Elgato Video Capture Device for under $100!

The software needs to be download separately (shown in the video).
This is the best and cheapest choice I found converting from VHS and DVD to digital.
I got it for less than $100 at the time of uploading this video.
Here are the system requirements listed on the side of the box:
Mac: OS X 10.6.8 or later
PC: Windows 7 or later, 2Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo (or comparable), sound card

Why using Composite out instead of S-Video that has a way superior quality image?
I'll be using an external hard drive to download all my movies where is the option to do that at ? I didn't see that in the video .
Is the software built-in the video capture card ? If not where do you get the software mine didn't come with a DVD to download or nothing the reason I'm asking .

Nice video. I'm encountering a delay with audio. The video and audio are not in sync even though the video portion is working fine. I have an older elgato that I purchased in 2016. I'm wondering if I need to get a new one. When you were opening the packgage, on the side of it, it said it was Window 10 compatible. My package says it's Windows 8 compatible. I used to use a Windows 7 but now I'm using a Windows 10 Laptop. If you have any solutions on how to fix this, I'd love to hear it. Thanks!
Hello Kevin P, I've listed the system requirements under the description section of this video. You should check it to make sure you have enough juice to capture videos smoothly. In rare cases, you may have a defective model. You should return the old one and get a replacement to see if it is an issue with the card or not.
The product has arrived to have sound but no image. I contacted the manufacturer poor service do not recommend
I recently bought a Elgato video capture. I did everything in the right order. When I try to start Elgato video capture program it says "Connect the Elgato video capture hardware to a USB 2.0 port" I already plugged it in a usb 2.0 port and also tried different ports. Is there a solution for this?
How do I directly record onto a DVD disc? I tried to it do it twice & both times it stopped recording before the time I had set. Then I was prompted by 'files waiting to be written' on the DVD I had inserted. Don't know what to do next?
I don't see a way to record directly to a DVD with this device. You should be able to record a video using Elgato and then use your DVD burning software to record the saved movie file to a DVD. So this should be a two step process.
Hey brother why does my videos come out as blurry as they do with this particular ELGATO device? If you look on my channel you can see the videos are nice but at the end of the day very blurry. Any advice on this matter? Thank you so much. Great video
Are you uploading them directly from the capture or do you edit any of them. All of the clips on my channel were from Elgato. Because they were from VHS, they are going to be a little grainy anyways. Also, I notice the quality you uploaded to RUclips was not very high quality.

I'm not sure exactly how to upload it in better quality. Wish I know. I don't want them on 240p or 360 either. I have absolutely no idea how to do it. Thank you so much for the response back
Jake Pappalardo what is the resolution of the videos you are uploading?
The quality of the upload depends on the quality of the video itself. You have to make sure the video you are uploading is at the highest quality possible.
@@jakejp74 When you digitize from analog the resolution will be low, like 640x480 max for hi8 tape. The frame rate is 30 fps. The video is uploaded to RUclips as SD resolution = standard. You should try yo capture at a digital resolution that is equivalent to the tape you have used.
Could this be used to stream retro games with stream labs?
I am not sure how you are setting up your stream. I believe you would just connect your retro game to stream labs and stream it as you are playing the game. I am not sure why you would need a converter.
Elgato is not compatible with Apple’s new Big Sur version 11.0.1. software, any tricks please? Cheers Gezza
That’s surprising. I would contact elgato support to see if they have an updated driver.

@@ric-carol yes, they were constantly following up and trying to help, in the end it just started working after after about 3-4 weeks. I don’t actually know what the software crashing cause was?
I tried it and found the quality of the video not that great. It was a little blurry compared to the original.
Thanks for your feedback. I thought the mp4 compression was very good. I didn’t see much degradation in my captured videos. I noticed good quality movies on tape looked better than old recorded footage when it got converted over.
Nothing will work unless you download and install the Elgato DRIVERS first. You did not mention this ESSENTIAL step.
I haven't got that far yet how do you move the video files to a external hard drive after you download the software and download the video ?
