I’m a disabled & one who lives with MST/PTSD, on top of many injuries/chronic pain; all due to my time in the AF, & your comment regarding veterans spoke to me tremendously! 🇺🇸❤️And, Maurice, your transparency, on top of wearing your heart on your sleeve, makes this show, us listeners, and your guests, all feel as family…as we are all equally important and valuable!

What a great interview with Charles. Loved him as Shane Donovan on Days, Maxwell Sheffield on The Nanny and the evil Victor. He has certainly made Victor his own. This was very enlightening and it was so good to hear his take on Mental Health and how great he loves to learn about everything.

I love how you both said the dark times will eventually pass. Such an uplifting interview! There is a song called This too shall pass. The lyrics say what you are going through shall not last, this too shall pass. Life will just open up if you make it through the hills and valleys. You will smile and laugh again. We all have tough times in life. You look at actors you appear to be so much in control, but you all our human just like us. I listen to you every Sunday and I forget you are a star. You have a heart that can connect with people. You went through the fire so that you could reach back and pull others out. Bravo Mr. Benard! Good things are coming to the Benard Family! Praying that everything goes smoothly for the arrival of Charles new Grandchild. Such a distinguished interview!

Yes Maurice! People are talking about Mental health finally ! I used to tell people I wish I had a broken leg, something they could see they would say it's all in your head! Yes it is! Now I talk about it.. Especially since my daughter just passed away....no I'm not OK..Super anxiety & panic even before for over 30 years! Loving GH right now as always! It’s fun hearing Charles talk about the presidents of NBC, who were there during the years of ‘The Nanny’. I actually know who the Vice President was during the show’s run. His name was Pierson Mapes. He was the VP from 1978 to 1994. He was also a college classmate of my father’s. Small world.

This was more awesome than I even expected it to be, Maurice. What a great guy. You can just feel it, listening to him. I'm familiar with Charles from OLTL as well as The Nanny and loved him on both. I was so happy to see him come to GH. The tribe concept, when it comes to kids figuring out what to do with their lives........how awesome!! When my daughters were "flailing", trying to figure out which life path to take, and what they wanted to major in in college, there was very little guidance or help in that area from the schools here. Something that I think is a huge disservice to our kids .....but I digress.....😁 This concept Charles pointed out, while trying to figure out what direction you want to take in life, is really an awesome one! This was SOOOO good, Maurice!! What a great guest choice for SOM!!! So intelligent and understanding as far as the subject of mental health. Also, the way you describe the difference in the way other people handle seeing an obvious, physical injury and something that is actually going on inside someone was very interesting and so true. LOVED this one, Maurice! Have Charles back sometime!! I hope Victor Cassadine sticks around Port Charles for a very long time!! ❤

I have watched Charlies since I was a child in the 80s Shane Donovan was a prince when I was kid. Thank you for being so supportive regarding depression, I've suffered most of my life.

I so enjoy your talks. Wish I had someone like you to talk about what is inside of me. I am 78 and for years have tried to analyze myself. Always the same issues. I have begun many journals and if I look back over them over the years I have the same feelings. I feel like no one really likes me, even me. I always had to be the good girl as an only child and as I grew I learned not to make waves or voice my feelings because it might upset someone.
Everything starts with your thoughts you have to figure out how to stay out of them
I do get tired of people always trying to kill sonny off the show you are what makes the best part of the show

Maurice this conversation was very fun and relaxing. It is sad that so many issues that can kill are silent to others. I have no issues with my mental health and can not even fathom what that would be like. Now medically I have and finally just learned to not care what people thought about me weighing 75lbs. I know all the internal organs that I lost do too a mass. It took 19 yrs and I’m finally back to 95 lbs. My son always said that if I’d lost a limb people who did not know me would be compassionate. Not being able to see my scar and my insides I was mocked. Did I care no because I’m alive and breathing. It’s made me have deep, deep empathy for those suffering no matter what and yes there is a rainbow out there. Hugs to you Maurice and thanks for this beautiful conversation today.❤

The last few years have been really hard for me because I had a really bad accident and I'm in a whole lot of pain. Watching state of mind is helping me get through anxiety and stuff that has to do with my accident. I am so grateful for these videos and interviews. Thank you so much

I really enjoyed this interview with Charles Shaughnessy..I am a retired administrative assistant and it was a wonderful discussion reminding me of how I become a senior administrative assistant. Mental illness as you know is in my family....we take each day....Thank you...
I loved the Nanny. It was a true family show. I am watching the reruns. I wish Charles character was a lighter character. I dont really care for the mob scenes. Glad to get to see him talk in real life. Thanks for having him on.

Love Charles… Been a fan since the 80’s when I watched Days.. but now I’m definitely a GH die hard and the character Victor was made for Charles. Thaao played it well but Dang Charles does an excellent job.

Phenomenal conversation indeed. Charles' curiosity and compassion is so encouraging, especially considering he has not experienced mental health issues that others have. Sometimes, we confide in people when life gets rough, and wind up feeling more alone. I imagine Charles is a blessing to those who are struggling.
