    The odd thing is that I did the 72 vega Grumpys Toy a few months ago which is an MPC kit and I found it to be excellent quality.....

    I think you actually did a nice job working with what MPC issues as a kit!!

    I think this kit first came out as a Airfix and had a option of a mid engine dragster.My 90s MPC issue you can see the marks on the top side of the base where the set back dragster engine would go and also the set back single dragster seat base by the rear wheel tub.

    I don't recall any warping with mine of course mine was the version that came out a few years ago... Maybe the molds are wore out??

    The kit is crap but if you work with it it will look good. Looks like you did a good job with it despite its shortcomings.

    I've literally just watched hpiguys workshop build this. He said he had a great time building it, and turned out really nice. Certainly didn't have the roof warpage. I would have returned that rather than wasting time fixing it.

    Reminds me when I was a kid (late 1960’s) and I built a “My mother the car kit”. Me and my friends cherry bombed it. It disappeared instantly.

    Not the worst kit in the world but it's far from perfect... I did the regular MPC 67 GTO and it came out decent but one of the valve covers were deformed...

    I think with MPC kits they are for the most part easier to build but you sacrifice details for ease of the build....

    Wow, that body was Warp-Ed! You did an amazing job fixing it. My body was in much better shape. Parts were flashy like yours. I liked the redline tires until I noticed three of mine were printed off center. The front grill/bumper fit is a joke. Looks like I had picked the wrong kit to get me back into building model cars. Mine went back in the box about half way through the build. I was losing my will to live.

    I only bought it to modify the Revell 66 GTO to a 67 with the backpart!And yes its sh.t!like the General Lee,and the 70s GTO!Why you didnt ask MPC/Round2 for a new body??Do they have any quality control???If i had problems with Revell kits(not many)Revell allways had no problems sending me a new part!For no money!With the flash on that kit you could make another kit!🤣

    I agree to a certain extent it is labeled as mpc but is actually released by round two and I think that all of their molding is done in China witch in lies the problem with a lack of quality control checks and round two most likely does not know about the problem although I have had a problem with almost all MPC kits that I have bought great video thank you for sharing all the info

    MPC would have sent you a new body. All you needed to do was show them a photo of the bad body.

  • @maxbrandt6

    Great, I recently bought this kit thinking it won't be that bad despite its age but sadly I am wrong. Maybe I should have gotten the Revell offering of the '67 Pontiac GTO.

    I don't understand why you ran over it but whatever sorry that you got a bad body and I hope that you got in contact with Round 2 to get another one. I have one that I started a year or so ago I used a 65 GTO engine it's much bigger looks more proper in the engine bay area I put custom wheels on it but I haven't finished it yet

    Im a new sub here, this is the first time I saw your video and I like it. About that GTO kit you're doing, its a real shock to see the quality of it nowadays! Blame it on China!!!! I have a 90s issue of this kit and its a bit better but I don't have the great tires and decal sheet you have. Also, there were no bosses to attach the chassis to the body meaning you have to dump a bit of glue under the interior dish so that the chassis will adhere to. I dunno, its a toss up between our kits. In 1967 when it first came out from MPC, it was a good kit needless to say. Did you say Utah youtube doesn't pay you yet? Is that where you live? If so,were so close cuz that's where I live. Being a new sub, I look forward to your future videos! Thanks for this GTO review and build

  • @jeffnewhart491
    @jeffnewhart491 2 года назад

    Cut one up to make a convertible. I destroyed my Mom's promo of her 67 gto vert as a kid. To my advantage, the interior tub IS the promo convertible tub. And yes it was an absolute nightmare kit! Nothing fits right. Just when you think you got everything pre fitted, you find more garbage fitting parts.

    I got this kit and it is CRAP ! It's in a different box but is bad. It came with a v six motor but the six cylinder motor was available in the Tempest and Lemans plus the v q6 motor available

    • @johnc2292
      @johnc2292 2 года назад

      Oops! The six cylinder motor that Pontiac used was an in line six. They also included chrome headers for a very 8. Wrapping it up tomorrow and sending it to them with a note letting them know what I think of it.

    Some of these kits are long overdue for new tooling , there's no reason for companies to re release these horrid old kits it just lazy..
    I'm sorry this one turned out to be a shit storm for you , great attempt though..
    As they say ,If you can't polish a turd , roll it in glitter.
