Unusually we travel to the city of Limerick and move away from the Atlantic Way. The city has a lot to offer and is dissected by the might River Shannon that is swollen and in full flow. King John's castle turns into another great multi media experience and plots the history of the city so well. However, Jane challenges me on the validity of the 3 Bridges tour !!

Many thanks for this video. I studied at the University of Limerick in 1991 as an American exchange student from New Jersey. At the time, King John's castle had just reopened after renovation that October and St. Mary's Cathedral was undergoing renovation. The new town hall had just opened. I was there for the 300th anniversary of the Treaty of Limerick. You brought back fond memories and it was strange to see how things have changed. There were no interactive displays at the castle and it was before the European Union, so I was carrying around Irish pound coins. The painted posts you showed were all painted green at the time.
The funny thing is, during my first full day in Limerick, a nice Irish couple stopped me on the Thomond Bridge to ask me for directions. I had to say, in my American accent, "I'm sorry, but I barely know where I am". It didn't take them long to figure out that they asked the wrong person.

@@getawaygeese By the way....instead of stopping at McDonalds, Limerick has a very nice Chinese restaurant. I was dating a girl from Germany at the time, and the restaurant was very good. So yes, I was an American, dating a girl from Germany and took her to a Chinese restaurant. It was so international.

@@getawaygeese Thanks for explaining and yes I understand 100% why you might be hesitant. Its like when Hotels or the like ask me for my passport when I'm abroad and in some countries they think it perfectly normal to hold on to your passport. Not mine my friend. My passport is me and there is no way that I'm surrendering me or my passport to anyone.
I have never heard of that process before and like you would have been reticent to give them my card. To be honest, I think I would have told them no way.
However...... as you probably have realised already in Ireland we are not fools for rules and in general are quite flexible and cool with rules. With a modicum of cop on, you can trust most vendors here. TBH... in Ireland we don't scam people and trust is an integral part of our society. I feel so embarrassed and really rather stupid! Having watched your trailer from earlier today, I thought that ‘person from the past’ was Stew, hence the comment! You must have wondered what planet I was on! I’m so sorry. 🥺🫣 Brilliant vlog as always, thanks guys. 🙏💞

Lol I just had to go back a read the Instagram post and I never once thought you thought it was me - but now you mention it Jane says my fashion sense is a little out there 😂
Thanks for watching and making me laugh
