    I live in N.E Florida west of Jacksonville. I have 1/3 of an acre and grow a lot of vegetables. I have used dust and it worked ok. I just got the BT and I hope it will work better! Thanks for the advice. I will update you in a few weeks.

    Thanks for the great info. The label with instructions got wet and I could not read how much BT to mix with water. One tsp. per gallon . Now I know.

      Thank you Ethel for the comment. Glad the video was helpful. Something to keep in mind, if you know the product name and/manufacturer you usually can go on line and get a copy of the instructions from their website! Good luck to you!

    Thanks for the vid. I assume it needs to be re applied after a rain?

    • @Project-vo2un
      @Project-vo2un  Год назад

      Yes, if you get a heavy rain it will wash it away, We usually treat every 3 to 4 days during the pickle worm season whether it rains or not that way we can ensure we are getting as many of the caterpillars as possible.

    Today I discovered that all of my cucumber plants, as well as my cantaloupes are infected with pickle worms. Every single fruit had worm holes. Are they all too far gone at this point? I threw the infested fruits in the compost bin. Should I have killed the worms first? If I pull them out and soak the infested fruits in the bt solution, will that kill them? This is the first year growing these types of plants. Any advice is appreciated!

      Hello, sorry for the long delay, life got in the way of working our property with taking care of older parents and multiple hurricanes and flooding on the property, Finally getting back to checking on our channel. Unfortunately, one the pickle worm attacks the fruit there is not much you can do to salvage it other then cutting off the bad part and saving what they haven't infested. Once the pickle worm gets in the fruit many times it becomes chicken feed. We have found that starting to use the Bt early in the growing season is the best method to get the most out of the crop.

    Is there any point in the season you can stop spraying the BT, or do you just continue until the crop is done?

    • @rasonjason4066
      @rasonjason4066 5 лет назад +1

      I see the worms until the season is over. So I'd spray until the end. I just started this in my garden. Did you try it last year?

    I dont know what to do. I did a tester of new grass seed (expensive) and i found catipillars eating away and killing grass. Now i have to overseed tomorrow and dont know what else to do. Feels like im about to waist 2,000 on my lawn due to freaking catipillars. Cant apply every 7 days when you cant walk on lawn ya know!

    How often do you apply the bt?

    • @Project-vo2un
      @Project-vo2un  6 лет назад +1

      Hi Keith, if I have an active infestation at least I apply about every 3-4 days and as preventive when the season for the pickle worm becomes active I go once a week. Hope that helps!

    • @Project-vo2un
      @Project-vo2un  6 лет назад +2

      Hi Jamie - with the product we were using the directions called for 1 teaspoon or 5 milliliters per gallon. You need to read the label since different BT products may have different dosage instructions. Thanks!

    • @keepitsimple8627
      @keepitsimple8627 6 лет назад +1

      Sorry about that, the one you mixed looks like the Garden safe brand with the purple cap that we use. My mistake, thanks for the video

    • @Project-vo2un
      @Project-vo2un  6 лет назад +1

      No problem - I have several different bottles that all have different instructions for dosage, some that give you different amounts for ornamentals or vegetables - that's why I just say read the label since I can never remember which one is which.
