Yes, as other commenters have mentioned...the reference about "I had a dream - I got everything I wanted" is about a dream that she had where she committed suicide and dies by jumping off of the Golden Gate Bridge. However, she awakens from her dream and finds that she is still here (and alive). She is disappointed by the realization that it was just a dream - she had thought that she died (which apparently is what she had wanted). The nightmare reference is for those that would be left behind after her death. Her brother and friend, then comforts her (and tries to quell her self loathing/insecurities/self hate) by telling her "as long as I am here no one can hurt you...if I can change the way that you see yourself, you wouldn't wonder why you're here..". This is a beautiful and sad song. Billie Eilish must've been born an old soul - she is so expressive, relatable and illustrates the human condition/human existence. Art at its best. I truly hope that she stays around creating artistically beautiful music and videos, and doesn't get "everything she wanted'.
This is a great analysis, but saying she's an old soul isn't true. Just because she's young doesn't mean she can't be very aware of the human condition and know how to express her feelings. Gen z especially in my opinion are pretty mature and just because someone is young doesn't mean they don't understand the world. I mean she is pretty childish at times too.
That was her brother in the car. They are a true songwriting pair. They made her album in his bedroom. They are the real deal. I’m a middle aged white guy and I was skeptical and cynical, but they have more than won me over. They have substance. I look forward to watching them progress.
I too am a middle aged white guy who grew up on Ac/dc GnR and Grunge. After 6 months of doing my best to ignore this artist, I finally gave her a listen and I am completely obsessed. She is young and beautiful, completely oblivious to any genre she may belong to, very intelligent and creative and loves her brother, who is essentially the musical backbone to all of it. I honestly get vibes of Stevie Nicks and Don Henley for some reason. An icon is blooming here.
@M 40 I completely agree. Their parents are wise people. A musician and an actor, who home schooled them. I honestly think they may have it all worked out.. but it’s very early days as you say.
Ha ha look at all of us 'olds'. I'm 55, too, and love their music. I've been waiting for someone outstanding to come along since 'alternative' rock faded away. There's a wide demographic that likes her, but it's funny that the majority of her fans are young enough to be our children or grandkids.
*billie singing about suicide* “she should probably have him drive. she looks tired.” “well he doesn’t look too alert himself!” unnecessary edit: woee i’ve never had over 1k likes thank you
Lifelong metalhead here ✋ And Billie Eilish fan. REALLY been diggin her and her amazingly talented brother's musically artistic creations. VERY nice flow and form to all they do and then she just comes out and executes the lyrics in such a PURE way.
Fizzee I think metal has been hijacked by this hypermasculine, somewhat misogynist minority - yaknow, the people whose main concern is going “heavy” and “hard” enough. I was into metal for a long time but association with these types of people have lo ng made me not want to go to events.
I second that. Being a metal head myself, when I put the iPod on shuffle, it sows confusion.. Bjork, to death metal, to classic rock, to abba, to Prince.. When you love music, you love it. I love lady Gaga, and I get hella shit for that. Billie doesn't have a bad track, at all. I also appreciate the Bjork reference, because that's what I thought the first time I heard her.
Billie directed this video.Rewatch it. Notice... - the lights on top of the buildings flash the notes - the light posts go by on the beat -the trees go by on the beat - Billie blinks on the beat - the street lights also hit the beat. Billie and Finneas put so many details layered into the tracks. Everything they do is with purpose and has meaning, even if it’s just to them . And while she has said what songs are about TO HER she believes that if it has a different meaning to you then THAT is what it’s about.
Her music really doesn't have a genre. I like calling it Anti-Pop And the video and music was about an actual dream she had where she committed suicide (Billie has talked a lot about her struggles with depression) and when she woke up, she went and told her brother about it and her fears and the chorus was exactly what he said to her. He was also the passenger of the car! I personally think driving into the water wasn't about death and killing herself, but her feelings. She feels like she's drowning and no one can understand the ocean of feelings she has overwhelming her, but her brother is always there with her no matter how deep she sinks. Her music really hits hard especially with me and other people who had had dreams of dying or suicide. It's real and emotional and it can really bring you to tears
I too am an older gentleman brought up on classic rock and was a metalhead myself in my youth, and it's been about 3 weeks since I found Billie's music and got sucked into the lyrics, production, and passion of her music. Not every song is for every person, but I think what's interesting about her is that even songs I don't necessarily like I can still relate to, even if only by remembering the emotional mess I was as a kid.
A friend mentioned her a while back so I watched some vids, just killer, then watched a few live concerts, she has her crowds in the palm of her hands, has them jumping like mad and shouting back all the lyrics, she even has the crowd open up some pits, which was odd but pretty cool since they're not Slayer -haha And who is that guy on keyboard and bass? Looked up more info and learned that's her brother playing live with her, and they both composed and produced that album from his simple bedroom studio at their parents house. They thought that album out very carefully, the lyrics, each track and where they fall into place on the album creating a song or story arc, which is something rock and metal bands do, not pop artists that generally make albums of radio singles that have no real overall theme. Can she get any cooler?
She said one of the goals when creating the album was that no matter what genres people like, that they would be able to find at least one song on the album that they liked. I think she succeeded with that!
@@chacojones4474 Now that she has everyones attention I'm stoked to hear what they come up with next, might be a little while but that's alright, we waited 13 freaking years for a new Tool album, it won't take that long haha
@@m.ericwatson968 yeah, I always find it funny when some of my younger online friends talk about how torturous it is to wait 6 months for content from their favorite artists when we used to wait years, sometimes decades.
Ugh damn... I'm a huge Billie fan which must be why this showed up on my recommended. I'm sort of a former metalhead, and I thought who would understand this song better than a couple of metalheads? Half the reason you listen to metal is because you hear the deep, personal lyrics and understand them at a level that not everyone else does. This honestly brought a tear to my eye just seeing how deeply you understood this song. Billie's music has been mocked by the masses for being too emotional and calling it teen angst or just trying to be edgy. It soothes my soul to just see someone Get It.
The song is about a dream that she did, she suicide (I step of the golden, gate Bridge of course ) and nobody cared. The only one that was there for her was her brother.
Billie and Finneas are beautiful songwriters, I hate when my parents are like "she's good but she's boring I dont get it." Honestly if you listen to her lyrics it's so soulful and angelic ya know
I’m not even old I’m 21 and I think she’s pretty boring tbh, she has a very few decent songs but that’s about it. A lot of her songs sound way to similar, but in all honesty almost every artist nowadays usually drop music that sound the same. I understand she has good lyrics very meaningful but like I said most of her music sounds the same. Her voice is nice even though it sound like she’s whispering throughout the whole song but in that new 007 song she made she go off a bit so good sh*t on that.
Emily Willis: The majority of folks lose their soul as they age. I guess a 1001 small disappointments in life wears them down to the point they can no longer experience the magic of the universe. I’m old. Most old people disappoint me. Momentarily they sometimes come out of their stupor but unfortunately it’s usually not because of discovering something new (Billie in this case) but because something from their past - an old favorite song maybe - momentarily transports them back in time to when they were happy. This is of course a stereotype. There are many older folks with very open minds and spirits. They are the happy ones. But they are in the minority. Billie and Finneas are amazing artists. I discovered them 2 years ago. I do worry they are getting over-exposed lately. I hope they take some major time off and disappear for awhile. They need a much deserved break to decompress and reflect. To recharge their prodigious talent. I’ve seen too many young great artists burn out because the music industry tends to be insidious and sucks talent dry.
@@godlyaardvark7265 my man and I own a go mango challenger hellcat haha so I know the difference! I mean, if she does own a widebody RedEye that's bad ass too!
You can tell the moment they actually start listening to what she's saying and the joking stops (not that the joking is bad) but that moment it kicks in that "Holy shit this is dark and deep" was huge.
When Billie Eilish says that she got "Everything She Wanted" in the song, I always believed she was talking about her death. This idea is made clearer in the line that what she wants would also be "a nightmare for everyone who might care." The people who care for her would hate for her to die, but she is dealing with these suicidal thoughts. Damn I love her lyrics.
It sounds like a conversation between her brother and her. He's telling her that all the people saying these mean things don't deserve her. Sounds like their each others support system.
I'm getting that you're taking a liking to her darker vibe. In that case you should watch the videos for Bury A Friend and You Should See Me In A Crown (vertical video, not the Murakami-version). Both songs and the videos have a darker more sinister vibe. Bury A Friend is completely made in her vision, and part of it is inspired by her own night terrors. On another note: She just made grammy history at the age of 18 last night. She won in 5 of the top categories with her debut album. And the album was produced together with her brother in his bedroom. No fancy studio, no ghost writers, none of that. Immensely proud of this kid, having followed her since 2017 when the video for Bellyache came.
I heard about that right after it happened. She deserves it! I'm glad something that sounds like this has caught on more. Thanks for watching and thank you very much for the comment, reading them is what I like best about doing this.
The car she's driving in the video is hers in real life it was her dream car she finally got it end of 2018 but only got her license beginning of 2019 she's just turned 18.
I love that you guys actually paid attention to the lyrics. Most reactions I’ve seen to her videos have all been concentrating on the shock value she gives in most of her videos and miss the actual message of the song.
She’s to blame for that. Music Videos should be interesting but if your video is directed interesting and ends up commonly taking away attention from the lyrics of the song then whoever contributed to the direction of the video is to blame for that not the fans
Hello! So first, that matte black Dodge Challenger she is driving in the video is her car. She loves cars, and has spoken about loving Challengers and bought that as her first car. Calls it her Baby. So Car Guy, you have a kindred spirit in her. Second, Srsly, if you haven’t listened to anything else she has done or seen the videos, you REALLY should. She and her brother Fineas are both outstanding songwriters and he is an effing genius at producing. Both Billie and Fineas have done some great interviews, especially together, about how they work. They are both Artists in the true sense of that word. They also both have Synesthesia, which is fascinating. As far as the next videos you should check out, if only to enjoy them yourselves, although reactions would be nice....( if the blonde guy liked the darkness in “everything I wanted”, I love to see your reactions to “Billie Eilish - you should see me in a crown (Official video by Takashi Murakami)” where Takashi has put a cgi suit on Billie and made an anime version of her...and then a monster..., also the official “Bury a Friend” video, which uses a lot of horror movie-type visuals, and if you like dark coupled with achingly beautiful, “When the party’s over”, and yes she really drank what was in the glass and no, the eye thing wasn’t cgi, it was done with tubes and apparently stung like hell, but she’s a trooper. She said she got pretty roughed up during the the Bury a Friend video too, but wanted it that way because it shows how helpless she feels when in the grip of sleep paralysis (although the needles aren’t real in that video. She said she thought she could probably take it, but the director and everyone else in the room said “No way in hell.”) Bury a friend has several different themes weaving it together, from her experiences with sleep paralysis to her considering what the monster under your bed would say if you talked to it) Incidentally, “everything I wanted” has references to her sleep paralysis too, and overall the song is about a dream she had in real life, mixed with the dark side of swift and extreme fame (esp the kind of fucked up things people think they can say to and about people without considering or caring about any consequences) and Fineas’ real response to her after she told him the dream, which was basically the chorus. That he is always there for her. That when she gets lost in the dark, he’ll find her, he will pull her back from the brink. He will walk her path with her so she knows she isn’t alone. That he will always protect her, even from her own misconceptions of herself, and that the people who do say terrible, unforgivable things don’t deserve the emotion she feels because of them. And she has also said the song is also her promise back to him. She is there for him no matter what. That she will protect him as fiercely as he will her. Their whole family dynamic is awesome and what family should be. This girl is a bright spot. Her songs are often dark, which I think is why so many people, especially young girls, relate to it. They feel what she has, but see her music as working through it and working on triumphing over it. But it isn’t just girls or kids into her. It doesn’t seem to matter what age or gender people are, or what genres they like, once they hear the music they are caught. Dave Grohl heard Billie because of his daughter and has gushed about how much he loves her stuff. Thom Yorke, Billy Armstrong, a whole slew of bands, singers, and rappers have remarked how much they like her (and Fineas) Fineas wrote “Ocean eyes” when he was 16 or 17, and she sung it at 13 years old. If you look it up and play it, that is the version they recorded in his tiny bedroom studio in their family’s house. That was the song that introduced her to the world. They did a great ep after that, and then early 2019 the album “ when we all fall asleep, where do we go” dropped. They recorded that album in the same tiny bedroom as everything else and every song on that album hit the charts. She just turned 18 in Sept 2019, and he is 22. Fineas has been a sought after producer in the industry for years now because he’s so good. These people are YOUNG and they are THIS GOOD. And, as well, deeply interesting people. There is my way-too-long, but still brief, Billie Eilish 101 for you. I hope you do more reaction videos concerning her. Thanks for your Reactions channel!😀
I have grapheme-color synesthesia. It’s a neato curio to hear that they have synesthesia as well. I do believe it’s been a benevolent force in my life, however sometimes I’ve felt so far away from everybody’s general temporal landscape that I just absolutely cannot tolerate it. I never get many chances to talk to other people experiencing something similar.
That is her personal car she is making a tribute to. She said in an interview that it was her dream car, and she knew she had "made it" the day she bought it.
She got it for her bday. She walked in and they had given her a cake and then they surprised her with the car! Her dream car- matte black Dodge Challenger. 🕷🕸💀
The Fist time i had my wife listen to her a few years ago i said she kinda sounds like fiona apple . Im glad to hear others had that as their first impressions of her also
The lyrics from this song about going to her head what they've said are especially topical for Billie right now, as after Grammies she is mercilessly bullied in all social networks by rabid fans of Ariana Grande and others', who lost Grammies to her. They bash her, say, that she can't sing, call her songs trash, etc. I know it affects me as a fan of her music, imagine, how it affects her.....Your reaction is a reminder for me, that there still are some decent and unbiased people on RUclips. Thank you.
FYI sense you guys are into cars the car was given to her from her record company for all the success she's had. Billie just got her drivers license so it was a pretty big deal for her. Also I take it she is into challengers check out her video "Watch" it is all challengers!
How to become as good as Billie. 1. Go to Best Buy and buy an open box return laptop for $350. 2. Go to Guitar Center and buy a Shure SM57 for $99. 3. Go to a slam poetry session at your local vegan coffee shop and steal the lyrics. 4. Snort some lorazepam. 5. Download Acid Pro 6.You got a hit.
I went to a Billie Eilish concert...knew of her but thought it'd be an alright night. Left that concert and downloaded EVERYTHING I COULD GET MY HANDS ON! She has the voice of a fucking angel! It was...wow. Just wow.
everything i wanted Billie Eilish I had a dream I got everything I wanted Not what you'd think And if I'm being honest It might've been a nightmare To anyone who might care Thought I could fly (fly) So I stepped off the golden, mm Nobody cried (cried, cried, cried, cried) Nobody even noticed I saw them standing right there Kinda thought they might care (might care, might care) I had a dream I got everything I wanted But when I wake up, I see You with me And you say, "As long as I'm here No one can hurt you Don't wanna lie here But you can learn to If I could change The way that you see yourself You wouldn't wonder why you're here They don't deserve you" I tried to scream But my head was underwater They called me weak Like I'm not just somebody's daughter It could've been a nightmare But it felt like they were right there And it feels like yesterday was a year ago But I don't wanna let anybody know 'Cause everybody wants something from me now And I don't wanna let 'em down I had a dream I got everything I wanted But when I wake up, I see You with me And you say, "As long as I'm here No one can hurt you Don't wanna lie here But you can learn to If I could change The way that you see yourself You wouldn't wonder why you're here They don't deserve you" If I knew it all then would I do it again? Would I do it again? If they knew what they said would go straight to my head What would they say instead? If I knew it all then would I do it again? Would I do it again? If they knew what they said would go straight to my head What would they say instead? Source: LyricFind
Brothers I'm 57 and immediately became a fan with her song "Bad Guy " and started following her and her brother and have not been let down yet ! I would suggest you guys start at the beginning of her published career and just enjoy the ride !! Seriously , I can listen to her all day !
this is exactly what i wanted.. i wanted the people who never came to knew about her reviewed at least one of her music and video and honestly gave a review about them. both of this guy were very honest and trueeeeeee.. so gentleman and well-mannered. That guy with hair even apologise for roasting the circumstances over circumcision. hahahaha... they got humour that makes me burst a laughter. thanks both of you for the honest review.
i only just now found this channel and this video, and i dont know these dudes at all, but seeing the dude to the left look so touched by the line "Thought I could fly, so I stepped off the Golden, nobody cried, nobody even noticed" made me burst into tears. so here i am, crying, watching two metalhead dudes listening to billie eilish
Thank you. Yes, what Bowzer said. And whatever you do, do not watch our reaction to Billie's "When the party's over". That is my least metal moment on the channel so far.
I literally cried the first time I heard it. I immediately got the bridge reference and just....you know. Everything she said afterward I honestly felt a relation to. Just a sad song that I can’t not tear up to when I sing along.
Yeah, as soon as she said "The Golden Gate" I knew what it was alluding to and then it became a lot more serious and relatable. It's comforting in some ways though. Thank you very much for the comment
i really like y’all’s dynamic. it’s so fun to watch videos like this where it’s two friends just having a good time. it’s so genuine in a way that a lot of content online isn’t anymore. like y’all aren’t putting on a show or overreacting for the camera. it’s just genuine and so fun to watch.
She has depression. She had a dream about commiting suicide and no one cared she was gone. She woke up and her brother comforted her. She just turned 18 and her brother is only a few years older than her. She won five Grammys this year. Youngest person to ever win so many. They write all of their songs and record them in her brothers bedroom. They are pretty legit. Definitely worth looking further into some of her music.
I always interpretated the lyrics.. "I had a dream I got everything I wanted. But when I wake up I see you with me" as her saying that she wants to die so bad.. and she had a dream that she died.. so her song is describing her dream... And when she wakes up she sees her brother... Feels the love he has for her and it helps. Like a light at the end of a very dark tunnel. The corus is finneas talking to her and the part where she says "if I knew it all then would I do it again would I do it again? If they knew what they said would go straight to my head what would they say instead?" To me means that finneas kinda talked some sense into her. She now knows how loved she is and stuff.
Billie wrote "i had a dream i got everything i wanted" back when she was in a really bad place after she had a dream she commited suiced by jumping off the golden gate bridge and none of her friends cared and they all came out and said that they never liked her. Some lyrics are finneas talking to her "if i could change the way that you see yourself you wouldnt wonder why youre here" etc. But when billie went into a better headpace and finally became happy again she added to the first line "i had a dream i got everything i wanted, *not what youd think, and if im being honest it mightve been a nightmare*" where shes saying that it was what she wanted in the past and it wasnt what youd think like fame or fortune but death and if shes being honest it mightve been a nightmare because she went into a better headpace and she realised that she didnt wanna die anymore
1:46 Me: *getting ready to turn my sound up* Him: *"you turned it down ya dork"* *both turn sound up at the same time* My eardrums: *never heard of them*
So glad you watched this and it really got to me seeing you get the messages on a deeper level. Billie actually suffers from Tourette syndrome which she said is a daily struggle and particularly brutal at night. She also has suffered from Severe depression at times, general anxiety as well as separation anxiety. She was feeling much better but then was attacked by media & jealous fans and can't even read her own Instagram because people were so cruel. She started crying at the British Music Awards because she said she had been so sad and down. Then she saw everyone smiling and happy to see her and she started crying saying they made her feel so much more liked/loved while accepting her award. I am a grown woman 53 and I love her music. It connects on a very deep level for me and it must be so cathartic for her. She and her brother Finneas are just amazing song writers. They don't put out mass amounts of music but put all their efforts into one album. The have a song which for example took 1 year to finish. Now that is commitment imho. I cannot wait to see what they do next. I truly hope that she isn't pushed away or doesn't end up isolating herself. It's easy to do when someone suffers from depression and people can be so cruel. Some love to build people up just to take them down. I hope she can see past it and see many more people truly love her & her bros music.
People like her music because everyone can relate on it...fun fact. in some of her interview, she's having fun when people have different kind of perceptions about her music ..
I’m so glad I stumbled across this. And I’m so happy to see people who truly appreciate music, react to artists that are very talented. I’m so happy that Billie is reaching across genres and is getting the recognition she deserves.
Okay, the real lyrics are about her having a dream, where she had everything she wanted, and then she passes away (takes her life away). And then she sees that no one's actually affected by her death. People talk about how they didn't like her in the first place. This dream of hers, would be a nightmare to anyone who actually cares. When she wakes up from that dream, she sees her brother by her side (the only person who has always been by her side and has never given up on her). His brother tells her that as long as he's there, no one's going to hurt her, and if he could change the way she sees herself, she'd realise why "they" (people in her life) don't deserve her. She realises how people are in her life, but still she gives them whatever they ask of her, because she doesn't want to let them down. I feel like it's a very special song. Tells how desperate a person can be, and how just one person believing in them can mean the world to them.
This song was written about Billie having a dream about committing suicide, when she woke up she told her brother and the part after she says, "I woke up and you were right there." is what he said to her.
if I remember correctly, the song is about her dream, when she died and the closest people didn't even care. But (if I remember correctly) her brother comforted her and helped her to get back into reality, so to speak. I think that's the meaning behind "But when I wake up I see you with me and you say: As long as I'm here no one can hurt you". So I suppose this song is about their bond.
Please do more of her videos/songs! She and her brother are amazingly talented, most of her songs are dark and pretty moving, plus the videos are bonkers, you'd love them.
Bury a Friend, You should see me in a crown (vertical video) and When the Party's Over are really interesting visually, I'd recommend ye check them out!
You two hard ass rockers just your socks knocked off. Very cool how your demeanor changes towards the the end of the song. Good job guys. Subscription is done.
First time visiting y’all’s channel and I’m now a subscriber. I loved watching your faces as everything progressed in the video and the commentary was lovely. sincere reaction videos are my favorite 💛 Billie is just incredible and so is Finneas. highly recommend Die Alone by Finneas and i love you by Billie when y’all get a chance 💛 their entire catalog is straight fire though tbh so go wild. “you should see me in a crown” is a sick workout beat (crazy videos too - watch both of them), “bury a friend” is insanely catchy and also has a stellar video, and “lovely” just makes me want to weep because it’s so dang pretty 😭 Billie directed this video and also one for “xanny” and Y’ALL she can do anything she sets her mind to. If you really pay attention to the details in both videos- everything is so minutely and perfectly choreographed to the music - I just canNOT even. Pure talent I swear.
I really appreciate your honesty in this review, you were both joking around and comparing her to past artists. Talking about the car and expecting the same old Crap but still giving it a fair listen. I knew it was all going to change by the end of the song, I was waiting to see the transformation happen. And sure enough it totally did. Like so many people (myself included) “oh shit” moment where you realize that the music Billie and Finneas Eilish are producing is shockingly good. If this song hasn’t already compelled you to listen to the rest of their music you really should. Also watch the Carpool Karaoke video featuring Billie it doesn’t explain this video specifically but it does give you a cool glimpse into who she is and how her and her brother produced their first album. Any way good job guys you just gained a new fan I’ll subscribe to your channel.
When did they think they're cooler? Listening to a different genre of music and being open to listening to something the complete opposite of what they usually listen to is something most ignorant people never do. If anything they're better as human beings than most because of the fact that they're capable of being open minded, unlike most people who see or hear something they don't like, they judge it without knowing anything about it.
I was glad to hear you guys give this a good review. This isn't my typical genre of music, but I absolutely love this song, and a couple others of hers. She and her brother are very gifted.
Watching people who have a true love of music is so satisfying. There are so many people who will only listen to one genre and act like all others are trash. seeing some people who are able to enjoy something that they wouldn't normally listen to is a real treat.
I feel like it's a visual representation of the immense pressure they are both under now... That at the end of the day be careful what you say and her brother is always there for her as she is for him... Its beautiful.
The album is a unit and each song together tell the story. I have been a fan of Billie for a few years. She is raw and has amazing talent. Good for you guys for going in with an open mind.
They are joking around but they feel the song , especially the bald guy , he was feeling every pitch change and every meaning ... and there whole mood changed by the end of the song too , as anticipated from people who understand music. Their faces with the first note billie sang is amazing. What they love about this song is what i love about this song and i heard it sooooooooooo many times. That moment when she went underwater and the effect changed , i love that. Everytime i hear the line "if they knew what they said would go straight to my head , what would they say instead " love this line so much And i love the protective nature ," as long as i am here , no one can hurt " And" if i could change the way that you see yourself". I just love this song , and the music is unbelievable , the line that keeps repeating and all the effects , i listened to this song for days, and still listen to it .. Tnx for the video guys🌸
Everything she wanted... was to die dude. She dreamed she died or killed herself, and uppon waking up, a loved one (her brother maybe?) was there to comfort her
A lot of her videos have that dark artsy feel to them as does her music. She is definitely not what you would expect. She and her brother are uniquely talented.
The song is about a dream she had. So basically “the thing that she wanted” was to kill herself. That’s why she jumped off the Golden Gate Bridge. Nobody cared that she died, but when she woke up she saw her brother Finneas, who said that nothing would happen as long as they were together
Oh, one more thing I haven't seen in the comments yet. At 3:37-3:43 the place they are driving at is a reference to where they filmed one of her past music videos called 'Bellyache'. And the colour/background where she mentions her brother at the start of this music video was the ending of her previous music video 'Xanny' which has smoke.
Dudes. So i am a metalhead myself. But i also cling to so many genres. I fucking love this song and have been addicted to it for a while. Your video is fucking awesome! Loved your take on it.
I am 30 years old and I listen and attend metal concerts for 15 years. Still respecting her and her brother's work, they are very talented people and they transmit
That's it! You're a lifesaver. That has to go on my nineties playlist. I liked that song and had forgotten it for a long time until that moment here in the vid. Thank you!
This is so relatable and deep. I’ve been there. I have caught myself in those moments where I realize I have everything I need and it felt surprisingly empty., not needing anything else. Like where do you go from there? Our whole existence is about acquiring things. What if you have it all?
Your guys reaction is so genuine, it's also kind of how I felt when I first listened to her. I'd mainly seen screengrabs of the videos or memes before that and thought it was just some shock value video, but listening to her music then seeing the videos in a whole new light that adds to it, I think Billie and Finneas are a really great song writing/song making pair. Watching interviews with them is very revealing as well, the one Finneas did recently on Jimmy Fallon where he went into some of the sounds in the songs that aren't what you think they are is well worth a watch.
I’m a 52 year old metal head and I got the same feeling as I did when I heard nirvana for the first time. That feeling that things are changing and that’s a real good thing. I tired of what music has become. Change is always good I can see this on my playlist right after Tyler’s of pan tang or krokus. Give her and her brother big props for writing and producing in there moms house.that shit is gangsta.
Best song ever!! To sing about your reality is a beautiful thing. She has had dark thoughts. Her brother has been there for her , always! Be kind with your words, they can go in your head, and mess u up.❤️❤️
Yes, as other commenters have mentioned...the reference about "I had a dream - I got everything I wanted" is about a dream that she had where she committed suicide and dies by jumping off of the Golden Gate Bridge.
I read this comment and started to cry a bit. Well written.
Gary Heinstrom saaaame. Heartbreaking
That’s exactly what she’s trying to say in this song.
Oh and no hate, I just wanted to say 😅
That was her brother in the car. They are a true songwriting pair. They made her album in his bedroom. They are the real deal. I’m a middle aged white guy and I was skeptical and cynical, but they have more than won me over. They have substance. I look forward to watching them progress.
Hey, you and me both (all) ;)
I too am a middle aged white guy who grew up on Ac/dc GnR and Grunge.
Heck, I’m soon 55 and I love Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas! Gifted pair! 👏👏👏👏👏🙌
Ha ha look at all of us 'olds'. I'm 55, too, and love their music. I've been waiting for someone outstanding to come along since 'alternative' rock faded away. There's a wide demographic that likes her, but it's funny that the majority of her fans are young enough to be our children or grandkids.
*billie singing about suicide*
“she should probably have him drive. she looks tired.”
“well he doesn’t look too alert himself!”
unnecessary edit: woee i’ve never had over 1k likes thank you
I SHOUTED 😂😂
That was so funny hahaha
Marina Diamandis sings.. “Oh my god I think it’s Karma, oh my god”
i got mad
I cackled, I snorted, and I screamed
Finally some fellow metalheads that appreciate Billie’s talent. Elitists are ruining the great reputation we once had
@Danii Decay nicely said good sir
I've been trying to tell people this for a long time. The best music is made by people who appreciate a really wide range of music.
Notice...
- the lights on top of the buildings flash the notes
- the light posts go by on the beat
-the trees go by on the beat
- Billie blinks on the beat
- the street lights also hit the beat.
Billie and Finneas put so many details layered into the tracks. Everything they do is with purpose and has meaning, even if it’s just to them . And while she has said what songs are about TO HER she believes that if it has a different meaning to you then THAT is what it’s about.
she blinks on the beat too. very noticeable around 0:50
That’s so cool, i hadn’t noticed that before! I wonder if she was inspired by the movie Baby Driver!
Now I’m gonna have to go back and watch the video for the thousandths time.
iamlpinthe312 billie also passed by the desert she danced in during the “bellyache” music video
Bury A Friend from her is a must watch. The video is amazing, way darker, and the meaning behind it is very interesting. Good song too.
Definitely! They'll love that and You Should See Me In a Crown the most
Already done now! :)
Soooo, creepy. I hope she eventually makes a horror movie.
Agree
And the director of the MV is the director of Conjuring 3
Her music really doesn't have a genre. I like calling it Anti-Pop
And the video and music was about an actual dream she had where she committed suicide (Billie has talked a lot about her struggles with depression) and when she woke up, she went and told her brother about it and her fears and the chorus was exactly what he said to her.
RoyalPandemic It’s technically pop because it’s popular but definitely defies the current conventions of pop music.
RoyalPandemic even though I know the meaning of the song, this description literally sent chills down my spine. :((
couldnt have explained it any better..ty
Billie eilish says her music is macabre pop
M 40 The equipment Finneas uses isn’t cheap either, but definitely affordable to even a person who saves making minimum wage.
@@chacojones4474 I saw that in an interview as well, and she definitely succeeded.
@@mouthbreether That makes a lot of sense. I knew there was something I definitely wasn't catching with this first listen. Thanks for the explanation!
She has this gentle tone that cradles and soothes you while you're drowned by the lyrics.
YESS!!!! ("She has this gentle tone that cradles and soothes you while you're drowned by the lyrics")
Your words took my breath away
She's a siren that only speaks truth
Best description ever!
Might sound weird. I'm 32, when I feel deeply depressed and wanting to die, I put on Billie Eilish and I feel better and alive.
OrangeCrush Gamer glad you have something that keeps you here
That does NOT sound weird at all. Music has helped me many many times and will continue to do so. You're not alone, never forget that
28 here, We all love Billie. It's okay, let yourself feel better. :)
I was told that it is creep to enjoy her music because she was 17 at the time.
Why is that weird?
Billie and Finneas are beautiful songwriters, I hate when my parents are like "she's good but she's boring I dont get it." Honestly if you listen to her lyrics it's so soulful and angelic ya know
My mom does that too and it's close-minded.
Boring? I don't very how she is boring. I'm a mom of a 13 yrs old who introduced me to Billie I I feel in love with her and her music.
My mom said the same thing!!
That’s “her” car. It’s her dream car. Clearly they didn’t use her actual car. But it’s her car.
Shes a class act in my opinion.
Correct! That is her real life car guys
She actually doesn't own a Hellcat though, she owns a regular forest green Challenger. Just not a Hellcat.
Andrea Fredette Ikr she has a v6 (I’m not bagging on that at all I think the idea is actually cool) and the she has a redeye in the MV
You are exactly right. I'm surprised that really conveys through on camera like it did but, that is definitely how I felt. Thanks for watching with us
@@sportosp-0158 You are right. It was mainly it mannerisms and the eyes but it YELLED.
I nearly turned off the video before that.
Damn I love her lyrics.
eMATTgination soul crushing. I love her so hard.
She had a dream about her being famous, she dies and no one cared.
Because Metal.
She’s to blame for that. Music Videos should be interesting but if your video is directed interesting and ends up commonly taking away attention from the lyrics of the song then whoever contributed to the direction of the video is to blame for that not the fans
Honestly y’all would probably like all of her music. Should definitely check out more of her videos too
She said she thought she could probably take it, but the director and everyone else in the room said “No way in hell.”) Bury a friend has several different themes weaving it together, from her experiences with sleep paralysis to her considering what the monster under your bed would say if you talked to it)
Incidentally, “everything I wanted” has references to her sleep paralysis too, and overall the song is about a dream she had in real life, mixed with the dark side of swift and extreme fame (esp the kind of fucked up things people think they can say to and about people without considering or caring about any consequences) and Fineas’ real response to her after she told him the dream, which was basically the chorus.
Thom Yorke, Billy Armstrong, a whole slew of bands, singers, and rappers have remarked how much they like her (and Fineas)
Fineas wrote “Ocean eyes” when he was 16 or 17, and she sung it at 13 years old.
I am so obsessed with Finneas and Billie. Truly gifted, amazing and genius x2.
I read everything and thank you. Very useful information. Great comment
100% true except her birthday is on 12/18
I have grapheme-color synesthesia.
Super. Thanks. This summary is excellent and I am a new sub because I am also a metal head. Reactions from metal heads...yay. 🤘🖤🤘 Billie and Finneas ❤
That is her personal car she is making a tribute to. She said in an interview that it was her dream car, and she knew she had "made it" the day she bought it.
Phlipp Bergamot I thought her label gave it to her for her 17 th birthday.
She got it for her bday. She walked in and they had given her a cake and then they surprised her with the car! Her dream car- matte black Dodge Challenger. 🕷🕸💀
The comment you made about her voice being a mix of Fiona Apple and Björk made my day! It’s so true. I love Billie Eilish
The Fist time i had my wife listen to her a few years ago i said she kinda sounds like fiona apple .
Im glad to hear others had that as their first impressions of her also
I'm over 55 and LOVE these two. They are TRULY talented, and I've enjoyed listening to them and their shadow sides very much.
Thank you.
billie”i had a dream”
them *both look at each other in slight shock*
FYI sense you guys are into cars the car was given to her from her record company for all the success she's had. Billie just got her drivers license so it was a pretty big deal for her. Also I take it she is into challengers check out her video "Watch" it is all challengers!
"No matter circumcission" 😂😂😭😭
BAHAH
How to become as good as Billie.
1. Go to Best Buy and buy an open box return laptop for $350.
2. Go to Guitar Center and buy a Shure SM57 for $99.
3. Go to a slam poetry session at your local vegan coffee shop and steal the lyrics.
4. Snort some lorazepam.
5. Download Acid Pro
6.You got a hit.
I went to a Billie Eilish concert...knew of her but thought it'd be an alright night. Left that concert and downloaded EVERYTHING I COULD GET MY HANDS ON! She has the voice of a fucking angel! It was...wow. Just wow.
everything i wanted
Billie Eilish
I had a dream
I got everything I wanted
Not what you'd think
And if I'm being honest
It might've been a nightmare
To anyone who might care
Thought I could fly (fly)
So I stepped off the golden, mm
Nobody cried (cried, cried, cried, cried)
Nobody even noticed
I saw them standing right there
Kinda thought they might care (might care, might care)
I had a dream
I got everything I wanted
But when I wake up, I see
You with me
And you say, "As long as I'm here
No one can hurt you
Don't wanna lie here
But you can learn to
If I could change
The way that you see yourself
You wouldn't wonder why you're here
They don't deserve you"
I tried to scream
But my head was underwater
They called me weak
Like I'm not just somebody's daughter
It could've been a nightmare
But it felt like they were right there
And it feels like yesterday was a year ago
But I don't wanna let anybody know
'Cause everybody wants something from me now
And I don't wanna let 'em down
I had a dream
I got everything I wanted
But when I wake up, I see
You with me
And you say, "As long as I'm here
No one can hurt you
Don't wanna lie here
But you can learn to
If I could change
The way that you see yourself
You wouldn't wonder why you're here
They don't deserve you"
If I knew it all then would I do it again?
Would I do it again?
If they knew what they said would go straight to my head
What would they say instead?
If I knew it all then would I do it again?
Would I do it again?
If they knew what they said would go straight to my head
What would they say instead?

This was my first time watching your guys’ video and this was so wholesome. Haha I’m a big fan of Billie as well and am so happy you enjoyed her!
I love seeing macho metal heads melt over this song.
5 Grammys for her tonight.

Prepare for tears, gentlemen!
LOL when I hear this song I want to cry
Never had seen you too before; loved that you were funny and honest but also kind to her. Total fan, now, I’m subscribing.
💪thank you
Okay, the real lyrics are about her having a dream, where she had everything she wanted, and then she passes away (takes her life away).
It’s about brotherly love. Finneas is always there to protect her when others are mean.
We will
Haha this is awesome! Great title too!
When I first listened to Billie, I said the same thing: 'Fionna Apple and Bjork'
I loved watching your faces as everything progressed in the video and the commentary was lovely. sincere reaction videos are my favorite 💛
Billie is just incredible and so is Finneas. highly recommend Die Alone by Finneas and i love you by Billie when y’all get a chance 💛 their entire catalog is straight fire though tbh so go wild.
Billie & Finneas’ musics travels through the ages, genders, creed and everything in between. Truly incredible artists!
Everything she wanted was killing herself because of her sadness. This song hits deep
I don't think she means that with this...
Dny Carrera yea she does. I just texted her
alagalag you wut?!?!
I love how they think they’re so cool, then find out she’s 1000x cooler than them!🤣🤣🤣💀
Ok boomer
When did they think they're cooler? Listening to a different genre of music and being open to listening to something the complete opposite of what they usually listen to is something most ignorant people never do. If anything they're better as human beings than most because of the fact that they're capable of being open minded, unlike most people who see or hear something they don't like, they judge it without knowing anything about it.
I was glad to hear you guys give this a good review. This isn't my typical genre of music, but I absolutely love this song, and a couple others of hers. She and her brother are very gifted.
The best reaction of all that I've seen.
Thank you that means alot 💪
Watching people who have a true love of music is so satisfying. There are so many people who will only listen to one genre and act like all others are trash. seeing some people who are able to enjoy something that they wouldn't normally listen to is a real treat.
That's what I thought, DARK. Relaxing for the depressed, depressing on the other way.
I feel like it's a visual representation of the immense pressure they are both under now... That at the end of the day be careful what you say and her brother is always there for her as she is for him... Its beautiful.
Billie Eilish "You should see me in a crown"
Vertical version my fellow rockers
this is by far one of my favorite songs and will be forever. i love to hear her sing with just her brother playin guitar
These guys more looking at the car than the song 😂😂😂
The album is a unit and each song together tell the story. I have been a fan of Billie for a few years. She is raw and has amazing talent. Good for you guys for going in with an open mind.
In an interview she said she song was about a night terror she had
They are joking around but they feel the song , especially the bald guy , he was feeling every pitch change and every meaning ... and there whole mood changed by the end of the song too , as anticipated from people who understand music.
Their faces with the first note billie sang is amazing.
What they love about this song is what i love about this song and i heard it sooooooooooo many times.
That moment when she went underwater and the effect changed , i love that.
Everytime i hear the line "if they knew what they said would go straight to my head , what would they say instead " love this line so much
And i love the protective nature ," as long as i am here , no one can hurt "
And" if i could change the way that you see yourself".
Can I just say you guys are so fit!! 🙌🏼😻. Love these reaction videos
You need to watch "When we fall asleep"...dark and creepy
Oh, one more thing I haven't seen in the comments yet. At 3:37-3:43 the place they are driving at is a reference to where they filmed one of her past music videos called 'Bellyache'. And the colour/background where she mentions her brother at the start of this music video was the ending of her previous music video 'Xanny' which has smoke.
I love Billie but I had the same reaction with the car 😂
Dudes. So i am a metalhead myself. But i also cling to so many genres. I fucking love this song and have been addicted to it for a while. Your video is fucking awesome! Loved your take on it.
react to You should see me in a crown (vertical video) it's a must, get ready to be freaked out.
I am 30 years old and I listen and attend metal concerts for 15 years. Still respecting her and her brother's work, they are very talented people and they transmit
Check out You Should See Me In A Crown by her. Music video is awesome!
aaron mcadam 🕷🕷
Showed up outta the blue in my recommendeds - really liked the video! Your reactions were interesting (and funny)
You’re thinking of everything you want by vertical horizon
Im a big metal head but billie is amazing. She is a very talented artist.
3:53 “As Lonq As I’m Here No-One Can Hurt You”...I Felt That !
Be kind with your words, they can go in your head, and mess u up.❤️❤️
I love how they gave her musics such attention. So thoughtful.i wish Billy the best.
