get into trouble if the teachers heard us though.🤣🎶🤣🎤🤣🎼🤪
Growing up in the 80s, The Best Of The Best Of Chuck Berry was one of our road trip cassettes, my dad was a big fan. This was one of my favorites songs since I was like eight!
I remember this song when I was kid. Everyone thought it was hysterical. FYI- it’s a cover. Chuck Berry did not write this. It was originally recorded in the 50s by another artist.
When I was a little girl every time that song came on my mom with turn the radio up and tell me and my brother the same and she would laugh hysterically
I'm 70 now and saw Chuck Berry around 1969 or 1970 in Long Beach California. Me and a friend hitchiked there and panhandled the $2.00 to see him. It was a trip; he had alot of energy!
I was a high school freshman when this was popular. I was in the band and we rode a bus to ballgames with the cheerleaders. There were always sing-a-longs to and from the games and this was the most requested song to sing! hahahahaha
I've actually got this on an old '45... listened to it so much when I was a kid I'm surprised it still plays... but it does... and it's still just as funny!
Chuck covered this 50's song in1972, and I remember many radio stations banned the song. We young people still managed to find stations on which to hear it though, and it always made us laugh. Crazy that with everything Chuck did, this was his only #1 single. ...
I love Chuck Berry .... my uncle used to play his records all the time in the '60s .... but this song reminds me of my late Mum who loved this song especially because thry tried to ban it here - so she went & bought it!! Chuck Berry is an icon to me ..... loved your reaction guys :)
I was a sophomore when this song came out. It was constantly playing on the jukebox at the lunchtime hangout across from school. Ding-a-ling never fails to bring smiles and laughs. Thanks for the memories...
💕 H A P P Y N E W Y E A R !!! 2 0 2 2 💕 ⭐️ This song NEVER gets old. Seeing the live video for the first time today, made me laugh even harder than all of the times I’ve EVER heard the song, and I was twelve when this song came out!!! ⭐️ Loved your reactions, you made me laugh, even more, Shawn & Mel! 💕With much love always, ~ Laura💕⭐️ ❤️ 🥰❤️ S and M SQUAD IS THE BEST!!! ❤️🥰❤️
I was in my early twenties when this came out. Those were fun, enjoyable open and progressive days. Days when we could speak and express freely without fear. How the humaneness has been removed from human life is a total mystery to me. I am so happy that you enjoyed this, although with a touch of shyness and a sense of embarrassment. Thank you for sharing dears. For me, Chuck Berry will always be the godfather of rock and Sister Rosetta Tharpe the fairy godmother of rock. All music is wonderful, but I am blessed to have grown up in the most musically magical times. Greetings from India.
I couldn’t believe my ears when I heard it the first time: what a great comedian he was besides his outstanding music talent that I was aware of! It’s fucking hilarious
You guys are so great I haven't laughed this hard from a reaction and song in a long time. I forgot about this song loved it as a child but you better not be caught singing it.
Such a fun song! Ty guys! Happy New Year to ALL! 🤗💖🤗 PS if you get a chance watch the full version where he gives the audience instructions on how to participate! Hysterical!!!
The reason our Jukebox was taken out Back in '72-73 school year was because of this song and Schools Out By Alice Cooper. We played both songs so much the teachers and principals was taken aback. Such great memories . And your reactions to this song is precious
I've been enjoying your 'Reactions' quite often. I hadn't heard the Ding-a-ling song in forever. Still knew all verses to sing-along. I was laughing as hard as I used to 55+ years ago. 🎶 O's, say can you see... 🎶. I grew up west of Bmore. Saw Orioles games in Memorial Stadium. Thanks for being back lots of great memories.
My mother had the original album and us kids thought this was the most amazing song, ever! This man is legendary. He came to Tupelo, MS a while back. He was pretty old, but after the concert he headed straight out, he said he was too young to stay in a town that didn't party all night.
I think your reactions are fantastic. The look of shock on your faces hearing the line "my ding a ling" for the first time was priceless. There's an interview with Keith Richards who said that Chuck Berry punched him for touching his (Chuck's) guitar. Also, "Surfin' U.S.A." is credited to Chuck Berry & Brian Wilson.
Chuck is the man...
He didn’t say anything dirty. It’s all in “your” mind. 😄
Exactly,I remember this well we were all singing it
That's right!
Mel remembers that what it was called as a little girl!😂😂
This is comedy gold
Oh I forgot to tell this was in England and the Queen was in attendance.
Then she went home to play with Philip's ding-a-ling.
Bet the queen was the loudest my

This was in England! They had a great sense of humor. 😂
The man was a genius. He could sing and play the hell out of his guitar.
I remember when I was young and this song came out. We giggled at it. It's actually only a bit dirty in your mind. Listen to the first verse again. It explains what it is.

Australia 💕 Christina
I was heart broken when your grandmother broke the record in half.
That's how you knew it was a good record!
He did this when he came to my college Frostburg State in 1968. He blew us away. One of the best concerts I have ever been at. He was such a great song writer and performer. An original.-Never to be duplicated.

We used to sing this song on the school bus on the way to school every morning even the bus driver joined in, Love Chuck berry !
I wish you had gotten the video with the set up where he was teaching them their parts. It's so funny.
Sweet. See you on Friday the 13th.

Chuck Berry to cool man !
ABSOLUTELY LOVED your reaction to Chuck Berry's 'My Ding-a-ling'! Especially Shawn's!! Too funny!! You guys are great!
Just another example of his skill as a performer. This reconfirms the fact that music is suppose to bring joy.

Love Chuck Berry. So handsome with a twinkle in his eyes.
Fun fact or tragedy?
I owned this record and saw Mr. Berry in 73. Best concert. Had a blast. I am loving you two hearing this for the first time.
you know it sounds from the accents of the crowd that this was recorded in the UK.
Recorded at the locarno ballroom Coventry west Midlands England on 2 February 72 as part of the lanchester music festival
I remember this song when I was kid. Everyone thought it was hysterical. FYI- it’s a cover. Chuck Berry did not write this. It was originally recorded in the 50s by another artist.

Omg! I haven't heard this in years!!
Chuck Berry, the real King of rock and roll.
I saw Chuck Berry in concert at Madison Square Garden in the early 70's. It was a Dick Clark reunion concert with 10 other acts.
Thanks Chuck. This one’s a keeper. It was bleeped on the radio every time he sang ding a ling. Thank God we had him.
I taught my 7 year old grandson this song and he got in trouble singing it in school.

Chuck Berry is one of the greatest performers to ever live. He is one of the founding fathers of rock & roll.
You should check out the full 11 minute version
Chuck covered this 50's song in1972, and I remember many radio stations banned the song.

Crazy that with everything Chuck did, this was his only #1 single. ...

He explains at the start what his ding a ling is, so any innuendo is in the mind of the listener
My mother had the original album and us kids thought this was the most amazing song, ever!

I was in grade school in the 70s. We used to sing this at recess.
Y’all in for a treat!!!! Another good fun song is Wildwood Weed by Jim Stafford. 😂😂😂😂
Also Spider and Snakes and My Girl Bill.
Ah, the classics LOL! Another great reaction guys! Much love, keep them coming.
