"There's plenty to eagerly anticipate before then." As someone who personally doesn't care for all the non-canon or tertiary media, can't say I agree on that point.
Someone noticed that Disney + didn't share the trailer for the 60th Anniversary, so it may look like their input is starting with Season 14. And that makes me think that the Anniversary Mini-series could work as sort of send off/ending for the New Who run and the 13 seasons that came before and season 14 would be a completely fresh start, without baggage with everything being introduced anew via the eyes of the new Companion.
David tennant is my doctor. tenth doctor is lonely and aggressive, sometimes a little bit darkness. This is the perfect doctor character, and of course he is good looking 😍
You are wrong about bringing back David Tennant. RT has produced a masterstroke. The garbage that has been Dr Who for the last couple of years is thankfully over. RT is the man to bring back credibility to the show.
I'm kinda worried that it'll just get tiring waiting for the specials until november after the trailers this early. Like we might end up going into those specials already tired of waiting for them rather than with excitement.
I feel as though it would be better to do a similar thing to 2009, with a special at Easter then summer special (even though in 2009 it was delayed) and then a final big special on the anniversary. That way round we can all theorise between specials.
I really feel that criticism of it being referential is kind of moot until it actually releases. A story relying on it's past is not inherently a bad thing.
I just wished they made it more linked to the other two specials. Maybe the daleks have escaped the time vortex by taking advantage of the flux and are trying to repair themselves. Just something to link it with the other Dalek specials
Not to make a big deal of it as I know you did give a warning at the start, but if you're going to refer to spoilers from leaks, it might be a good idea to make that explicit in your warning. A lot of video makers will give spoiler warnings just for speculation or news that's been officially announced, so it can be helpful to indicate what level of spoiler you're including. Sad my efforts to avoid the new TARDIS interior have come to an end, but very glad about how it looks!
I'm sorry but i'd disagree, if he states there's spoilers - there's spoilers! If you dont want to get spoiled then you miss out on the video, it's pretty simple and easy to most people.
@@galaxyskate9585 It'd take seconds at most to say 'spoilers including leaks' and that way viewers can make a more informed decision and so not skip a video they would have enjoyed just because it MIGHT have had information they didn't want to hear in it. What's the detriment of giving that information? 'Spoilers' means different things to different people, clarity is never harmful.
I don't see how it's a risk in any way, shape or form to "sideline" Gatwa for Tennant. I see only total benefit. Bringing Tennant back reminds people that Doctor Who is actually back and that the series masquerading as Doctor Who for the last 5 years that people had given up on is gone. If you are Davies do you want your new Doctor to follow on from the dross of Chibnall and Whittaker or a celebration around 60 years and Tennant? The ratings stunt of Tennant's return for specials leading into Gatwa's debut is an all around win.
My guess is that RTD is going for nostalgic heavy specials to play with the themes of past vs future so it works well as a bridge, like you said in the video.
bringing tennant back as the new 14th doctor for multiple episodes before jumping over to gatwa as the 15th is perfect. it allows rtd to (somewhat) continue on from where he left off. also here's hoping that the toymaker has actually been playing with the doctor since the end of capaldi's run, and the whittaker nonsense was pretty much just an awful fever dream.
She’s canon, whether you like her or not. RTD is mates with Chibnall, not enemies. So he’s not going to retcon his friends work and Russell likes 13 & The Timeless Child.
@@tokublwhovian Thank you I really don't understand the hate people have for this era. Sure it had it's flaws but really it was okay, and 13 was good. Makes me sad for all the people who put their soul into this era to see this hate, people shitting over their work. Also it is going to be fun because a lot of people hate Chibs for his messaging but they are going to cry with Russel 2, it will be very different from RTD1
@@tokublwhovian What's also canon whether you like it or not is that the Doctor isn't a pacifist coward and was not the Victimized Brainwiped Child until Chibnall's Doctor and won't be afterwards. How you are going to reconcile between all the Doctors before Whittaker and all the Doctors afterward is up to you to decide. How they go from being brilliant to being an idiot then brilliant again is not going to be addressed. Chibnall made a point to say that everything before him is a lie which is the actual lie. Chibnall himself said he thinks Davies will completely ignore everything he's done. Hardly a surprise. You don't care about ratings or fans but the BBC do and Bad Wolf who needs this thing to generate both and make money certainly do. Davies isn't going to say what he really thinks about anything because there is no point to it. He knows that the Timeless Child divided fans and chased off the audience as well as being a terrible story. If you are Davies why would you spend any time to explain away something that makes no sense with anything that he is going to do?
This is a trick question! It will be their biggest year because 2023 is the biggest number! Haha! (But yes I’m totally stoked for next year and all the specials coming)
Everything about 13 just felt like a weak tribute act to 10 I feel sorry for the cast; Jodie, Mandip, Tosin, Bradley, John, and Jacob are all great and I would have loved to see them in some good Dr Who stories
Down below are my predictions on why David is back, but as the 14th Doctor. If you don’t want to get spoilers, then don’t read it. I truly believe that Neil is the Toymaker, and is responsible for the Doctor having an old face. But this is my theory on why Donna is back. I think the Toymaker did a spell on her, that if she saw the Doctor again she won’t die. And the only way the spell can be broken, is if the Toymaker is defeated, and then Donna dies from remembering the Doctor. If he dies, then she dies. The Toymaker wants Donna to be reunited with the Doctor, but with the old face. But at the same time messing with the Doctors appearance, wasting regeneration. Causing so much havoc at once. Maybe Rose Temple might be connected to the DoctorDonna. So you know how Ncuti is asking what the hell is going on? That shot with the clouds isn’t real, obviously it’s a green screen but Russell says it’s a “secret scene”, so I’m thinking Ncuti is meeting the other Doctors, or Ncuti is trapped in this realm or mystic shit and the Toymaker is taunting him. Also I know I’m jumping ahead, before David regenerating/de-regenerating into Ncuti, what if this was his last line: “I want to go…”
I never ended up watching Capaldi's last season as the Doctor. I've also heard that Jodie Whitaker's Doctor was not that good, so I didn't really want to watch it. However, about a month ago I found out that David Tennant was coming back and that got me excited for Doctor Who for the first time since 2015. Since then, I've recently been binging some of your videos and am really excited for what is to come. I can confidently say that I probably wouldn't have regained much interest in the show had I not accidentally found out that Tennant was coming back as the Doctor. It was a big wtf question that I just had to look into. Had I seen only news of a new Doctor in Ncuti Gatwa, I probably wouldn't have had much interest in the new series, but now I am very excited for what's to come. Probably not going to watch 13's series' though.
This may not add to any comments there on here because I haven’t read any, but I do agree that David Tennant coming back as the doctor has indeed disappointed me as I didn’t really rate him as a doctor in the first place. If I’m honest I would rather it had been Christopher Eccleston if any had to come back or even giving Paul McGann his facial at the tardis as he only had one episode I like David Tennant as an actor but he’s had his time and I disagree with him coming back. However I’m looking forward to the series to see what happens to bring in the 15th doctor, although admittedly, I actually enjoyed Jodie Whitaker as the doctor, but didn’t enjoy the wrong routine because it was just terrible in my opinion, but she did a brilliant job, making the best of a bad situation again it’s just my opinion
Imagine if RTD had done the specials with Thirteen instead of a Ten in all but name: it could’ve been great! I so hope that RTD will do more than nostalgia because that would shit on Thirteen, the first female Doctor, even more! I hope RTD does something like The Matrix Resurrections and deconstruct the theme of nostalgia, make us think about wanting the past back (especially for those who want it back because it featured a cishet white dude).
It's a double edged sword, it holds the series hostage behind a paywall for those outside the UK while also making it a bit more accessible in some other countries that had it through random streaming services/cable packages, but the budget increase will do absolute wonders for the production quality of the show

Interesting and an enjoyable post. Just to nitpick but one can't actually 'reflect' (as was said) on the future as it hasn't happened yet. I thought the balance of reservation and hope for the future was well argued. The pain I feel every time I even see any footage of Chibnall's era still now fills me with emotions ranging from disappointment to anger. I no longer believe he deserves any sympathy any more. He wrecked the show alongside half the universe (Flux!) and then tossing it aside, walked away. Such behaviours are not one of those who has remorse or even regrets. A little bugbear, as I like Ten, but seriously it is as if any other incarnation is inferior to his portrayal and I along with many prefer 11 and 12. If Dr Ten was a song he would be number one on Top of the Pops. Very popular, bouncy and all that. Whereas twelve would barely dent the the top fifty but those with a musical background would see him (with this analogy of a song) as being far underrated yet a treasure that only those in the know got and appreciated. Capaldi and Smith were like the Ying and Yang. In my childish and idealistic mind I see 11 and 12 as the two halves that made for the ultimate Doctor to have ever have been. Please fans of Tennant don't bash me as I am not bagging him. I loved his Doctor immensely he simply has not remained my favourite that's all.
@@tokublwhovian It's still a pretty strange move for Doctor Who to make- besides, finding something else to watch might cause people to get invested in something else and completely forget about Doctor Who by the time it comes back..
Here's my thought: don't introduce a gay relationship if you don't have the guts to show the gay relationship. It doesn't need to be Blue is The Warmest Color, obviously, but you do need that romance. I don't know - have them holding hands and/or kissing, maybe a date. Just gut up and do it!
Im extremely against Tennant being back as a new incarnation. How about instead Jodie's regeneration could showed Gatwa from behind, leaving the mystery there, while for 2023 until he IS available and making some specials or a limited series with Paul McGann? Poor 8 needs more screen time.
You know what? I got ANGRY with Tennant's return as #14. At the time I wasn't sure why. I think the regeneration just seemed like an afterthought, stuck on the end purely because Jodie's time was up. Getting Tennant back just to "get old fans back" might backfire if it turns out that RTD doesn't want to repeat himself.
Chibakker crippled DW with 2 seasons of bad fan fiction. RTD getting 10 back is simply a way of arresting the slide. I sincerely doubt that RTD intends to change direction to the extent that he degenerates into Chris Chibnall
@@Halo_Legend ? Sydnew Newman, the show's creator wanted a female doctor in the 80s. Personally, I loved the idea. If we weren't let down by the writing, it'd be fantastic too, considering the fact that Jodie's debut episode had the highest rating of all doctor-debut episodes. Just because you don't like something, it doesn't mean everyone does. I hate this new fandom where a bunch of people think they speak for everyone, understand what fans want. Many people loved the idea of a female doctor, the gradual (rather than sudden) decline of the ratings after Season 11 brought the show back from an already ongoing decline for a short moment proves that it was the script's fault. If anyone should get a grip, it should be you. You do not speak for the fans as much as you think you do.

(this is me being vague about someone else. I'm pretty sure they also said bad things about classic who too iirc)
@@RealBadGaming52 no I'm hating on people who claim to be fans and then act like tennant's first run was the only time the how was ever 'good' in any aspect without even watching any other era. not only is that disrespectful to other eras, even the ones considered 'bad', it's not even being respectful towards the era they like by putting it on such a high shelf. I'm definitely not trying to paint all tennant fans as being like this, I was simply mentioning that those types of fan exist and they're probably not gonna continue watching after gatwa's proper introduction which isn't great for the show if they're relying on tennant to bring people back.
Do really niche comic and classic who characters count as fan wank when most fans won’t know or be old enough to actually know who they are? Is that really fan wank or is it just rebooting an already existing character? Coz I’m pretty sure it’s the latter
I am a bit concerned that RTD is rebooting with a hot young Doctor and his hot young blonde companion, though. Almost seems like reverting to Ten. Hopefully, they will be taking new and old and making something great.
I don't think that the point of eve of the daleks was to be anything that special, imo. overhyped, I would agree, but looking at the actual special, it's just. a solid episode. lotsd was disappointing, though. I think it was trying to do too much, which eve of the daleks didn't attempt to do as much as lotsd - no reintroduction of a classic monster, no historical figure, not a whole bunch of set-up that had to be crammed into an hour-and-a-half. lotsd without the hype and anticipation that led up to it, on the other hand, does still function and quite honestly there's quite a bit more of dr who that doesn't even manage that than you'd think. and I know that I'm concerned for the future of the show a lot more now than I was at the start of the year, solely because I worry about d*sney's probable influence and potential americanisation. and I hate that tenthree is officially fourteen because that's just. not fair to gatwa's doctor or to any other incarnation either. but I will say if beep the meep is returning I'm very interested to see what else we'll get. maybe even canon faction paradox. and I'm definitely sounding more negative than I'd like because I am genuinely very concerned about what the future holds for the show but I am also looking forward to seeing it

This is actually how I'm starting to feel waiting for Dragon Age 4 lol
We will get drip fed great marketing all through the year. RTD said before that if he wasn’t a writer, he would be in the marketing department
I swear, Tennant wanted to be the Doctor so badly, and now he has to ensure that the show remains in the mainstream for a second time.
I wish I was the doctor. David is really living the dream
I really feel that criticism of it being referential is kind of moot until it actually releases. A story relying on it's past is not inherently a bad thing.
The last Dalek New Year Special was one of Jodie's only episodes I actually kind of liked 😅
I just wished they made it more linked to the other two specials. Maybe the daleks have escaped the time vortex by taking advantage of the flux and are trying to repair themselves. Just something to link it with the other Dalek specials
About David Tenant “ is he looking tired”😂
Not to make a big deal of it as I know you did give a warning at the start, but if you're going to refer to spoilers from leaks, it might be a good idea to make that explicit in your warning. A lot of video makers will give spoiler warnings just for speculation or news that's been officially announced, so it can be helpful to indicate what level of spoiler you're including.
Sad my efforts to avoid the new TARDIS interior have come to an end, but very glad about how it looks!
Same here, you spend ages avoiding them only to get spoiled in a generalized video which doesn't need them included
'Spoilers' means different things to different people, clarity is never harmful.
i agree! i haven’t been lucky enough to avoid it (i use twitter lol) but i’d feel crummy if this spoiled it for me)
Timestamp? So I can avoid it?
Is the same man who say that the next Doctor will be a "diferent man".
I feel this could be the beginning of a new golden age of doctor who
Nope, Disney are interfering with it so nah, Dr who is 1963-2017 , it’s dead
After the regeneration, just before the credits, did anyone else realise it was 10s theme? Or was that just me?
Bit annoyed you leaked the TARDIS for me Harbo, I'd been avoiding it for weeks. Why?!?
bringing tennant back as the new 14th doctor for multiple episodes before jumping over to gatwa as the 15th is perfect. it allows rtd to (somewhat) continue on from where he left off. also here's hoping that the toymaker has actually been playing with the doctor since the end of capaldi's run, and the whittaker nonsense was pretty much just an awful fever dream.

Everything about 13 just felt like a weak tribute act to 10
I feel sorry for the cast; Jodie, Mandip, Tosin, Bradley, John, and Jacob are all great and I would have loved to see them in some good Dr Who stories
Also I know I’m jumping ahead, before David regenerating/de-regenerating into Ncuti, what if this was his last line:
“I want to go…”
no such thing as a "spoiler" for predictions, spoilers are for things that have already happened , fyi ive said i believe Rose is Donna's daughter
Weird to see 'looking like Sea Devils' being one of the complaints about the Sea Devils.
Worst-case scenario what if Ncuti's first series flops? There's no way they can wheel Tennant out again back for a 4th or 5th time
I never ended up watching Capaldi's last season as the Doctor.
It could be interesting in an academic way to really see the difference between modest and great talent
However I’m looking forward to the series to see what happens to bring in the 15th doctor, although admittedly, I actually enjoyed Jodie Whitaker as the doctor, but didn’t enjoy the wrong routine because it was just terrible in my opinion, but she did a brilliant job, making the best of a bad situation again it’s just my opinion
also sooo happy DR who is coming to disney+ so i have a legal way of watching as it airs~ ive had to "yo-ho" my way through everything else;;;
The Monk should return
At least that character can realistically just be recast without much backlash so there's not really any rush.
I didn't even know Legends of the Sea Devils was a special.
Good points. I’m still really pissed Doctor Who will be a Disney+ exclusive outside the UK though. I literally just canceled.
It's a double edged sword, it holds the series hostage behind a paywall for those outside the UK while also making it a bit more accessible in some other countries that had it through random streaming services/cable packages, but the budget increase will do absolute wonders for the production quality of the show
@@Whiteythereaper If you watch Doctor Who for the effects, rather than the stories and characters - this isn’t the show for you.

I'm just worried that Fan Service will be The center stage of The 60th Anniversary
It's not. If it were only fan service then it would be a big "epic" with multiple Doctors running around, but instead it's a character focused story.
I have absolutely no problem with him coming back however and this is where I have a little problem with it if his character the 14th doctor makes the same mistake the temp doctor did then I will have a problem with it cuz I've seen the previews and I will say this if he starts saying that it don't even remembers him and that she will die That's going to remind me of the high school reunion where he told Rose the time Lord's regenerate in human beings decay with her and die speech and that he told Adelaide that that she's just a little person yeah I have to agree with Adelaide no one should have that much power not even you with the great power comes great responsibility doctor and I don't think you have it anymore and if you don't know who you are then how the hell am I supposed to know
2023 is the 60 anniversary and if it’s only 4 episode special is better then just one or none episodes.
Great Video Harbo, Keep up the Great work 😃👍👍👍

Here's my thought: don't introduce a gay relationship if you don't have the guts to show the gay relationship. It doesn't need to be Blue is The Warmest Color, obviously, but you do need that romance. I don't know - have them holding hands and/or kissing, maybe a date. Just gut up and do it!

only good thing about the entire Chibnall era is Dan Lewis, played by John Bishop
I hope this doctor will be good and we eventually get a second female doctor in the future!🚺
Said no one ever. Get a grip.
You do not speak for the fans as much as you think you do.

not only is that disrespectful to other eras, even the ones considered 'bad', it's not even being respectful towards the era they like by putting it on such a high shelf.
I'm definitely not trying to paint all tennant fans as being like this, I was simply mentioning that those types of fan exist and they're probably not gonna continue watching after gatwa's proper introduction which isn't great for the show if they're relying on tennant to bring people back.
