    They all call Big Jim Boss. Need CC on.

    Hey Jeff, lol...1:57 It's "they all call big Jim boss" , not "balls". Remember, they had to play this on the radio in 1972... an era where they FCC made the radio stations change the word "hell" in Don McLean's "American Pie."

    I forgot how young you are.....
    Jim Croce (CROW-chee) was a folk singer in the hippie/folk era. This was released in '72, he died in '73 in a tragic accident. The original version is lighter, Geoff's is much more menacing. Suits the lyrics.
    I love the high Slim singer, low Geoff is amazing, but higher Geoff is beautiful! And of course, the ROUND knocked my socks off!

    Jim Croce (Cro'-chee). The one that's looking for Big Jim Walker is Willie McCoy (goes by Slim at home)

    8:15 So right, Geoff does add something special to each of his covers. He's an amazingly skilled and thoughtful arranger and performer. I adored Jim Croce as a teen, and I love the way Geoff brought this lovely man's work to a new modern audience

    Voiceplay released their new video today, the 28th..... Classical Chaos.
    It is absolutely amazing and fun.
    They brought back the characters from their "In The Hall of The Mountain King" video.

    Jim Croce was one of my favorite singers from the early 70's. He died in 1973 when his plane crashed on the way to Natchitoches, LA (about an hour from where I live in Louisiana). It was so sad. He was an amazing talent. His song "Time in a Bottle" will bring tears to your eyes.

    Geoff always makes the tone of the songs sound more appropriate for the lyrics. This has such a beat and has more of a fight song vibe than the original.

    You should put the cc on for Geoff's videos (unless it states they're auto-generated)
    Waiting to hear your thoughts on the one VP just dropped

    Geoff is really good at holding his notes. In Dragonborn Comes he held an A1 note for 10 seconds. In Valhalla Calling he held a B0 for 15 seconds.
    In other videos he's also hed his notes for several seconds.

    Wow, are there really that many typos in the video's description? I'm surprised I didn't notice. Well, Geoff is distracting. I love how "Slim" becomes "The Boss" (Sorry Bruce Springsteen!) at the end of the song. I wonder if Big Bad John would have had to call either Jim or Slim "Boss?" 💙

    • @Badger77722
      @Badger77722 3 месяца назад +1

      No, there aren't any typos in the video description. I think Jeffrey must have a slight touch of dyslexia, or is just having a really bad day with the English language - he messed up some of the lyrics as well, since he doesn't have closed captions turned on. "They all call Big Jim "boss"", not "balls".

    • @DravenGal
      @DravenGal 3 месяца назад +1

      @@Badger77722 Ohhh! I have Math dyslexia. So I suck at it too! I hope Jeffrey doesn't take offense! I didn't mean to be mean! Typos do happen, too. And to be fair, when sung, "boss" could easily be mistaken for "balls" (and is actually a hilarious error)! But that's one of the reasons I put in my "rules" (suggestions) to always have CC on with Geoff and Voiceplay.💙

    • @Badger77722
      @Badger77722 3 месяца назад +1

      @@DravenGal Since Geoff and VP always provide their own captions (they don't use the auto-generated ones, which can be quite humorous at times!), there doesn't seem to be any reason not to use them. And it saves on mistakes like this one, too!

    Jim Croce (Crochee) they call Boss. and it's Slim McCoy. In the original it wasn't spit into the wind but another word but Geoff always cleans up the lyrics.

      When I look up the lyrics and listen to the original. He says spit into the wind.

    • @Badger77722
      @Badger77722 3 месяца назад

      I've seen people talking about a different verb instead of "spit", but the original album recording definitely says "spit" (you can listen to it on RUclips). That lyric had to be able to get radio airplay, so I'm wondering if Jim might have changed the lyrics when he was performing the song live into something a little more "mature", and that's where the other verb came from.

    In the current era there's a bias towards finding "meaning" in violence. In Jim Croce's era, it was still common to tell stories about bullies getting what they had coming - always with humor. The little guy laughing at the bully getting knocked off of his throne. Croce sang this one with that sort of humor; Geoff sings with menace. In my mind neither interpretation is superior: each represents their era.
