Something I love about this movie is that, while there's a lot of camp, the movie is very serious about the aliens being scary and threatening. There's something breathtaking about the football game scene, how the camera sweeps at eye level as the dread sinks in.
I'm SO glad you talked about the gay allegory. I've always been drawn into what I eventually realized was "queer media." The lesbian "winning" by getting a boyfriend has always pissed me off. We already deal with misogyny from both straight and gay men and we don't need to be fixed, especially not by a man. They're often the reason why people are broken in the first place. I'm so happy I stumbled across your channel, I have been binging your content for two days now and I can't wait for next stuff! THANK YOU
Another major theme that is universal to all teenagers, but especially to queer teenagers, is the idea that you can't trust adults and they don't have your best interests at heart. They're no smarter or kinder or better than the kids bullying you, they're just older.
I just subscribed to the channel this evening and immediately started to binge your videos. I've only seen a few so far, but I'm super glad RUclips recommended one of your vids to me! You make great points while providing well thought out analyses, insert humor when it's appropriate or can lighten the tone of heavier subject matter (without it coming across as disrespectful), and are such a handsome man to look at!! What's not to love? Lol

Clea Duvall is so gorgeous in this movie I always thought she was the best looking one
Oh man this is one of those movies I watched as a teen and totally loved. But as an adult it's painful how off some of this is.
Stan is my favorite.
