Very good idea, it much better for multiple start threading

if he extended the r/h cutting tool it would cut deeper thus cutting down the process, at the minute what is he achieving

What advantage does this threading tool with 2 cutting edges have? I don't see anyone. He wants to make a screw with a thread pitch of 2 mm. It shows the distance between the two cutting edges as approx. 10 mm and that is 5 thread turns and therefore a pitch of 2 mm. If you slow down the video speed (0.25x speed) at 9:30 you can see that the feed of the lathe is set to 2mm per revolution. The right of the two cutting edges follows 5 spindle revolutions later, more or less exactly in the same track as the left cutting edge. And therefore it is not a multi-start thread.
Both cutting edges are also set to the same diameter, so there are no differences between roughing and finishing cutting edges. The right cutting edge shouldn't actually make any chips - the fact that it does so is due to the manufacturing tolerance - the exact size of the cutting tips is certainly not 10.0mm apart (that's not how you measure it like in the video) - and if the real distance is, for example, 10.05 mm or 9.95mm, then the second cutting edge makes chips.
And the right cutting edge automatically stops at a distance of 10 mm from the end of the actual thread and does not finish it.
Sorry, I have been designing cutting tools in Germany for over 20 years - I don't find any functional advantage here.
If I'm wrong, I'd be happy to receive a well-founded explanation.

All these people talking multistart threads. It is just a single start firts cutter does the hard work the second cutter follows behind. In theory it should mean fewer passes but if you look at the screw threads he was not going for finish.. even a rub with a wire brush cleans up and removed burs.

I am missing the point of the tandem tool bits. What is the purpose of the one closest to the tailstock? If is is set to take a deeper cut than the one to the left then it cannot finish out the cut all the way to the thread runout. Or is this a double lead thread? If so, where do you find a double lead nut?
