  • Okay, I know you can find a quicker video on HOW to do oat milk from scratch, but I wanted to share not only the steps of how to make it, but WHY it is great to make your own oat milk and basically all the info I could cram in to help inspire you on your from-scratch journey, including how you can use the leftover oats. So don't come for me in the comments! (Or, do, if you want! It's all good!)
    Here is the recipe (and also the oat cookies I mention):

    Also, try these biscuits (simple, but delicious!):

    The oil in commercial oat milk is to make the oat milk creamier. The oil is incorporated with an emulsifier so that it becomes a creamy suspension and later mixed into your oat milk. That way, you get a similar creamy mouthfeel like fairy milk when u drink it.

      Yes exactly this! It’s very clever from a sales perspective I’ll admit, but not good or necessary for our bodies ♥️

      So weird that she said she has diary milk but then turns up her nose at fats in milk...

    • @TheFromScratchBody
      @TheFromScratchBody  4 месяца назад +3

      @@snowstrobe She doesn’t turn her nose up at fats, but at cheap, unhealthy oils added to oat and nut milk drinks to enhance creaminess and avoid splitting, done for profit (and many people are unaware of this).
      There are plenty of great options for healthy fats in your diet! Hope that helps 🥰

    This looks like such a fun project to try. I have seen oat milks with sunflower,pumpkin and flax seeds which would add some nutritional value, so I may try adding them to the oats. Have you ever attempted anything like that? I really have no idea how to do it.

    How do you clean/wash your linen bags/cloth after making oat milk please?
    Going to give this a go this week thank you !

      Great question! I rinse them out right after using them to get the remaining oat pulp out, and then run them in the washing machine on a gentle cycle!

    I stick mine through a cold press juicer after the blender as it seems to make it really smooth. Not too much fibre is separated either.

      Hi, thank you for watching!! I didn’t personally; a dash of vanilla essence or my personal favourite, maple syrup (or honey, if you’re not vegan) are all great options, sugar is totally fine too of course but I am happy with it without too much sweetener! I’d recommend trying different options and seeing what works for you 💕

    Great video, thank you. I had no idea it was so easy. A note on splitting though; my understanding is that the shop bought 'Barista style' oat milk (and other non-dairy alternative milks) doesn't split when heated because it's stabilised with a protein which keeps things together. Dairy naturally has this protein so fine if u want to make a flat white etc, but alternative milks need to be added to if they're going to be heated up so intensely. That said, for home use I will def try this method. Many thanks, N
