I'm in a Floyd tribute and gotta say that playing Floyd drums is an absolute pleasure. Laying down a simple groove, then going into one of those classic Masonistic fills is pure fun.

Pink Floyd certainly isn't underrated, but I think Nick Mason is under appreciated.

How and what Nick played was an integral part of what made Pink Floyds music sound good. Underappreciated for sure. I remember having to play some Pink Floyd and laughing as my singer tells me, " Ok Nick Mason Quaalude beat" 😂😂😂

Really cool to see an analytical video on Nick Mason like this. I just got back into drumming very recently after not playing for about 10 years and a large part of that is because I discovered Pink Floyd! I aspire to play Like Mason, very melodic and tastefull!

The early era of Pink Floyd was the best. 1970 to 73 was peak Floyd. At least the live bootlegs I've heard are mind blowing. Check some of those out. Nick Mason is much more active during live shows. Cheers great vid.

I have always loved Nick Mason from the beginning. My dad says he is simple. But I love his style. Its so unique. I especially love his feeling for the groove and his slow fills. He is so methodic. His shining moment for me is the live version of Echoes from the Pompei movie.

I have been mesmerized by Nick since the early 70’s… got my first kit in 78. Him, Mitch Mitchell, and Stewart Copeland were 3 of my early idols… among so many great drummers I admired.
    I love what you’re doing.
You’re so comfortable in all signatures, and you’re really good at explaining cool shtuff.
    Keep on ratatat tatting
    I super enjoy.

Nick got his feel from interacting with keyboardist Rick Wright. It is impossible to imitate early Masonic playing w/o Wright...

Nick Mason's drumming is a lot like David Gilmour's guitar. It's not fast, nor flashy, and yet so complex.

You can tell the difference in a musician based on the way they describe Nick Mason and drummers like Phil Rudd.
    “Space” and “boring”
Are the difference between a musician and an elitist gatekeeper
