"Conspiracy theorist Alex Jones told his audience that liberal elites are likely "eating babies" after taking philosopher Sam Harris' words out of context.
On his Sunday afternoon broadcast, Jones called attention to an interview between The Young Turk's host Cenk Uygur and the philosopher.
"I thought surely it's out of context," Jones said before taking the clip out of context. "I have the transcript here where he says why don't we just start eating babies? We've got all these extra baby parts; millions we kill every year. Why don't we just eat them?"

The most amazing thing is that Cenk is still butthurt about Sam schooling him in 2014. And somehow Cenk still tries to convince himself that he won the debate. Why is it so hard to understand that Islam's ideas, if taken seriously, are very dangerous given that Islam, unlike Christianity, is all about the belief that their holy book is word for word what god said.

Which brings me back in time to the days when "dead baby" jokes were all the rage, similar to 'elephant" jokes. One of them that stood out was this perplexing riddle:
"How do you make a dead baby float?"
"A bottle of Coke and two scoops of dead baby."
At fourteen, that joke made me roar. Now it reminds me of Alex Jones.
I love a good dead baby joke... I was a fan of the "Mommy! Mommy!" jokes also, such as:
"Mommy! Mommy! I don't want to see Grandma!"

See this is the real harm with people not being educated. A Modest Proposal was written in 1729, and it was written as an incredibly absurd thought experiment to deal with poverty in Ireland (eat the poor), and that's most likely what Sam Harris was referencing there. AJ scopped it up and was like "Ha! My crowd is dumb enough!"

Jonathan Swift wrote a pamphlet once to address the starvation in Ireland by satirically suggesting that because there were so many Catholic babies that were starving, they could solve the problem by eating the babies. It was meant as a way to point out all the BS that the British Empire forced on the poor within the Empire. Alex Jones, you would think, might understand satire.

The proposal of eating babies came from a coherent and elegantly written satire by Johnathan Swift in the early 1700s. Someone heard a reference to it in "school" and eventually it made its way into the witless memes of dumpkoffs. BTW I enjoy your programs

Sam Harris took that argument from Jonathan Swift's 'A Modest Proposal' in which he satirically proposes the Irish poor should consume their children to alleviate hunger and he even includes some recipes they could use. It caused an uproar at the time because people thought he was being serious

I live about 20 minutes from Sandyhook where all of the children were younger than 7. Even though I live on the NY side of the border, we were devastated.
My niece’s oldest child was at Parkland when that shooting happened. He changed schools because he was so traumatized.
Then the other day I was talking to best friend who lives in Orien, Michigan. She suddenly panicked and told me she had to go. Her daughter was going to college on the Lansing campus. They drove there immediately and brought her home.
She went back on Monday. They aren’t starting classes yet, but teachers on campus are leaving there doors open for kids who need to talk. I called my friend today to see how Rosie was doing. That’s when Karen told me there had been another school shooting in the sister school.
I don’t understand how many children have to die before we get strong gun legislation. No one is saying that the government is going to take away people’s guns. We want stronger laws that ban ass assault rifles. No one hunts with an AR-15. The deer would be blown to bits. Now imagine the deer was a 6 year old. Parents had to ID their babies by the clothes they were wearing then double checked with DNA.
How is it that at the age of 69 years old, I’ve known people who died in each of these shootings. We have had 73 mass shootings since January first. AND don’t blame this on democrats or republicans. This failure goes on every single member of Congress and every President who was elected at the time of the shootings.
Blame the members who call themselves pistol toting mamas who want to break the rules and carry guns onto the floor. This isn’t a “He said, She said” issue. By fostering this false narrative that school teachers need guns. I’m a science teacher who prays every single day that we can make it through another day without blood running down the walls of a classroom. Let people like Alex Jones look at dead children who have had half their body ripped in two by an assault rifle and tell his family that they are crisis actors. THIS MUST STOP NOW!
