When I was 17 I gave up in becoming a DJ becuse I coudn’t afford record players, records etc...Now I see this genious guy and I think that a creative mind if seriously motivated can find a way to fulfill his dream. Respect !
@ today, molstly every equipment can be found at cheap price as per dj softwares and liquid music....but I lost motivation that it is the most important thing...
From its earliest beginnings, hip Hop, and turntable ism has always been about making something out of nothing. When I first started djing, I used CD players. Compact CD players. I pre-planned everything that I was going to play, and measured out the bpms in advance so I would know what song would blend with the next.
and to think I gave away my 300+ cassette collection, simply because I couldn't find a decent player that didn't eat tapes. 10 years ago. Very Nice Set Up.
This music is completely unfamiliar to me but it's just what I needed to hear today!!! Thanks for making this. I'm surprised this is coming off of cassettes, it sounds great.
Be cool to see VHS video with pitch control and with auto cue rewind or fast forward. Some say been already out years ago in video stations. I haven’t see any yet lol.
Back then I started djing with a very modest two deck radiocassete player out of a need to mix some music by any means. I did bpm sync with two cassette that were bpm close if you slow down the faster one by pressing very gently the thumb fingertip against the rotating shaft. Sounds weird but I even try to make some (really bad..) mixtapes with this method. It was very very expensive to buy the standard dj gear at that time but I learn a lot by doing this cheap mixing. Your dj set and your equipment are so cool. I'm amazed...congratulations!!
Wow. I can't believe my eyes. Cassettes were so unreliable back in the day. They would work great for a while then start to develop sound quality issues or just break and the tape come spilling out all over the place. I started DJing in 1988 with cassettes. I had a tape deck that allowed the play head to make contact when fast forwarding or rewinding so you could hear to "cue" the track with headphones on my Realistic Stereo Mixer, you know the one, not rack mountable with 3 mic pots on it, we all had one of these mixers in the beginning. I got my first CD player in 1990 when I graduated high school and up and up as technology improved...
WHAT. In the actual fuck. DAMN dude. I thought me and my homie's broke asses were the only ones that ever attempted mixing cassette tapes (course we never built custom equipment). Mad props bro. Mad props. Not to mention shit sounds pretty clean to be analog tape. Digging the track selection as well. Mind. Blown. 🤯
Lo veo,...y no lo creo! Mezclé con casette, 80's, contando los ritmos con reloj y anotando en un papel mi programación, pero esto...es super!! 👏👏👏👏👏👏 👍👍🇨🇱 I see it and do not believe it! I mixed with a casette, 80's, counting the rhythms with a clock and writing down my programming on a piece of paper, but this...is super.
I'd love to know more about this project of his, from his decks to his mixer,, maybe one day someone will buy a unit from him and review it. It's fascinating to see these sort of things made, especially taking into consideration that this can open up a brand new era of crate digging. A lot of music was only released on cassette, especially from more indie producers and musicians because tape was (and still is) cheaper than vinyl. Can someone get in touch with ooedotechnica and get a more in-depth view of his equipment?
Simply Amazing 🤩 I’m an “Oldschool” DJ, I used to mix with cassettes, that’s right. Seeing this with my own eyes is mind blowing 🤯 Amazing skills, song selection and equipment. All my respect 🫡 mi Amigo 👊🏼
My old Sanyo stereo would play two tapes at once out the speakers, had no concept of mixing but sometimes it sounded great. O wow you’re scratching 😳! Luv mad stuff like this man 😁✌️❤️
Damn similar idea I had for a cassette mechanism in the 1990’s. However CD and MP3 came in so I gave up on the project. Still have the CAD files though.
amazing set up, and great choice of tracks! I have one question though: I don't get how you transition at 5:08, is the video not matched with the sound?
da bin ich direkt wieder 13 und renn mit sprühdosen bewaffnet durch die brandheiße sonne .. das dj setup is doch marke eigenbau 😁 ich bin mir sicher das wäre hier ein verkaufsschlager 😊✌
@Pete Testube Cd is digital. Audio is superior. Cd mixers already exist. I mean mixing CDs can be as skillful as mixing cassettes, with basic dj cd players. Mixing tapes is also cool, but would be even cooler with regular cassette decks without a pitch control, selecting similar bpm music. And using better cueing instead. The echo out effect basically means this kind of mixing would sound similar in the end. Cheers.

Me too...😓
A man with a why can find almost any how
The production value of this entire video is top-notch.

@David Mander Ahhhh I see, we have a purist 🙄. You can always tell how long someone's been in the game for when they start knocking the medium.

If you had to DJ a set at a mall in the early 2000's this is what it would sound like.
Damn similar idea I had for a cassette mechanism in the 1990’s. However CD and MP3 came in so I gave up on the project. Still have the CAD files though.

Cool mix ! Where do you get all these tapes from? It's a huge collection!
Wanna try and mix something? It's a neat format but what are you doing beyond filtering out a track and pressing play on the second one.
seems strange using cassette, when you could used cd instead? But great mix. How did u make the cassette machine? How much are they? cheers
