- It's Pilea Peperomioides propagation time! #PileaPeperomioides - commonly known as Chinese Money #Plant and Friendship Plant, is originally from the southwestern Yunnan province of China. They are very easy houseplants to grow and #propagate. Their bright green coin-shaped leaves provide an adorable and welcome burst of color against white walls. #Houseplant #Pilea #Propagation
I picked up a HUGE pilea for 6 dollars! I ended up getting 10 babies off of it. I held on to like 4 and was able to share the rest. 💛
I love sharing plants!
Ahh today I just got a tiny tiny one for 7 dollars. I need better places to get my plants lol
@@plantspit518 me too ,got a tiny baby for $7 , too expensive
Thank you for giving a bit of insight into the name along with Chinese culture 🌸
A metal chopstick works beautifully for loosening roots and separating rhizomes. I've always used a polished wooden one, but eventually it will start to fray, then I ordered some orchid bark from Bonsai Jack and in the order they included a metal chopstick! Awesome!
Thank you Jolene, I love the bit of insite on this beautiful plant and the Chinese culture that goes with it. I have always loved this plant ever since it showed up, but the prices were so out there that I thought I would never be able to get my hands on one, but I picked mine up for 8.99 in a 4 inch pot and she is growing like crazy and I'm ready to give one of her babies to my daughter, who also wants one super bad. Thanks again for a fun video and your Pilea is gorgeous all of them.
I didn’t expect the knife to come out when she said “straight forward quick and easy” 😭😂
I love this plant so much. That was so easy. Love your video. 😊
I probably would've kept the mother plant together! Love how bushy it looked. To each their own! That's a crazy amount of babies tho. They're so prolific it's kinda crazy how expensive the are in the us
Thanks for the information I just purchased one with tiny babies. Loved the info on the plant 🌱 origins.
If you made a plant ASMR video I would watch the heck out of that 😂😍 those pilea babies are so cute!!
Someone did it! I think his name was DuTube or something like that. I was really hoping that it would become a trend for all the Plant RUclipsrs to do it, but not yet ;)
@@allycat6141 Oh snaaap, I'll have to check it out! Ikr, I'm still waiting too 😂 Cosmic Tingles has some old ones that will be my fix in the meanwhile hahaha
I would have kept the 3 large mother plants together, I love how full and lush they look together. I have a mother plant with 5 off shoots all just as big as the original plant, I don't think I will separate them.
Truth Johns taking the babies and separating will give each mother more room for more babies. They’ll be looking super lush in no time 😊
Taking the babies is fine but I would have left the 3 large plants together
I agree
I think 3 plants all together in a pot also ok but divide each also great. But if need to divide need to more gentle for no demise of the plants as like to use kinds of chopsticks.
I love Pilea and your's is fabulous! Great job of propagating. I wish mine would grow that large.
Hello Jolene!! I like your videos!!!❤️I came to a conclusion .. you are a perfect surgieron!!😃❤️❤️👏👏👏those beautiful baby’s end healthy end robust mothers!! I loved!!
You are just precious! Good info! I'm going to try this tomorrow. 🤞 Thank you.
I can't wait for my Pilea to get that big! She's quite small compared to yours and I've only had mine for 2 mos, but already bloomed flowers!
Hello from Ken in Japan another great video. I enjoy watching your videos. I also love to see your beauty besides the plants
Omg please please please do do a nursery tour in China!! I haven’t been to one myself either🤣
I really enjoyed this video keep growing
Gorgeous plants,I hope mine will grow big as yours.thanks for sharing...
Thank you for the video! I love the ASMR twist. Any update on the baby propagation and the separation of the 3 mother pileas?
Thanks for the great tips! I recently shared video of mine that I just bought. Mine is outgrowing it’s nursery pot that it came in.
Thanks for showing us how to propagate! I killed the first two pilea peperomioides that I bought. I don't find it easy at all. I had a small one left but found some large ones on sale 2 for $12. I put them in a pot together and will leave the babies alone til they are big. Hopefully, it does well. 💚
I heard some You Tubers paid a $$$ for this plant last year. Now it is everywhere even Walmart for under $10.
Beautiful Beautiful 😍🌱🌵🌵🌿🌱🌵🌿
I divided my pilea I got from hirts garden center. It came to me with 7 total plants in one pot. A while later (abt a month) I hv divided them and they are all thriving. I hv gifted 3 of them. Such a fun plant.
I love you so much from Turkey 🏵🌸
Already looking forward to a video of you visiting plant nurseries in China ;p
That plant is almost as beautiful as you. I have one and I love this plant, thanks for the content.
Full and lush with 3 is looking great..
healthy looking plts👍
I like this video
I would love to know what your care tips are for this plant. I can't figure this plant out. Mine has been limping along for months. So much so, I cut the stem off at the base and attempted to grow a new, stronger plant. I put it in a tall terrarium to encourage faster roots. It started pushing new growth so after a couple of months, I added it back to the shelf with my other plants but it's still failing to thrive. :-(
Plant ASMR 🤣🤣🤣 you got me
I love your pileas, so huge and bright. I have two outside, indirect light. But they are curling down. Please if somebody knows why, I will appreciate the help
HELLLP!! I've been struggling with my Pilea. At first it got root rot and most of the roots fell off, so someone recommended to put it in plain water, so I put it in a clear glass jar until it started to root and that helped for a while. The roots were coming back nicely until I let it sit in the water for too long and then all of a sudden the roots died off again. So now I've been keeping up with changing the water regularly but the Pilea isn't doing anything. It's just sitting in the water surviving with only a few roots. The lighting is pretty good, I have it like 6-8 feet from a SE facing window, so bright, indirect light. I read somewhere but never confirmed it to try to keep the root from getting intense light, so I wrapped some black tape around it and let's see what happens. My next step is to try repotting into some fresh soil and hope that it gets motivated to grow roots again. I don't want it to die, it's a tri-Pilea mother plant like Jolene's. ANY suggestions from anyone would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! End essay.
Change the water every week and rinse the roots. Give it time.
Use distilled water or rainwater only and don't let it sit in the water. Make sure the soil is thoroughly dry before watering.
thanks for sharing this video. what would be the reason why the leaves are falling off. mine isnt as full like yours😔 ty
I just gave two friends their own pilea babies from my mother plant. I remind them to water when I water the mother 😂
Stephanie Violet you are an awesome friend 👍
I am so gonna do this with my bestfriend and remind her the same 😅🤣🤣
I really wanted this plant and when I found one I was so happy. But now it died! I don’t know if I over watered or under watered. But I couldn’t save it! 😢
Hi Jolene! What is the soil mix do you use for your adult plants. In details please. I need to report two my pileas. Thank you very much in advance!
Thanks for your video - informative. Here in Toronto, Ontario, Canada these plants are not easy to find and when you do find them, they are expensive 18.00 for a small young Pilea (also known as UFO plants due to their flying saucer shape).
Hi I bought 2 at Walmart, 7 dollars for each of them.
Ушундай гулдор биздин уйубуздо осот 👍сонун гулдор экен😊🇰🇬
I hv a new pilea plnt .... Its so beautiful to look at ... Honestly...... Such a beautiful plnt.... The trouble is i hv noticed white patches behind d leaves .....i wanna knw Wat cud d reason be ..... N a lil bit of yellow leaves tooo..... I hope i have not over watered it ...... Is der any thing i cn do to save my lil pilu .... I love her so much.....
I thought you were kidding when you took out the knife BUT NOPE! OUR GIRL MEANS BUSINESS! HAHAH
You're so gentle with pulling out the babies. If I did, I would spill the soil all over the places and casualty will occur with the branches!
🌿Plant ASMR🌿 🤣 Honestly, it stressed me out watching you simply “break” the babies off and run a knife through the soil😟😂 I repotted 3 pilea babies a couple weeks ago and was seriously so gentle and careful when cutting them from the base of the mother plant. However, your method is a good reminder that plants are SO resilient and adaptable💪🏼💯🌿 Where did you find a pilea this giant?!🤩
Ty for the video. How are the babies and mother plants doing? I'm going to try and separate my baby plant from its mother this weekend!. Update please. Ty
Sad you took the plant apart. It was beautiful as was. Potting up the babies was all that was needed.
My pilea is so slow. I haven't gotten any babies 😪
me toooooo :(
Any tips for why my leaves are browning on edges? And malformed. Almost like something is taking a bite
I’ve had mine for a bout a year and it can’t get it to grow..... it does have babies... irk what i’m doing wrong any suggestions?!
i wish i could get my hands on that beauty.. :(
I like the term "plant blind"
Does anyone know why does it curl down with a little bubbles on it, I read its normal but I don't know
What do you do to the plant that not go very high ?
In Sweden we call them Elephant Ear 🌸
In the USA we have an Elephant Ear, but it it a huge tropical outdoor plant, usually planted in the ground, with very large leaves.
Your pilea is super healthy seems like it's your bank account is also very healthy 🙏
Did you do a follow up o these?
in TIBET and around the Himalayas these do indeed grow like weeds
What are you wearing it’s so cute!!
Help! My pilea hasn't really grown at all! It is in a well draining soil perlite/potting mix. Pot has draining and is in indirect sunlight... no idea what I'm doing wrong. Id love to make some more babies and for them to survive
they like a lot of light
Thanks for this - I have some pancake babies I was just about to re-pot and I’ve never done it before so this was very helpful!
Anyone have any advice on black spots on my pilea?
It just started on the lowest leaves after 2 years of good plant health. No changes to watering or light. I’ve read that it’s either mold, fungus or bacterial infection but I can’t figure out which and I assume treatment varies.
They’re big black spots, no yellow halo; the damaged leaves are yellowing and falling off. I’ve removed any remaining affected leaves and moved the plant away from others FYI (but it was so close to a bunch of prayer plants & succulents that I’m worried it may have spread before I noticed :-(
Any tips would be greatly appreciated since I’m not finding pertinent videos when I search (and although I love my indoor jungle, I’m actually a pretty terrible plant mom - just don’t have the knack 😬 🍃💀)
Persephomes pomegranate did you find out the black spots in your pilea? Yesterday I found some black spots on mine and I went to the nursery where I bought it but as usual nobody knows anything this days they told me maybe too much water or fungus. As you I can't find any information.
@@laly6980 maybe too much sun?
@@bmorena I don't think so It is been 2 years that she is on the same place.
check the roots...it could be a sign of rotting roots too..good luck and let us know how you get on!
How are you and your husband and plants doing i was holding my breath the whole time
Somewhere around the world, a plant is a weed. In other parts of the world, it’s “rare”. Lol! Hence, paying an arm and leg for weeds. Lol
That's why I pull wild creeping charlie. It's a weed they sell as a house plant.🤗
Could always grow your own weeds
how to encourage this plant to grow a thick strong stalk like a tree?
Great video, I recently got 2 Pileas and one of them is starting to have black leaves that look like burn. I have it in a bright indirect light. Any thoughts???? The other is doing fine.
sounds like they are being over watering or under watering. Before watering them, check the soil about an inch deep with your finger. If it's moist, don't water and wait. Don't go by the look of the top soil, it's misleading.
Frost bite and too much light
What kind of soil you use thanks. Canada
Jolene.....my leaves are light green. How can I get them dark like yours?
Thanks for your advice. Going to move to less light! Thanks
Will the leaves grow back in the same spot where it fall off
Unfortunately not😔 a few of my leafs fell off and it looks so malnourished now
Is it me or does it look like she is cutting CHOCOLATE CAKE!!!!!!!
🍫 🎂 LOL
You are adorable
Please also do a plant ASMR lol
Why is it that the leaves of my pileas are curled up.
Do think cactus soil is better
Can I repot it even in the winter time.?
I think it depends on where you live. Here in LA, we have warm weather all year round, so it doesn't really matter too much. If you are in colder climate, then it's better to wait until Spring!
@@JoleneFoliage thank you so much
Can I get a piece of the plant 🌱
My plants doesn’t grow like that and it’s very healthy and beautiful
Wherebcan i buy chinese money plant in philippines
Gilly, I got one from an Etsy vendor and one more from Amazon! It’s easy to get!
Wow this is crazy. She could have slowly separated the roots but instead she cut them like a birthday cake with a hugeass knife lol
Hi there, you be Lin o ell a couple o pups?
That kind of plant don’t like cold weather
The leaves of mine turned black
Pilea.eu vi cima praia tem esquece. Pegar eu plantar .😒😔

I don’t like the mother plants 🌱 separate it was so pretty.
I bought a baby pilea for 13$ on amazon :/
Me too and just got yesterday from CA, and it doesn’t look too good! 😢 I got another one from an Etsy vendor and my luck, the post office sent it all over TX till finally after two weeks I got and was dead! Can’t believe it! I hope this new one I just received survive!
What’s your wechat name?😺
In Europe this plant costs 2€ 😂
Oh girl why didn't you tease all the dirt and roots out to try to keep the mother plant's root systems in tact a bit more? I can't imagine how many roots they all just lost! 🙀
So cool can you send me one or order 10 from china a dollar i will have ten LOL
You should never cut it like that!
