If you are considering taking the fitting course, I highly recommend it. I have taken other online courses, Craftsy classes, but nothing has improved my sewing more than this class! Whitney breaks down fitting in such a clear, easy way and the tweaks I have made to my patterns as a result have transformed my fitting. Truly, this is an amazing class and worth every penny and more!!!
Me third. ;) in fact I just went to the resource center last week to look up a couple of things. Oh, and Whitney, that green paisley montrose that was my “muslin”, turns out it’s fitting great and I’ve worn it twice since I finally finished the hems a few weeks ago. I’m anxious to make more.
The class was great! I learned I need to do a broad back adjustment--something that was a huge surprise for me and fixed many, many other issues with one simple thing. The other thing I learned is that my hip-to-waist ratio is such that I will always need a zipper or drawstring closure in pants. An elastic waist is never going to be my go to. This was all super helpful information for both choosing patterns or adapting them.
I have been subscribed to the channel since 2019, and I really look forward to these plans videos. Thank you for getting this one up earlier than in the past. I find a hand knit shawl is one of my essentials for the transition seasons, and really appreciate having my Color Guru card with me as I yarn shop. My next travel knitting project (goes with me in the car & plane) is by Isabelle Kramer on Ravelry and called Toujours Paris in a DK weight wool yarn from my light neutrals. Seeing the large sleeve top that cannot go under sleeved toppers inspired me to want to share. 😊
Wow! Such a great capsule. I LOVED how you showed us and talked while watching. Very Well Done! You will be looking so chic and gorgeous. The colors are fantastic. AND, your new makes that you've planned...again, wow! Thank you so much for inspiring us again, to make and wear beautiful things. (Again, a couple things you're making I have on my list so I will wait to see yours first). Well done - from every angle!
Loving all your picks for autumn. Fall is my favourite since i am a true autumn. I just made up mccalls 8214 view b with the rayon voile you showed, it's so flouncy!
Love this capsule! I hear ya on the inflammation disorder, same here and digestive. I found Dr. Ken Berry on youtube speaking about carnivore lifestyle and it has helped sooo much. Just fyi. I tried everything and this works and easy to do.
I learned so much from the fitting classes.! Whitney is amazing! Love the community group too! Whitney, I love your Fall capsule wardrobe, great ideas!
Such a nice wardrobe and I’m excited to see your makes. I chuckled because I have those same shoes. The loafers from Target are so comfortable, more so than my expensive pairs. I can’t wait for the class to start again. I want to use different pattern company than I did last time so I can go through the process again. If anyone is thinking about it, the class is the best fitting class I have ever taken, all the women are so helpful and, of course, Whitney is there too for help
Whitney, awesome video. I love the set up you have to display and show the garments. Your fall wardrobe looks great. It is so You! You continue to inspire me. I printed off the Capsule Checklist and will start working on my own capsule. Thanks for all you do.
If anyone is even just thinking about signing up for the fit class, do it! I learned so much in the first one. I was starting a new job and could not participate in the community, but I watched all the videos. One thing that Whitney is very good at is there is no judging or shaming over anyone’s shape. I’m thinking of taking the fit class again so I can fully par and get the community benefit. Whitney, this is a great video. You are very inspirational to me and these types of videos just makes me want to sew, sew, sew! Great exciting plans! Take care❤
yes I agree with everything you've said. I've recommended this course to several people. Though I'm a very experienced sewist and have taken lots of fitting courses, I found this one more straight-forward and none of that dreaded overfitting that can be so discouraging. The community aspect is terrific.
The corduroy upland trousers are so fantastic on you. And it looks so good with that eyelet top. I REALLY need to make some this year! I love the try on format.
This preview of your fall capsule wardrobe where you show us the outfits on your body in the form of twirls is awesome! I can’t imagine how long it took to change clothes so many times and film it all, not to mention editing, etc., but it is so visually pleasing! It really showcases how all the pieces work so seamlessly together. I am in love with the printed blazer.
Mimi G's book is amazing! I recently got it for my birthday from my wonderful husband and I'm excited to make some beautiful garments with some fabric I bought without plans and some fabric bought for my birthday. I have a wrap dress and a wrap top/cardigan planned after the tee shirt.
I would love to take your pattern fitting class. This fa/winter a quite busy for us. Will you be able to offer again in the Spring? My plans for the next 6 months is 4 garments per month and at least one quilt. Good thing I do not need to go shopping😮 Also, you can make dickies from upcycled shirts with collars from Goodwill, etc. and you can save the ‘tails’ to make an elasticized piece that hangs out from the bottom of sweaters and sweatshirts (Stanton Hoodie) Great for casual wear. Watching your sew-along…I have that pattern. Such a very nice fitting pair of pants. It’s a style Arc pattern so read the instructions more than once and collect all the parts and plan ahead… Love your choices..there may be a couple of patterns I do not have but we can’t all wear the same pieces…boring!
Enjoyed your video today, as always. Love seeing that wild fabric with the leopards and wild colors again. Is such a pretty and fun print. Since you said you don't wear the pants that go with the jacket, I think the pants would seem more wearable if re-done into shorts, mid-thigh length, and not to be worn with the jacket. I can see where wearing the jacket and pants together might seem rather overwhelming, from that very loud and busy print. But shorts worn alone with solid tops, would be cute outfit.
Thank you for all of this... it was so great to see all the pieces going into the fall.. its great to start planning ahead for the fall/winter sewing .. I especially love the look of the Ophelia Dress.. I am starting to plan for a spring Alaska cruise wardrobe and this looks like it would be a good evening dress that would be comfy and would pack well 😊.. I didn't notice a link for the dress in the dropdown list?
I love the look of the Ophelia as well. If you scroll down to almost the bottom (you might have to drop the menu down further), the link for that is at the bottom under dress/one-pieces.
Because Closet Core sells classes for quite a few of their patterns, I'm unable to do sew alongs for their stuff. However, I will try and talk through some of the trickier bits when I get mine made!
The Bird of Paradise fabric was listed as a Rayon Voile, you have three metres so I would think you should be able to get a cami or a basic lined skirt to make a faux dress to go with your button down shirt! ;) Great ideas and love the items you picked for your capsule this fall!
Yes, and that's a plan along I want to watch! I am making a knit 2 piece dress for my travel module because I absolutely loved them when they were on trend when my sons were very young, they are now mid 30"s. I had a rayon Challis I wore weekly then but I only want to replicate the fabric not the silhouette of that 2 piece dress. Can't wait to see your pattern suggestions!
Hi Whitney. I have a fashion trend I would like to see a sew along on. Vest, everyone thinks they are easy but as we know they are not, or maybe I have not found the right pattern. If the bust isn't correct the armholes gape. You need to come in at the waistline, on a large bust woman lots to deal with. Maybe your daughter would want one. 😊. If you don't. Any good pattern suggestions would be great. Thanks.
It would be prefect in this capsule! It's currently living in my upstairs closet as it's a bit snug in the waist at the moment! I do love that dress, though!
@@TomKatStitchery that was the first full sew along that I followed, from you or anyone (not that I actually sewed along), but I tuned in for each part and picked up so many new to me sewing methods. That dress holds a special place for me. :) I remember loving the fabric and the pattern, and it was so beautiful when finished. Good luck with your next class!
I noticed your tag in the red jacket. What does your tag look like? I love the capsule. I would love to know how you decide what to keep and what to purge each season.
I buy my tags from The Dutch Label Shop (the woven sew in ones). I can definitely show one up close in another video! I can also talk more about how I choose what to purge and keep each season!
Are your love notions Blazer lined? Love, love your Fall Caosule. I need to get back ti sewing. Went yesterday to Dillsrds and look for some new clothes. Was given a gift cards for my birthday. I was not amazed with somw of the Womens selected. On the Ophelia dress - wouldn't it be nice with some shirring on the bodice. What do you think?
Not at this time. The community will only be for the current students. However, I am thinking offering a community only option sometime next year for everyone that has taken the class and wants a refresher/additional hand holding. Stay tuned!

@kandacek63 Woo hoo!
Thank you so much, everyone! I'm so glad you all enjoyed the class so well!
I love this setup for your videos. It’s easy to see how everything coordinates!
I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
I never considered wearing a color that isn’t in my palette farther from my face. That’s great advice!
It makes for a fun pop/contrast of color!
This class was amazing and so worth it! Total game changer!!!! Whitney, you are an amazing teacher!
That is so kind! Thank you so much!
Just now signed up for the class - Sooooo excited!! 👏👏👏
Oh boy! It's going to be fun!
Love the Fall makes - great colors on you. Love the Mimi G shirt fabric idea. I bought that book too!
Thank you! I'm excited about making with that book!
Hi, Whitney! I'm listening to you as I'm driving home.
I love that!
Loved this glass and all the resources. Seriously helped me step up my sewing skills.
I love to read that!

this was so interesting, I will probably watch it over a dozen times. I would love to take the Fitting 101 but will be traveling...next time.
I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
I just signed up for the fitting course, and it showed up just the time I needed it to. Can’t wait to start.
Oh good!
I love seeing you try on your clothes! It's so inspiring seeing how your wardrobe is building!
I'm so glad!
The cropped ‘jacket/blouse’ is so flattering on you! Anytime you wear a cropped overlay like this one, the proportion is attractive!
Thank you so much!
I think I need that ponte pants pattern. They look amazing on you !!!!
Thank you! It's a great pattern. I have a couple of pairs now and I've made pairs for both my Mom and sister. It's a family favorite!

That's a great idea for a sew along! There are quite a few vest patterns out there now!
Thanks for another informative blog.
One question though. Does Mimi G’s book have cup sizes?
The Mimi G book doesn't have cup sizes. I'll have to do FBAs on all the top/dress patterns.
Do you ever wear that strawberry shirt dress you made for the sew along? That would be perfect in this capsule.

I am so impressed with your capsule! My favorite jacket is your red moto!
Thank you! I'm so glad I made that jacket in red!
Is the community chat, photos, etc also available to review in the future as part of the recorded information from the class interaction?
No. The community aspect does go away at the end of the class, but the lives continue to be available recordings.
