Here's a video directory to save you guys some time. Hyped to see what you create! Also, I'm hyped to announce that I've dropped a comprehensive beginner photography course! It's over 9 hours of brand new content and it covers shooting, editing in Lightroom, buying the best gear, and marketing your work online. Check it out here! bit.ly/katzcourse Thanks for all your support
I've binge-watched all of your tutorials in the past two days :) (awesome btw) and one of the things you suggest is to autofocus and then switch to MF so the camera doesn't refocus. Wouldn't it be easier to use AF lock or back-button focus to set the focus before you recompose?
Just a question, can't I just skip using manual mode by darkening my subject in aperture priority mode by simply decreasing the exposure compensation (darkening the shadows)? Is this the same thing?
You can take great sunset shots with focal length of lens you'd like. Just depends how close you are to your foreground subject - sometimes you'll want a wide angle, other times a telephoto. ND filters can be great for sunsets, too. You might enjoy my photo course, which covers this type of stuff and SO much more for beginners. bit.ly/myphotocourse. Enjoy and good luck!
Question. What if you don't have much light...such as in the woods but want people and a certain tree to all be in silhouette ? Any help there ? There's a 150 yr old tree I want to get my husband and son under but it's in the woods ...not open sky behind it or much in front....how can I achieve this? ANY help from Josh and anyone else will be much appreciated.
You can do it on android. You just need to figure out how to decrease the exposure. My suggestion is to decrease the exposure halfway through then by editing the photo you can complete the silhouette. Otherwise even the background would look too dark
I believe he's in "Aperture Priority" mode. So the camera operator chooses the aperture and has a locked in ISO, and the camera's software figures out what shutter speed is needed to properly expose the photo. It's basically used as a way for the photographer to quickly and easily choose the right depth of field they are going for, and the camera automatically compensates.
i did a picture in my room at 5:30 am sun rise and placed my hand and took a picture with my camera and 2 days later tried to do it again since it looked nice but forgot how i did it so here i am now 5:26 am…

I always get hyped when Josh Katz uploads! Keep it up, great content!
I loved the attitude. Very amusing and full of beans for photography, which can get a little boring to be honest, and I have watched loads of VT's.
Thank you for the tips! I'll be trying a silhouette shoot later this week.
This is exciting. I love your tutorials! Im in a photo 2 class this semester and im so ready to get creative

Thank you Josh, really helpful ❤️

Was just searching about it. Thanks
Your tutorials are to the point....they help a lot...😉
Awesome video. Thanks, man!
Would a 35mm or 50mm prime be ideal for some sunset photos and should I incorporate my ND filters?

Bingo....I love taking not being IN photos myself. LoL
@@joshkatz Hahaha so true!
If you set your camera up for back button focus, you will not have to switch the lens back and form from MF to AF..
Do you still skate
