Wrexham AFC Kop stand update
I agree with an earlier comment - there is no solution which is going to be 100%. Some people will love the design, other’s will hate it. The disruption of the construction phase will get under people’s skin quickly - there is no avoiding this. Personally, I think the embossed dragons are cool.
For people in the close vicinity it will be problematic but there is nothing you can do.
@WrexhamAFCfanzone if you don't like where you live you can move. There are options.
Where does it say I don't like living in Wrexham? LOL
Intriguing news. Good you did the background on the used bricks. The wheel has to be complete restored in order to pay tribute to the disaster. Thank you for this informative vlog.
Yes and its really heavy!!! They will need one massive lorry and winch or whatever to get from where it is. Plus its heavily embedded into the ground and covered in weeds.
Great info Tom - well done. Little tweaks here and there are to be expected…but otherwise it will be fab. Just added an entry in Discord about earlier comment today. 😊
Ok will check later. Hope you got your beauty sleep after your late night! 😴💤
@ - LOL. Barely. 🥱🥱
I think I would like it better if it was symmetrical. If the building will create nesting habitat for birds, that aspect of the design should be removed/modified to avoid real problems down the road. Thanks for the update!
I don’t think it intends to create habitat per se . I think it might happen with the perforated brick cladding.
@@WrexhamAFCfanzone Sorry, I wasn't clear; I don't mean intentional habitat. I was referring to creating unintentional habitat (birds don't care if you meant to create a nesting platform or not; they just care that it suits their needs). I'm saying that the design should be assessed for any unintentional habitat created and those design elements should be modified.
I imagine they will have thought about it, at least I hope so.
Hiya. I know I'm in my 70s, but I can't see ANY flag, just a weird red wall. Is there a way to see it, like we stared at those posters of some years back in order to see a yacht or something? Stay safe. All the best to you.
Andy, some guy saw the brick seams that seemingly ( excuse the pun) form a cross. He thinks it looks like the English flag LOL
Whether it changes or it doesn't, I just hope I can make it there all the way from Canada one day
Great stuff, you will enjoy the trip.
There is always going to be push back on a project like this, anywhere in the world! Change, and the building phase of that change is a major source of annoyance to many. Have to say, the red brick issue is valid one. Both the legacy and the design allowing potential nesting. Guess it would be a stretch to suggest the red brick could serve as a further memorial to the miners who were killed? As for the birds, netting is one option, but there is also the spiking process. Effective and less visible in my opinion. Birds in my area are not real fans of the spikes, where as they find ways to get behind the netting.
Yes, the red brick and how they spoke specifically about Ruabon is more of a concern but can be sorted out. Lots of birds in the ground and around it, I suppose it depends if nesting birds cause a problem. I am all for giving them somewhere to nest. I know you can put special nesting bricks in properties now.
@@WrexhamAFCfanzone I have seen videos on those nesting bricks. Nice for homes, not sure about using them in a public building like a stadium. Particularly with the food service aspect.
Yeah I know. I am assuming this is something Populous have looked at and are aware the birds around there could nest in the holes.
Regarding design, I don't think it looks absolutely amazing from the side of those renders but 1) Materials look good and are unique to most football grounds 2) Renders are not actual buildings and most importantly 3) Buildings are viewed from the ground and not from above like in renders. This design looks pretty great from the ground level which is what explains the uneven shapes. And I believe that Populous was brought in do create a design that can be expanded to other stands with time. The overall stadium once finished might look great as opposed to one singular stand.
I have lots of design info and plans to post which might make things a whole lot clearer.
I am one of those that does not like the new look. Now, I don't hate it. But it looks more like your going to a museum then a football stadium. But I may be in the minorioty when it comes to not liking the new design. But at the end of the day all that matters is if the people of Wrexham love it. Also they needed to move the players into a new room. I mean, have you not seen how small the one they are using now is? It's shoulder-to-shoulder in there.
I'm sure everything , from the fans experience to the player's experience will be greatly improved. I am putting up a massive look at the plans later that might change your mind on the design perhaps.
I love the design. Looks like a castle wall haha
It does LOL, imagine it all the way around?

You nailed it, perfect!
Are the protesters going to finance a different stand
Haha 😛 well that is the question 😂
Also, about the requierments, where are they going to get a minimum of 150 VIP parking spaces? we don't even have our own parking lot.
They have parking behind the player's entrance and possibly take the large car park off the Uni. The players already use it on match days.
Surprise, surprise - checking 5 minutes before the start and I have the game available. But confused as to why Vale’s stadium is mostly empty and Vale has just scored. 🤔
Yeah it started off horribly wrong LOL Goal in like 21 seconds or something! It is empty because a lot of fans don't care about this trophy and its mid week.
@ OK. Thanks. With so many trophy series in the EFL, over here we have no clue which ones are important. Try to find my comment, of the wee hours, with my question regarding the nicknames for lads. LOL
Ok, will do.
Talk about nit picking and looking a gift horse in the mouth. Populous is a world leader and world class designer of sports stadiums. They spent a huge amount of time in Wrexham consulting with the team and the fans and the town. But clearly there is always an element in every community determined to whine and find fault. You can never please everyone. It’s the same people calling for Parky to be replaced after two straight promotions and sitting at the top of the table. Way too much time on their hands. Might be time to get a life. 😂
Yeah " Parky out" really makes me laugh when you think of what he has achieved for the club.
They moan about anything English yet play in the English league, you’re more than welcome to play in the welsh league.
" They" or the individual who created the petition? Not sure what kop design has to do with what league we play in.
How is the new kop resemble the English Flag?
Some fans have said there is a visible cross created by brick seams. If you look 2nd and third shard from right. Personally I find it a weird observation but there you go.
@@WrexhamAFCfanzone o, that's overreaching, you can see a cross in most things built in the world.
Of course you can. I find it strange but it's obviously annoyed the man who created the petition.
Why do people in wrexham hate the English makes them look bitter and twisted
I stg people will always find something to bitch about
I just think its flat out ugly af.
Lots think the same but some love it. Seeing it in real life when its been constructed will be the test.
@@WrexhamAFCfanzone it'll be too late, at that point. the design should be industrial and reflect the soul of Wrexham, a mining town. lots of iron to go with the brick. i've never even been to Wrexham and I can already tell this design is NOT something the residents of Wrexham feel reflects their town in the slightest.
My concern is how it will work when we expand the other stands. Is this a off one design or will they wrap it around?
What an eyesore was expecting better than this😔
What did you want to see?
There's only one kop and it's not in some welshshithole
Where's that then Chris?
