- In this episode of MadRasana Duet, we feature Vaibhav Ramani and Rakshita Ramesh presenting the Ragam Desh.
Colours of Desh:
This medley attempts to showcase the beauty and versatility of Raga Desh, a raga that has been used very effectively across multiple genres of music in India. All the compositions presented here, entirely in Raga Desh and in multiple languages, span across the genres of classical, devotional and film music, demonstrating the pan-Indian appeal for this Raga. The artistes have tried to blend the different compositions together with their own improvisation and the two string instruments beautifully complement each other to create a soulful melody. Compositions presented here (in sequence) are:

3. Vittala Salaho Swami - Purandara Dasa

6. Vande Mataram - Bankim Chandra Chatterjee

What a melody, what an excellence, what a profound exhibition of the duet, how pleasing to the mind and heart are their music, god bless them in all ways. Thank you for this beautiful beautiful piece. Music has the power to touch souls. I find myself completely in tears as I write this message. Your rendition reminded me of my childhood, of how much I miss India, of my loving grandfather who would sing "thunbam nergayil" completely out of tune and that I will never get to hear that again. Life is sad and painful and difficult but it's equally joyous, beautiful and meaningful and listening to good music is one of the reasons it makes life worth living. Thank you for that! ❤
