- Limerick is a city in the Mid-West of Ireland along the River Shannon. The city has strong ties to medieval history of the country.
We arrive at the train/bus station and start our walk on a windy afternoon. First we check out Tait's Clock and then the nearby Hyde Road Park. The city centre is a bit north so we walk there on O'Connell St passing a few churches along the way.
Soon we make it to the Shannon river and see a dockers monument of two workers there. We continue a bit on the Harveys Quay Boardwalk before we head into the inner city with a shopping area. The 13th-century King John’s Castle can already be spotted. Before we head there we make a round to the Milk Market, which is already closed.
We head down to the river again through Arthur's Quay Park and and get to the medieval-era St. Mary’s Cathedral and St. John’s square.
Now we are getting closer to the King John’s Castle that we see a bit of it from the outside. We aren't done yet on King's island even though the weather gets more windy and rainy. We also check the area, see ancient walls from medieval times. When the rain gets a bit too heavy we finish our walk at Saint Mary's church.
Note: Audio was processed due to lots of wind noise

I grew up in limerick left a few years ago brought back great memories Thank you loved this walk
I stayed in Limerick for nearly one year and a half. It's a wonderful city with countless cool folks and interesting places to hang out. Don't, of course, forget to visit the University of Limerick and the pubs in the downtown area. Angel lane, Doolan's, Molly's, Nancy's, Smyth's, etc are some of the famous pubs out there for tgif party. Xxxx

Wow, thanks again for so many details. I had no idea when I was there. The last time, 10 years ago in Limerick I came from Doolin (recommended village) and was also on my way to Cork. It was a good decision to stop for a few hours this time, even though I got very wet from the rain in the end. Better always have an umbrella.. The city was larger than expected. It was a good day
Wow, fair play, I'm from Limerick and I live here and they're all fairly accurate descriptions
Brilliant walking tour and video; really cool city, Limerick!!
wow so nice walking! 👍
Those kids at 7 minutes, can't stop laughing 😂
Amazing! I stayed at Perrys Best Western while visiting Limerick with my mom many years ago. The people are so friendly. I just loved it there. We did most of our touring by walking, which I find is better as you don't miss as much as when in a vehicle. My only fear, was getting hit by a car, as the Irish drive on the other side of the road, and I always looked the wrong way first. I'd love to return. Thank you so much for sharing this, and the memories of some of the places you've shown me, that I saw. We did do some touring through the country also. I loved Adair, Kilarney, and yes, I kissed the Blarney Stone! Fabulous country!
Grew up in in Limerick , looking good .
Great job. Perfect. 😍
Limericks has cleaned up a lot , grew up there ,was glad to leave.Nice to see the changes.
Pity St.Marys Cathedral was closed. It’s magic inside. You were also only a few hundred yards from the Treaty Stone. The video started across the road from my late fathers chemist shop and finished at my parish church, in “The Parish” , probably the most known in world rugby. Thanks for the memories.
Прекрасный город. Спасибо. ( Beautiful city. Thanks.)
no problem budday
So clean!
Limerick is actually in the Mid-West of Ireland; pity you didn't continue to walk over Sarsfield Bridge and walk down towards King Johns Castle and the Treaty Stone. A good Video all the same well done.
Thank you! I correct the text: Limerick in the mid-west of Ireland. I didn't know my way around Limerick as I came from Galway and continued to Cork the same day. I nice place that I hope to return sometime. I was happy that I managed to finish the walk in time before the rain shower and my bus. 😎Thanks for watching!
Ótimo conteúdo! Obrigado...
Love your intro sounds!! 46:55 great!
Hey, Relax.....What sounds are you hearing, that I missed at 46:55. Are you sure this is correct timestamp? I hear wind, birds, clicks of camera by Daniel of St. Mary’s Cathedral by Graveyard.
@@BrigitteCoffman I would assume they are referring to the visuals. The sound they are referring to is the intro, where one teenager threatens to chop another's dick off in the first few seconds. Hope this helps.
We played cowboys and Indians in the sixtys in the park that's when limerick was great not like to day its all gone
the best channel ever.
Thanks a lot.
Buetifull 🚶 walk
My hometown 🥰
Amazing video
To be honest i'm considering studying at Limerick thanks to Erasmus program currently, your video perceived me about this location's heavy quality, hugely thanks for that 🙌
Bravo ✌️✌️
In your next video may I suggest you film the Curraghgour Boatclub at Merchants Quay . It’s a beautiful place with an amazing view of the Shannon . It’s also full of intriguing history .
I’m the PRO for the club and you can pm me to have a look around . Conor Sheehan
Very nice place 🇮🇪
Welcome to more Asia video 😊👍
É uma cidade sambari love. Dá pra morar uns 2 anos.
Soundtrack with descriptions would make this great.
Yes, some closed captioning could be nice here. At the moment with 3 uploads / week there isn't enough time to do enhanced versions. When the channel grows 10x I probably can afford to hire someone to put in additional infos. I'm also hoping that Google allows multiple audio tracks so commentary can be added while preserving the original audio. Thanks for watching!

This my city
Rest easy , queen of Limerick
Hopefully in sa Allah one day I'll be there
Is limerick a safe city? Why people call it the stab city? 😅 I need to know because I am relocating for a job but I want to be prepared
Limerick got that nickname decades ago when there was some gang violence there at a time when that was an uncommon thing in Ireland. It's a lot quieter these days and Limerick people are very friendly.
Where Martin O’Brien is from. God Bless!
I see something weird and wonder what it is. I've figured it out ... it's a sunny day!!(on a scenic but also a so-so town).
Limerick is a way nicer city than hyped-up Galway. Lots more to do and see too.
I also like Limerick. Somehow accommodation options in Limerick were way more limited and pricey than in Galway so I stopped in Limerick this time for the video only and continued to Cork later that day...
The great thing about Ireland is that everything is relatively close by. You only need to seed few hours on the bus and train to reach another place
@poptravel You need to come back to Europe’s Biggest/Largest City ISTANBUL Megacity and do a Video.
Yeah, ha. 😎 There are 3 more Istanbul videos coming from that one trip in July/August

There’s no such thing as “Southern Ireland” as in the description, it’s Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland...even if you meant geographically in south, Limerick is in the west of Ireland
I changed it to "southwest of Ireland" to avoid misunderstandings. Southern wasn't written with a capital "s" actually. Thanks for the hint on a possible issue
Limerick is Mid West
Mid West
Bres - “It is hereby declared that the description of the State shall be the Republic of Ireland” - Republic of Ireland Act 1948. I acknowledge that the Constitution uses the two names. I was, however, describing the country and the person making the video was doing the same so either is, in my view, appropriate.
Bres - As the then Taoiseach, John Costello, stated in the Dáil during the 1949 act’s debate “If I say that my name is Costello and that my description is that of senior counsel, I think that will be clear to anybody who wants to know”. It may also be of relevance to note that documents from state organisations (e.g. Revenue and various Government departments) utilise the Republic of Ireland in their official address.
Again, I merely stated it as a disambiguation between the Island, Northern Ireland and Ireland, as is both allowed for by law and within everyday phrasing. Hope this clears it up!
Hello Frank McCourt

Wish Ireland would rejoin the UK. There is so much more that unites us than divides us.
Very Funny
@@horsewhisperer2614 Just the truth. Only thing separating us is prejudice.
@@asdf1991asdf We speak the same language, have virtually the same culture and were together for hundreds of years.

veronicadredd22 Yes, we have other languages in the rest of the U.K. too, silly. And like here, most people in Ireland just speak English :-P
Boring
I went through Limerick in 1984. It was a dirty, grubby shit hole with religious statues in every front yard.
