Thanks for this. 👍. I have resurrected a 1984 venture royale. Runs stronger and stronger each time I ride it. So much better that am now getting clutch slip when I really lean into the throttle. I am thinking the slave cylinder may be gunked and sticking. The clutch lines were completely dry when I started the project. Am also getting light smoke on muffler in that area. So it may be leaking brake fluid on the muffler. Not enough to leave a puddle under the bike, but enough to smoke a bit in that area when riding. Probably leaks only from cycling the clutch while riding. Plan to take it out and clean it and change seals. I hope that fixes any stiction causing the slipping and the whispy smoke from that area. I will also open the clutch cover the check and clean discs as well as replace the clutch springs during the same maintenance session. Should be a 3 beer long job, the slave cylinder and the clutch springs.
The service manual says to change those seals every 2 years. I congratulate Yamaha engineers and designers for putting a part that needs to be removed so often in that tight space.
the middle gear is lubed by engine however the housing will trap oil even when you drain crankcase....so they have the one screw bored right into oil at 6 oclock.
My clutch went out during a ride (lost all preasure and fluid was full and clean) so I replaced the friction plates (which definitely needed to be done) and then master cylinder and rebuilt the slave cylinder (because i still had the problem) but now I have too much preasure so the lever Is stiff and can't flex to the grip when pulled...what did I do wrong...I beleive the issue is with the slave cylinder rebuild. Please help
You could have several problems here. I have never had to replace clutch plates on a venture, but a v max yes. How many miles on your bike? After you replaced the clutch plates could you squeeze the clutch lever? This issue you have with there being too much pressure at the lever I have seen in many automotive cases and once or twice in bikes. It is usually a collapsed brake line. The inner part of the rubber delaminates and swells up and acts like a one way valve. It could be that you didn't rebuild the master properly, but I have never seen that issue. If the clutch plates are not assembled properly you could have one of them hanging up or the clutch push rod jammed.
@MOAB originally the clutch rod was jammed and we fixed that but still having the issue thats why i went to the slave thinking it needed a rebuild and was seized up but it still did it and then moved on to master and syill does it...the master I replaced the whole thing instead of a rebuild on it because I had a brand new one in my storage. It has about 35k miles on it I got it at 29k...so if it's the line do I just replace the line and that will tell me if it's that or the slave then?
@MOAB I'm not sure it's the line though cause fluid makes it to the bleeder valve no problem it seems like I did something wrong on the slave cause on another video the guy said if you Crack the bleeder and fluid jumps out that means line is fine but slave is where the issue is but hydrolics are all knew to me so 🤷

Wow! Thanks for sharing
Go to the 1 hour and 5 minute mark for my political opinion of the state we are in.

Great video, good to see you again.
And yep they’re sick.
Wish mine was that easy to get out.
keep the videos rolling!
Great video thanks a lot.
I've got a royal star where the hydraulic line from the slave to the clutch leaked do to rusting out.
I think the insulation on middle gear cover is for noise reduction.

Sir, can you please tell me if this slave cylinder rebuild kit is the same for yamaha Mt 01?
No idea. I use BikeBandit.com, you can look up any stock part for your bike than go to another model and see if it has the same part number.
I have questions for you how rich you
Sehr lehrreich
With your cover. I don't know how you would be smart enough to operate a wrench.
Maybe now you get it.
