Thank you 👍🏻💐 Lots of nice shoes, I‘d like to have them all except ballerinas. Never liked ballerinas on me only on other ladies. I think I look and walk duck like in those. Mary janes, no please. What I do love are Converse chucks in black with white sole. Only this color, only the original. Please dont hit me, anybody😉. So classy and timeless, with bootcout jeans or wide leg trousers. I like to dress those up or down with clothes.

Well i cant wear a ballet pump so well due to a wide foot but the mary janes work well so needs must. Trying to resurrect heels currently.. they may just be “ restaurant heels” though 😊

I have 2 pairs of block heels but was worried they might be a bit frumpy. However yours looked so stylish I'm now going to get them out from the back of my wardrobe and try them with jeans. I am embarrassed to admit I like Mary Janes but not if they're dark and chunky. I love ballet flats 😂
Hello, I like the video very much and the suggestions are good. Personally, I find a flat or low heel t-strap flatters my legs a best. So I will likely skip, ballet flats, loafers and Mary Jane’s although they look fantastic on others. Thank you!
I love my crisp white sneakers, they look good with allot of chic or relaxed outfits. When I don't know what shoes to wear I always end-up wearing my white sneakers. I got leather ones, easier to keep clean then the canvas ones in my opinion. I also started wearing colored sneakers in winter instead of boots, I discovered a brand called Hoff, they are the most comfortable sneakers I have ever owned. I have a pair of kaki green with burgundy and dark purple, I wear them with pants or dresses in the winter. Love them.

As much as I adore them, I find ballet flats make the top of my coup de pied look like a loaf of bread… and totally agree re the Mary Jane’s.

I love all the style suggestions you have. I have several pair of Vivaia Aria style flats. I love the pointed toe. I am 75 and want to be stylish and modern looking with a bit of youthfulness thrown in. I have taken a liking this year to fashionable sneakers too. I like Dolce Vita brand, Zina I do have my walking sneakers just for walking but love the casual, more fashionable sneakers for my casual outfits. Recently I have bought Sam Edelman pointed toe kitten heel sling back heels in a lovely pink and a gold color. So fun for summer. I plan to wear heels as long as I am able.

Totally agree about the Mary Janes, I think they're called... but I have one foot that is a cm smaller than the other. If I wear ballet flats, my smaller foot keeps losing the shoe. So that strap just keeps everything in place. Great video, thank you.
Unfortunately I broke one foot twice in the same place so heels are out for me. I can wear a low wedge which is what my dress boots are. I love the Vivaia shoes and currently have 3 pairs of them. All of the shoes you have shown are lovely!

Sosander have some lovely pale gold ones which are gorgeous 😍 & go with everthing, waiting for the rain to stop so I can wear them 🥰

Great video - thank you!! Glad to hear I'm not the only one that will pass on the Mary Janes this season. They're everywhere and some are very cute, but I just can't. I haven't worn a heel over 2 inches in many years and I can't say I even need some any more. I love a good espadrille (Franco Sarto makes a great lower heeled one), so those are good for summer anyway. I'm also tempted to pick up the Chanel inspired slingbacks too, but I'm leaning towards the all black option (black matte leather and patent cap toe). Still on the fence about those.

I have just found a couple of pairs of ballerina flats that I love. I have had a difficult time finding a ballerina that didn't slip off my heel, so was nice to find a couple with
some stretch. I am in agreement Mary Janes are not my thing and I think they look childest!

I have all five styles so I’m set!!!
I only like Mary Janes with a lower vamp and block heels, the flats look little-girlish. I also like a low-set strap. The similar style I love is Sezane’s Paula Babies, which have two straps set quite low over the vamp. They’re very flattering and comfy. I prefer a mid-heel, especially a block one, for daily wear outside my home. If I must, I wear nice, leather sneaker mules for extra comfort, they look more polished than lace-ups.

Hi Deirdre Another fab video! I have to add that I always buy a pair of gold sandals and silver sandals with a gold bag and a silver bag, they work with all my summer wardrobe and look great! Also easy to go on holiday as they go easily from day to night without going over on the baggage allowance!

I do agree about the Mary Jane ballet flats. However, after 7 spinal surgeries, my feet don;t work very well and ballet flats don't stay on my feet. I can't wear heels any more, even a kitten heel, because of my balance issues. I can wear a short block heel. When it comes to shoes, I own a few pairs of loafers. I need something that comes up high on the vamp. I can't even wear a slide. I must say that trying to be stylish when you are disabled is a challenge. Videos like yours are a big help, though when it comes to shoes, I am definetley limited when it comes to choices.
You are not alone ❤. Hallus valgus and arthritis on my big toe so not very many shoes work for me.
It's tough , isn't it? It's also frustrating when you see outfits that you know would look best with a certain type of heel and realize they won't work for you. I try to the best I can with my limited options. One thing I will never do, id give up and become a frumpy old lady. I'm 74 now, and expect to be as fashionable as possible until they plant me in the ground. I find it sad to see mature women letting themselves go. That's why channels like Deirdre's are a must for me.@@sarinilsson1054
I agree, being disabled can make fashion more challenging.
I need spinal surgery, but would rather exhaust every other option (which I have! lol)…. However, like you I cannot wear heels so I decided my next best option would be wedges. I have shoes and sandals in various styles and heights of wedges (obviously not too high! 😉), as I don’t want to fall off my crutches! lol 😂
But seriously, I did enjoy the selection here and agree the Mary Jane’s are a “NO NO”. I do love the “Chanel-look” flats.
i might try wedges, if i can find ones with a low height. My feet really need to held in on all sides, as I teeter. Do you have any suggestions? No one wants to undergo spinal surgery, but sometimes, as in my case, the pain is just too much to live with. I was quite pleased with the outcome of my first one and could have lived happily with the results. Sadly,I suffer from psoriatic arthritis and it loves to "eat" your back. ubsequaent surgeries ensued because my back was falling apart. If you are otherwise normal, then depending on what type of surgery is being contemplated, you could be better off having it. It is a big decision. i joked with my surgeon after my 4th one that I could probably do the next one, myself. @@malaika2940

Nancy, I buy the Van Dal wedges - they tend to have a decent selection regarding variety in height and style. I have some which are quite low. I do find the shoes are supportive. I quite like the style ‘Hanover’ - that might give you an idea of what I’m talking about.
There was a particular make/manufacturer of shoe which was supportive, I’ll try and see if I can find their name for you.
I know only too well what you mean. Morphine really just doesn’t touch the pain. Despite a 10-12 hr operation the NeuroSurgeon couldn’t give me a decent outcome post op. There was a 90% chance I would probably be paralysed and in worse pain than I am currently experiencing. If the operation was successful I would have to have further surgery every 12-18 months, so I’m really trying to delay the process for as long as possible, although I know that one day I will have no option. I have a few conditions, which complicates things - just my luck! lol…… Spondylolisthesis, Spinal Stenosis, herniated discs as well as good old Osteo-Arthritis are some of the issues making me require the surgery.
Psoriatic Arthritis is awful - I’m so sorry to hear you suffer from it. However, it sounds like you have a sense of humour and like me, you joke with your Surgeons! Good for you! lol. Best wishes to you…….. Take care. xx

Hi Deidre, Brilliant video as usual. You often mention about your height, being short. As an adult I was 5' 41/2"" and never felt short. A few years ago I developed osteoporosis, then fractured my spine in three places, resulting in my body shrinking. I am now Just 5 foot. Now Deidre, that is short .😂
I agree with your shoe choices and that it's best to stick with neutral skin toned, cognac, or black. I bought a bronze colored strappy sandal to be different and struggled with how to style them. I won't buy any heel over 1 1/2" anymore, too hard to walk in.

Hi Deirdre, I just recently discovered your channel and I must say I love it! I really like your style and I find each video very informative. Really enjoyed this one about shoes.. I have each and every style you mentioned except the Mary Jane flats lol… don’t think I can get away with that one at my age and living in Florida 😂. They are probably only looking good on a model on a Chanel fashion show runway! But hey, who am I to judge?
If only it were so easy to only choose shoes that I really like. I have bunions and shoe shopping has become very depressing for me. I love beautiful shoes, including all the ones you included here. Most are just too painful to wear. I do have 2 pairs of Mary Janes from Dansko to wear with pants - the pants covers all but the toe. It’s been humbling to accept that this is how it is now.
There’s a company called Sole Bliss that I’m going to try soon. Their shoes are made specifically for women with bunions. They are super cute and stylish- and $300 a pair. 😮

Great video Deirdre. Thank you. I do hate looking for shoes! I have a high instep, a wide foot with a standard heel, and am a half-size. It's very unusual to find anything that fits which isn't a lace up or a boot, and even they can be difficult, so court shoes rarely fit and loafers never have. At 5' 1" I don't wear Mary Jane's. However last week I did find a pair of ivory medium block heel sandals in M&S my size and wide fitting which, being a mule (or a slider??) didn't provide the usual slippery heel outcome. I didn't fall out of them either, which I had assumed I would. A result! But if I want to walk any distance, it's got to be sneakers/trainers. Do you think I can find a simple pair of nude adjustable slingbacks in 4.5 wide fit? Well, not so far...

No to Mary Janes for me either. Sneakers are restricted to walk events like browsing stores or just simply going for a walk. I don't wear them with dresses or skirts. It must be my Parochial School days that turn them off for me.😊
