I recently made a short road trip from north Miami area (home) to the FL keys with my family. I use a dash cam in my car that has inside and outside cameras + audio. I put the two camera video clips together like you described in this video and it was absolutely perfect and Easy (peasy) . Just exactly what I needed for this video project. I'm new to PD17, and new to video editing, and I can't thank you enough sir for the excellent tutorials!

I wanted to share with everyone that if you read my last comments, I was very frustrated. I figured out and it worked for me. If you used a camera that wasn’t the same as the others, as in my case I used 2 IPhones and a 3rd video camera. I discovered that the video format wasn’t the same and that’s why every time I tried rendering the video the footage I used from the 3rd camera showed up black. I finally rendered each camera footage separate as a movie then used those videos as my 3 cameras. They were now all the same format and I’m so excited to say it worked!!!

JUst did a try this is what happ'd to me. after all in the Media room SLOWNESS I now have to figure out how to get this to properly play synched. on a fast laptop that I have go figure, also each few minutes the program hesitates and freezes if it is doing something (like saving) Lol.
What's the resolution and bit rate of the video being used? Even if your machine is "FAST" this involves simultaneous playback of up to 4 clips. If they are HD or 4K and if they have a high bit rate it could slow down your system. With that being said I used 4 1080p, .MTS, 8 Bit, 48.4 Mb/s files for the tutorial. My PC has a i9 processor and 64 GB of RAM.
Very good but I came here for something else. I want to run my film which has a vocal song soundtrack on and use the webcam to mime it. so I can then add extra visuals. Can it be done so that my existing film and web cam capture can run simultaneously. Help would be appreciated if the programme is up to that.
If you go to the Capture tab you can record yourself on your webcam and them add that video to the film by adding the recorded webcam footage to a lower track, double clicking on the recorded footage and using the position and scale parameters to adjust the recorded footage and place it where you want it.

That was excellent and I could use the settings to watch the video and web cam record at the same time. Better still it comes with PD17 so problem solved. Thanks for the tutorials. This really is an awesome tool. I still like using keyframe to do multi camera edits. The main reason is because of floating point frame rates in the different camera clips and main audio recording. I find it very easy to keep track of the sync with the audio from all the clips byt listening to them all as the video plays. If one wavers, I can spit the clip and either add or subtract a frame to keep they sync. Then, by using key frames, I can ease the cameras in and out.
Thanks for the introduction of this feature. In actual use, it would be best to have only one side angle shot so that you "lead" to the same side of the screen, without reversing the direction the talent is facing. If you don't intend to address the side camera directly, consider using a couple of different focal length framing straight on. Another technique that can be effective is head on framing, but screen left on one, screen right on the other, cutting between them. Keep the videos coming!!!!

Is there a way to incorporate PIP during multicam designer edit? In other words switch to a shot where cam 1 and cam 2 are alongside each other - or 3 boxes on a screen at once, then switch back to a single camera - all in real time while using the multi-camera designer?
Everytime I put beeps over my aac audio the beeps always come out distorted after export. Is it the codecs because I'm constantly exporting with different results everytime?
It's called Letterbox. Use the Mask Designer to crop the top and bottom of the video. Watch my Letterbox tutorial to get an idea of how to do it. It is done with an older version of PD but the concept is exactly the same.
I really do not use this feature due to most all my videos is animated. I use the chroma key the most in my videos. I put together a bunch of cameras to try multi cam out in another program although it is a great tool for live video. I even played around with a drone to get an aerial video to tie into my multi cam scenes. What I got PowerDirector 17 for was the Multi Chroma key feature. Thanks for the great video. Then, after I hit okay, some of the video I could split, some I could not because there was a disconnect between the audio and video on the track. I didn't know why that was or how to fix it. I produced and saved it and then just added it in as a new project and split the parts out that I didn't want to get the ball rolling. Thanks for commenting. Not bad for my first time, I'm sure there is a simpler way and maybe I just missed something.
In the color correction video that the company put out, you needed to put all the clips on the same track to color correct. If this true (or correct me if it is not), how would you do a multicam track that needed color correction among the various clips?

Is there way to see multicam windows (four squares) bigger ? Is sad that I can"t go full screen. There is big only one camera - what actually is selected.
Thanks for the videos! Helped bigtime. Only thing now is that since I updated to 365, the multi cam audio analysis doesn't sync anymore so I have to manually move each camera video line while listening to the music to synchronize the videos. Did something change from pd18 to pd365 that stopped the audio analysis sync from working?

@@johnnyjsoldskoolzone1722 The only time I've ever seen that is when the audio isn't exactly the same. If you feel it is exactly the same you should contact support for assistance. Their link is on my channel under the About section.
@@PDU_Tutorials I figured it out! It works with the numeric keys at the top of the keyboard, haven't figured out how to get it to work with the numeric keys on the right. If yours isn't set up, go to - Edit > Keyboard Hotkeys > Customize > Workspace > Scroll all the way to the bottom to MultiCam 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th cameras. Or, edit > Preferences > Editing and at the bottom is Keyboard Hotkeys. Makes editing videos together so much easier!
Alright, figured out the keys on the right lol. Just edit the numeric key inputs in the settings and hit buttons 1, 2, 3, 4 on the right keyboard keys. It will change it to Num 1, Num 2, Num 3, Num 4.
Having a little difficulty syncing videos from two cameras filming an event. One camera ran constantly through the entire event and would like to use it as my "base" but the video is split into multiple files. The second camera was used to move around, zoom and capture solos. I brought the videos in as Camera 1 and Camera 2 and set Camera 1 as the Audio Source. I line the Camera 1 videos up in order and then apply synchronization. It does the synchronization but moves the Camera 1 files around where there is space between them and then it moves some to Camera 3 and Camera 4. Is there some way to lock these files an only move the other camera files?
have you tried producing all of the separate files from camera 1 to create one continuous file? The you can bring it back into PD as 1 file and use it as the audio source.

Bryan If you don’t know which version you have not much I can tell you. Some versions of the program have less features than others. As the title states this tutorial is for the Ultimate version.
Is there any way to change a camera angle once it’s on the timeline while preserving the edits? For example if you find camera 2 was better at a specific point and camera 1 was selected. I know that you can right-click and select edit in multi cam designer but it clears out any edits including color correction. Thanks!
Once you bring the clips to the timeline you can move them and trim them however you want. SO if a different camera angle works better move it to a different track and trim it to fit in place.
If I watch previous videos of PowerDirector like PowerDirector 13 14 15 16 is a lot of the effects the same the buttons and controls the same also I want to learn more about particles and how to create different things
Tku this is exactly why I use Power Director. Would like to see more content on Milti Cam. It is a great value over the competition editors! 2 questions/issues im having. 1) Is it possible to add continuous clips back to back to form longer time lines? Talking head speachs may create 2-3 fat32 files that have to be put together + 3 camera angles. 2) Noticed I cant color correct/wb the different clips. Im sure im doing something wrong...figured would reach out to the master. Color match feature - in Multi Cam? Tk you again #BBQCrasher
If 16 has multicam and none of the features from this video are new then it will work. I do not remember what is in every previous version of PD. Only you can tell whether it will work or not by trying it. Usually the features on the new and old versions are mostly the same.

I have used multi cam and audio sync before. Now I wanted to do the same, but power director ia not sync correctly as it should. Would you have any idea why?
What are the sources of the video clips being used? IPhone, Canon C70, GoPro, etc. If some of the clips use constant frame rate and others use variable frame rate then the audio will go out of sync.

Can we do more than 4 cameras? There are 5 musicians in my band, we’ve recorded separate parts to our lockdown track. The only thing I can think of is to edit 2 together, save as 1, then bounce it to the next MCE with the others.
4 cameras is the max. If you want to use more than 4 cameras it can be done in the normal timeline. You can place each musician on a different track, place your main audio on a track below all of the other tracks. Hld the CTRL button down on your keyboard and left mouse click each clip and the audio so that ll the clips are selected. Then click the SYNC AUDIO button that should appear above the timeline. Once everything is synced you can split and cut out the parts you want so that different musicians show up when you want them to.
Not sure. I no longer have PD 13 nor do I have Windows 7. If you go to Preferences there should be an option to delete shadow files, temporary file, or something like that.
Is there a way to make PowerDirector 365 to use more than 4 cameras? I have 5 videos for a music video that I'm trying to put together, but I don't see a way to expand from 4 to MORE cameras. It's MP3, last night it gave off sounds but then went off later on, I can't hear anything from my imported audio, so I was not able to make my first music video using multicam designer
@@sunkist6236 Convert the audio to a .Wav file and it will work. You can use an audio editor like Audactiy to convert the audio file to .Wav. If you can't hear any audio using PowerDirector try watching my Audio Fix video.

Now to figure out how to use it, because in 365 (for me) it opens up a new, little, teeny, tiny window over the standard view. Like a two-inch square little tiny window. One step at a time I guess. After using most of the "top 6" editors, this is the most user friendly so far. The only thing holding me back from buying it is the time-lag while recording live edit multicam. I'm usually editing live bands, and the sound and video don't match, or are simply inaudible. Is there a lower resolution I can use for playback? (obviously exporting highest possible quality)
@@PDU_Tutorials hoW? it's not in the Playback menu, and I've gone into the settings to analyse my laptop for optimasation (core i7, GTX graphics, 1TB memory, windows 10) I've also got some short video clips (15-45 seconds) which it struggles to slot into the audio timeline. Cheers matey!
Yes the resolution will be the same as long as you select the proper resolution for your project and in your Produce settings. Video quality is based on the bitrate and compression used.

I produced and saved it and then just added it in as a new project and split the parts out that I didn't want to get the ball rolling. Thanks for commenting. Thanks for the videos! Helped bigtime. Only thing now is that since I updated to 365, the multi cam audio analysis doesn't sync anymore so I have to manually move each camera video line while listening to the music to synchronize the videos. Did something change from pd18 to pd365 that stopped the audio analysis sync from working?

The Mac version doesn’t have all of the features the PC version has yet. They are supposed to be adding more features.

Why is it that after I hit the apply button to sinc the audio with the video, the audio goes off sinc??
Because the audio is not exactly the same so if it doesn't match it moves them apart.

@@PDU_Tutorials I figured it out! It works with the numeric keys at the top of the keyboard, haven't figured out how to get it to work with the numeric keys on the right. If yours isn't set up, go to - Edit > Keyboard Hotkeys > Customize > Workspace > Scroll all the way to the bottom to MultiCam 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th cameras. Or, edit > Preferences > Editing and at the bottom is Keyboard Hotkeys. Makes editing videos together so much easier!
Alright, figured out the keys on the right lol. Just edit the numeric key inputs in the settings and hit buttons 1, 2, 3, 4 on the right keyboard keys. It will change it to Num 1, Num 2, Num 3, Num 4.

Having a little difficulty syncing videos from two cameras filming an event. One camera ran constantly through the entire event and would like to use it as my "base" but the video is split into multiple files. The second camera was used to move around, zoom and capture solos. I brought the videos in as Camera 1 and Camera 2 and set Camera 1 as the Audio Source. I line the Camera 1 videos up in order and then apply synchronization. It does the synchronization but moves the Camera 1 files around where there is space between them and then it moves some to Camera 3 and Camera 4. Is there some way to lock these files an only move the other camera files?
have you tried producing all of the separate files from camera 1 to create one continuous file? The you can bring it back into PD as 1 file and use it as the audio source.

Bryan If you don’t know which version you have not much I can tell you. Some versions of the program have less features than others. As the title states this tutorial is for the Ultimate version.

Is there any way to change a camera angle once it’s on the timeline while preserving the edits? For example if you find camera 2 was better at a specific point and camera 1 was selected. I know that you can right-click and select edit in multi cam designer but it clears out any edits including color correction. Thanks!
Once you bring the clips to the timeline you can move them and trim them however you want. SO if a different camera angle works better move it to a different track and trim it to fit in place.

Tku this is exactly why I use Power Director. Would like to see more content on Milti Cam. It is a great value over the competition editors! 2 questions/issues im having. 1) Is it possible to add continuous clips back to back to form longer time lines? Talking head speachs may create 2-3 fat32 files that have to be put together + 3 camera angles.
2) Noticed I cant color correct/wb the different clips. Im sure im doing something wrong...figured would reach out to the master. Color match feature - in Multi Cam? Tk you again #BBQCrasher

If 16 has multicam and none of the features from this video are new then it will work. I do not remember what is in every previous version of PD. Only you can tell whether it will work or not by trying it. Usually the features on the new and old versions are mostly the same.

I have used multi cam and audio sync before. Now I wanted to do the same, but power director ia not sync correctly as it should. Would you have any idea why?
What are the sources of the video clips being used? IPhone, Canon C70, GoPro, etc. If some of the clips use constant frame rate and others use variable frame rate then the audio will go out of sync.

After you create the camera switches using the MultiCam designer, you can create a zoom when the clips are on your timeline.
Can we do more than 4 cameras? There are 5 musicians in my band, we’ve recorded separate parts to our lockdown track. The only thing I can think of is to edit 2 together, save as 1, then bounce it to the next MCE with the others.
4 cameras is the max. If you want to use more than 4 cameras it can be done in the normal timeline. You can place each musician on a different track, place your main audio on a track below all of the other tracks. Hld the CTRL button down on your keyboard and left mouse click each clip and the audio so that ll the clips are selected. Then click the SYNC AUDIO button that should appear above the timeline. Once everything is synced you can split and cut out the parts you want so that different musicians show up when you want them to.

I know this is off subject, but how do you clear the cache for Power Director 13 Windows 7?
Not sure. I no longer have PD 13 nor do I have Windows 7. If you go to Preferences there should be an option to delete shadow files, temporary file, or something like that.

Multi cam can only use for cameras. If you want to use more you have to manually plug them on the timeline.

It's MP3, last night it gave off sounds but then went off later on, I can't hear anything from my imported audio, so I was not able to make my first music video using multicam designer

@@sunkist6236 Convert the audio to a .Wav file and it will work. You can use an audio editor like Audactiy to convert the audio file to .Wav. If you can't hear any audio using PowerDirector try watching my Audio Fix video.

Where to get multicam designer?
It comes with PowerDirector. Depends on which version you have. If you have free/essentials or if you have Mac you will not have it.
@@PDU_Tutorials It took a while to figure out how it works in current PowerDirector 365, but I found it. Now to figure out how to use it, because in 365 (for me) it opens up a new, little, teeny, tiny window over the standard view. Like a two-inch square little tiny window.

After using most of the "top 6" editors, this is the most user friendly so far. The only thing holding me back from buying it is the time-lag while recording live edit multicam. I'm usually editing live bands, and the sound and video don't match, or are simply inaudible. Is there a lower resolution I can use for playback? (obviously exporting highest possible quality)
You can drop the preview to as low as 480p and still ender as high as 4K.
@@PDU_Tutorials hoW? it's not in the Playback menu, and I've gone into the settings to analyse my laptop for optimasation (core i7, GTX graphics, 1TB memory, windows 10) I've also got some short video clips (15-45 seconds) which it struggles to slot into the audio timeline. Cheers matey!

Yes the resolution will be the same as long as you select the proper resolution for your project and in your Produce settings. Video quality is based on the bitrate and compression used.
